  • Very good you play very well.

  • @kitfistouk -- thanks :)

  • What piece did you play in this video? :D

  • @mikage06 -- hi, its the vitali chaconn :)

  • @eboyinc Oh! Thanks for the Reply! :D

  • @eboyinc Thanks!! :D will be looking for its Music sheet :D

  • how old is old?

  • @shariotoflove -- about 100+ years.

  • How long have you been playing?

  • Hi, is it for sale?

  • @kamngaty -- no, sorry.

  • WOAH.. that sounds nice..

  • This was amazing! I agree, this is indeed a superb instrument with great sound quality!

  • I like your playing samples! You play beautifully :)

  • Well thanks for showing : these beauties just escape from our hunger for knowing more about instruments and late man !

  • what is the most expensive violin you have played?

  • @MrWiniford -- i was very lucky to have had a chance to play two real strads--i did a bach sonata on one and the bruch violin concerto on another. both were amazing instruments. i don't know what they're actually worth, but they're definately the most expensive vioins i've ever played. even though it was just for a few minutes on each, they were definately very cool minutes :)

  • do you or the estate sell these violins?

  • @medicello9 -- my brother and i just do the sound samples that you see here on youtube. some of the violins we've played in these videos are loaned to local music conservatories, so are in the hands of professional violinists for use in recording and performing, some have been sold. But we just help catalog them by playing them for a minute or two.

  • excellent timbre!

  • @radicaledward40 -- thanks :)

  • what is the name of this song?

    just amazing!

    congratulations!

  • @dancewiththedeath -- its the Chaconne by Tomas Vitali...glad you liked it :)

  • Wow are you a violin collector? :O

  • @JeremyImp -- hey thanks for your question...the violins that my brother and i are using in these video sound samples are part of the collection of a professional violinist who passed away a few years ago. their estate asked us to help catalog the collection by recording short sound samples of each instrument. you can see my brother and i using our own violins on our personal youtube channel --

  • @LilMrsMusic yes! it's very very beautiful!! it is as if I'm already flying!!! what's the title please. :(

  • Where do you get access to all of these violins in your different videos. So many fine choices. They are all amazing :)

  • are you selling this violins?

  • @DEVIMON111213 -- no.

  • hmmm. whats the title of the piece...! its kinnda famillar, but i forgot it..! thnx..!

    LOVE the SOUND!!!! ♫♫♪

  • @neltonaccount -- thanks so much...the piece is the Chaconne by Tomas Vitali.

  • i love that violin!! O¬O

    and your playing of course!

  • @Invicible91 -- thanks...glad you liked it :D

  • WOW O_O

  • @boomer4666 --- glad you liked the vid :D

  • @eboyinc lmao, i love the antiques <3

  • @boomer4666 -- i do too. at first, when we started doing these sound samples, we were faced with hundreds of old, dusty black violin cases. we had no idea what we'd find inside. but as we got going, it was like a treausre hunt. each case revealed a fantastic instrument with its own personality. its been an amazing project. and best of all, there are tons more.

  • @eboyinc thats sound so friggin epic o_o something out of a movie. who owns all these? your friend or did u just find a abandon mansion and went explorin

  • @boomer4666 -- thanks...these violins were collected over a lifetime by a professional orchestra violinist and violin teacher who spent a lifetime collecting them.

  • Chaconne, right? Very beautiful, as always :) And a superb violin as well!

  • @them413rkid --- right! thanks so much!!!

  • awesome playing there, i'm aiming for one of those, how much is the average price for one of these things?

  • @v3zah -- wow, i'm just a violin student...i really couldn't tell you what the average violin costs. i think it depends on what level violin you need.

  • is that violin sold to public?

  • @redee14 --hi, these violins are part of the estate of a professional violinist who passed away a few years ago. some are on loan to professional violinists, some are currently being used by conservatory students, some are on loan to universities and museums/collections of antique instruments, some have been and will be sold, and some will stay with the collection in the hands of the estate.

