New wannabee' s should have to watch these videos. Learn what it really is and what it takes. This stuff they pass off as country music today, please. Get real. It' s true. Murder was committed on Music Row. Even the clubs on Broadway aren' t really country anymore. Only the Ryman remains.
I love and miss you Tammy. You will always be a legend to all who loved you and your music. You can tell how much this meant to you to receive this award. It was about time. You were/are the best. May you rest in peace. I'll never forget you.
Wow her acceptance speech was the most heartfelt ive ever heard . What an an incredible woman. Im sad ill never get to hear her sing live, But ill always have her music to rember he
A true talent, a humble talent, that is what a legend is made of, and she truly was one and still is, I was a fan as a kid and a fan I still am, her early recordings I listened to over and over and would spend many hours looking for all her old albums, she is my favorite female singer of all time, always will be.
The song is "Till I Can Make It On My Own". Written by Tammy Wynette. Tammy often said that out of all the songs she wrote, that this was her favorite!
Watch "ER" On Thursday April 2, 2009 at 9pm on NBC Television Stations. See What Mrs. Mack Had To Deal With From 1982-2006. Maybe You Will Understand It Better. Maybe You Won't. That Is Life In A Hospital "Emergency Room" Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, New Jersey.
I think this was the beginning of the resolving of their feelings for one another after a long time of having been "civil" after this, and with Tammy's near death two years after this, they were finally able to become friends and were close friends--not to mention Grandparents of their daughter Georgette's twin sons--by the time of her death.
I am so happy to see this...she deserved this award and to see her accept it is a blessing to me...she didn't live long enough to accept her country music hall of fame award so thank God she did get to know about this one...
Facts say that when she died, she was watching tv, when George Richey realized she was gone, he just covered her up with a blanket, and let fans come in and out of her house smoking and drinking coffee....here's the weird part...she was still in a fetal postion, as she was when watching tv. It makes me cry to think that all those years of hard work did pay off, but she didn't live long enough to see more. Tammy Wynette-- First Lady of Country Music--Forever!!
Tammy Wynette, even though she's gone she is still a legend and will always be. I enjoyed watching this video so much. And how about seeing Merle Haggard anouncing her for the award. Tammy's music will always live on, she was just great. Thanks for posting this video.
Apartement #9 was the first Tammy Wynette song I had ever heard. It floored me. I could not believe how awesome her voice was. I agree with Billy Sherrill. Nobody deserved that award more than she did.
I read somewhere once that she actually got letters from people after Apartment #9 came out expressing that they were so sorry she was that lonely. Her expression in the song made people believe that WAS her life!!
I wish I could find the whole performance of the clip of Stand By Your Man that they used in this...it seems like a very powerhouse performance of that song :)
the premise of the Living Legend Award, on this particular award show, was to have the honoree at the show under some pretense, I believe Tammy was there , she thought, to honor her husband George Richey or something, and so she was genuinely surprised :)
Absolutly correct, only a handfull of people know so the secret does not get out, normaly you tell them they are there to honor one of their close friends like Dolly.
That was a sweet tribute to her from burt reynolds.i think some years back they were dateing.