  • @eboyinc do you know where we could go to get a loaned instrument?

  • @lolturtle13 -- you should try your local violin shops, violin schools...some cities/towns have lending programs. some violin teachers lend violins too.

  • what is the peice of music your playing called

  • chaconne!

  • To BARONSCHWARZWALD...its Tomas Vitali's Chaconne.

  • Wow, that was beautiful. You're amazing!!!

  • thanks so much :D

  • can you please tell me the string that was used in this violin...how bout the other violins you are using?

  • hi, these violins are part of a large collection that belonged to a professional violinist who collected them throughout their lifetime. Most of these instruments haven't been out of their cases in 20 years. The strings are old. We only get about 5 minutes to spend with each instrument, so we don't spend too much time with the strings other than to tune the violin up.

  • Really? Wow.

  • if your complaining about the audio its all the cameras fault

  • hi...thanks for your comment...we use a very inexpensive $79 casio digital camera to shoot the video clips...you're totally right about the audio...this camera has the world's smallest mic :D

  • lol violinwatcher eboyinc is 100x better than you at violin if you can even play it.

  • damn that thing nearly plays itself

  • thanks...it was a really fantastic old violin :D

  • FIVE STARS!!!!! Fantastic as usual.

  • thanks so much...i appreciate the support :D

  • is this violin italian too?

  • this is an old german violin :D

  • :O this violin sounds so pretty compared to the other ones

  • yes, its a sweet instrument.

  • Oh wow, this is an amazing violin! The colour is so different to anything I have seen.

And there is something about it's tone as well.

Amazing! Great video, I will subscribe =)

  • thanks...glad to have you subscribing. this is a beautiful old german violin which has a really nice, dark patina. probably about 100-120 years old :D

  • what wood is that made from? I like the ones that are stained dark in the middle

  • hi, the top is made of a fine grain spruce. the dark shading is often the result of decades of old pine rosin that collected on the violin that was shed from the bow. the rosin would actually invade the varnish and darken :D

  • Comment removed

  • yeas i play and i can do some vibrado but you are very talented at it I might send you a vid of me playing just not yet lol I am getting a better vilion soon mines is not expert :/

  • we'd like to see your video when you're ready. we were apprehensive when we started doing the videos here on youtube, but people are very supportive and its good for musicians and people who love music to stick together :D

  • hi, thanks for your comment...this violin is part of the collection of a lifelong orchestra violinist. its definately a professional level instrument. i was in 7th grade when i did this video. do you play?

  • that is awesome keep up the good playing

  • hey thanks so much :D

  • Thank you soo muchh and even if you dont find it or come across it thats alright..

    I appreciate the attempt

BTW you play beautifully and vitali is one of my favoritests songs and you play it beautifullyy...

    Keep doing what your doing..

  • superb! it will ask for currencies in my country to acquire one, thank you very much by the information, God to you continues always blessing, we are in contact

  • hahahaha exact! oh oh a question: what is the sale price of a violin 4/4 back in the United States, but the economic one? I want to have one his sound is pleasant and very beauty of structure :-D

  • violins here vary so much in price depending on quality, age, origin, maker and of course, sound...i think with some searching, you can find a good violin with a good sound at all price levels :D

  • Could I get a good violin for under 1000$...?

  • hi...the simple answer is yes, absolutely. however, "good" is relative to the player and situation. what is good to a student violinist like myself is probably nowhere near good to someone like perlman or joshua bell. but for your average player, you can get a nice violin for less than $1000 :D

  • What is the dark shading...?

  • this violin was originally all dark colored which was very much in vogue apparently in the 1880-1920 period. the areas at the shoulders are lighter because of wear from playing over the years. this effect is often copied in an attempt to provide an "antiqued" look. also, on older violins, you may see darkening due to rosin buildup...usually in the area between the end of the sound board and the top of the taipiece (around the bridge) :D

  • Do you have the notes for this song cause i really wanna learn it on violin and piano..

  • most of the music i play on these sound samples is part of the estate collection...there are boxes and boxes of old sheet music there. i use it and back it goes...if i come across it, i'll try and post it :D

  • It's a very beautiful violin ;) I have an late 19th century Italian handmade violin :D

  • the old italian violins are wonderful...you're very fortunate :D

  • Thank you :) I love my violin. She's really a great instrument

  • good job! beautifull violin I want to have a violin but cheap that exists she does not matter that she sounds ugly but I want one hahahahahah Amazing, five stars

  • dear god that sounds lovely. i would love to get to know that violin!

  • Where do you get all these? i wish i had an endless supply of violins squirrled away, i have two, a crappy student violin and a $1200 Strad copy. your soo lucky.

  • well, they're all part of a collection. they asked my brother and i to do sound samples, but we don't own the violins...we're like you, we have a school violin and a basic old strad copy for recitals :D

  • Wow, very fluid bow strokes!

  • Is the most beautiful violin I've ever seen...really :)

    And I like the part at 0:58 - 1:16

  • May I ask how much it cost cuz i bought a $2000 one and your's is SOOOO much better

  • I love the colours of the body of this violin, so aflame, so passionate... I wish I had a lovely, glossy, dark violin hehe. Still, I'm lucky to play the one I do, one of my teacher's ones, the one she did her diplomas on... it's an excellent instrument. It may not look like the most amazing one, but it sounds great, and that's what matters!

  • you're totally right :D

  • everyone seems to play this when showcasing a violin.

Can I please ask what the name and composer of this piece is?

    thanks!

  • It's the Chaconne in G minor by Vitali, though now believed to be by the Romantic virtuoso violinist Ferdinand David due to its modulations, technical difficulty and just the general character of the music! In fact I had it in iTunes under Vitali for a while but in the end changed it to David - it's clearly a Romantic work!

  • i had this video for quite long in my fav list... and everytime i watch this... my soul just wants to get out of my body.... i dont understand.....

  • thanks...glad you like it :D

  • i don't know much about violins, i'm still a "noob" at it, but i enjoy playing :)

i LOVED to try my friend's violins when i was in an orchestra over 2 years ago. it's so much fun, every instrument has it's own "voice".. oh man, You must have a Blast playing all of these! :D haha funny i feel excited about you guys xD i have to admit i'm a bit jealous

    God bless

  • I'm a noob too:D My goal is to one day be able to play and sightread like these two:D

  • i do love it for sure...i'm really glad that so many people are enjoying hearing these violins. many of them haven't been heard in a long time :D

  • Still amazing as usual;P I hope I can play like u someday... :D

  • beautiful sound and playing!!

  • hi...thanks so much :D

  • Ah, Vitali. Nice exerpt. I like the violin. I personally own a nearly 300 year old Baroque violin. It's not from one of the great masters, but it's fantastic. It's been passed down through my family from generations. I'm one of the few to actually play it.

  • wow, 300 years old! i'd love to hear it. you should play something and post it. let me know if you do. thanks for listening to the vitali (it's hard for me to believe i recorded this over a year ago). :D

  • I don't have the proper recording material....

  • a really lovely, clear strong tone.

  • thanks so much! this chaconne always inspired me :D

  • I liked to try out a few violins when i bought my new one :) i tried a cheap one and an expensive one lol there was a big difference!

  • you should play something and post it...let me know if you do...good luck with the new violin :D

  • Wow, perfect tone! I'd love to have that violin even though I'm more into Cello's.

  • hey thanks. i'd love to have this one too. do you play the cello?

  • Not yet :)

  • you must really have some money with all those violin or are you just trying them out?

  • i wish they were mine lol. they're part of a collection; not my collection :{ but i love doing the sound samples...that's gotta be worth something :D

  • that tone and sound are very superb! :)

  • very pretty violin i am soooooo jealous lol!!!!

is it a one or two back???

  • yes it was a really nice violin for sure...but i recorded it a year ago and i don't remember whether the back was one or two piece...:D

  • oh okay. i was jw. still love it either way!!!! lol!

  • OMG

  • thanks for watching :D

  • Lovely. You have a gift to play this well at your age.

  • what does this mean?

  • I have a violin that was handed down to me from my grandmother and its extroadenary sounding. I am no where near as good as you are but i will probably make a vid sometime soon with it

  • how much did that cost???

  • this violin sounds beautiful.. what kind of wood is it made of?

  • spruce top and maple back and sides. Very pretty and old :D

  • modern violin-makers miss some key technics, or all they need is TIME?

seems to be the the best in your collection, it has great depth and dazzling high pitch! fit for concerts.

  • that is superb

  • hi, thanks...glad you liked it :D

  • i new to violin, but from all the violin you've shown here.... this one is the best... it has a very deep high pitch,... great sound,,,, by the way what is the name of that violin.. i hope i can have something like that...

  • beatiful violin beautiful sound really is supurb =]=]

  • thanks so much :D

  • how long have you ben playing? im only a begginer so i want to see how muuch longer till i can be...good

  • i've been playing just over 5 years...lotsa practice, but i always enjoy playing :D

  • Every violin is beautiful, but I think this one is the best. I really care about violins...I saw someone who smashed his violin because he didn't like it ( It can be a Stradivarius) and I started to cry....it's

painful to see a smashed violin.

  • oooooh...there are people all over the world who would have loved to have had that violin (the one that you saw smashed)...what a shame...i share you're pain!

  • You are right. That violin was old and precious. That... idiot who smashed it says that is a Stradivarius ( and he's right, they did researches ) and now he wants to sell it and get the money! If I would have that violin....I would consider it my best friend!

  • what a wonderful thought

  • omg, that is a beautiful violin!

    amazing playing btw.

  • thanks so much...it's a nice old violin...my playing...well, that's another thing :D

  • Hi,I've watched a bunch of your videos and I was just wondering how long you've played violin and if you have any future goals towards becoming a musician

  • i've been playing for about 5-6 years and i hope that i'll be good enough someday to play professionally...thanks for asking :D

  • awesome

although i'm just a begginer I would like to play professionally as well

thanks for replying and good luck, you play all my favorite songs!

  • Hi eboyinc, thnx for your extensive reply! Being able to play at so many instruments is

much of a privilege because you know what it takes and what's possible in violin playing in the end. I have 4 violins at home and love playing all of them and they taught me a lot about the boundaries and new directions to discover. Indeed brands don't matter! Keep up the good work and enjoy!

P.S.: in mentioning shrill instruments I was replying to zwazy19, but the reply didn't get forwarded to him/her:)

  • hi...thanks so much...oh yeah, i notice that every so often the replies don't match up...wierd :D

  • Probably it ís a German violin. They tend to be not so well in projecting their sound. All violins sound great in a bathroom and it's hard to get a representational sound recording. But anyway, are those violins to be sold?

  • i've played so many german violins that have a booming sound...dark and velvety on the bass side, singing--almost operatic on the treble strings...but, of course, they're are always different levels of every kind of violin.....(see next reply, I've run out of words)...........................

  • ....(reply continued)..I've heard terrible Italian violins and fantastic czech instruments...i've heard new American violins that are smokin' and older French violins that sound like a saxophone...and everything in between. I don't generalizing about violins anymore...it doesn't works, does it? Pro violinists know that more the maker and not the country that makes a violin worthwhile....(continued in next reply box.........

  • lol-i never thought of recording in a bathroom...it would be echoey...i shoot in a corner of our family room...out of the way, carpet on the floor to dampen the sound ....(continued in next reply box.........

  • .....nothing special in the way of acoustic properties...just couches and chairs and tv...and sometimes, me in the corner trying my best to produce a quick sound sample of this collection of fantastic violins. Yes, they'll ultimately be sold...we get offers almost every week on these violins. Many from well known, professional violinists and professional violin dealers.
