  • Hey Verdegrand, .. i can't believe I haven't seen this video of you before u___U /failure it's absolutely gorgeous T_T;;;;; I wish I could see your dancing hands better though.

  • what a lovely home.

  • I have the sheet music...it's just REALLY HARD to to read, i understand piano sheet music, but its like stuff ive never seen before, please give some tips man. how and how long did it take u to learn this? Btw, great vid im in love with your piano and technique, FANTASTIC job dude :)

  • Out of curiosity, just because I work at a music store, who made that grand?

  • awesomenessssssss >.<

  • Very well done. I'm actually learning this piece on the piano right now. FYI though, the very very beginning with the really low C's was a bit too quick. you need to slow it down. but other than that this is one of my favorite songs, and you were more than satisfactory.

  • Have I told you I loved you recently?

  • wow...even kyle himself is saying this is amazing...i have to give you credit for that phenomenal job keep it up

  • T_T Beautiful...

  • Wow, this is absolutely amazing!!!!!

  • Very nice control of dynamics. Your sound is also very nice. Compliments

  • This is so beautiful and amazing. I hope to learn this when I go pro.

  • this is fun !! so much music jumping out of the page and you managed to convey a majestic almost relaxed feel (great phrasing btw) even with all those Rachmaninoffesque elements. really thanks for this i just got my scores and really enjoyed following along w you. definitely considering this piece or perhaps the sonata kingdom hearts themes (i'm very partial to the sonata form and organization and development of the musical ideas). thanks again man. BRAVO!

  • Yo!...where do i find or buy the sheet music for this version...i really want to play it...probably wont play it as good as u though

  • @AllOutOrNothing hi, this is in the official piano collections kingdom hearts sheet book. i got mine from a japanese ebay seller, you should be able to still find one there. greetings

  • I Believe you killed this song, revived it, the KILLED IT AGAIN!! Great job, keep it up!

  • It's pretty annoying... When I can't see your hands playing on the grand...

  • @lipwen94 yeah the camera angle in this video is pretty much fail. it was the first time i recorded with this camera and i didn't have a tripod with me so i had to use a bunch of chairs and didn't check until after the recording. i might upload the uncropped original someday, when you see me play it gets a bit more believable.

  • wow i self studied myself in piano, after i heard this.... i felt likt im NOTHING! i so need you to be my master! :D ur just AWESOME! :D

  • Wow, tremendous skillz man :]. And very modest too lol...so many douchebag youtube pianists out there that are so cocky when they dont know the basics of music -_-. Good to know there are still people like you on the internet :P.

  • is that a baby grand? or the real deal? plz reply. I wanna know! ^-^

  • @fruitloop33344455555 hi, i think this is a "baby" grand but at the same time it's still the real deal :p

  • @Verdegrand how big is it?

  • the intro of concert paraphrase is almost exactly the same as rachmaninoff piano concerto #2 1st mov intro haha

  • @joshi3joshi hah that's true, actually there are a lot of references to other classical composers or their cues in here. that's why it's such a great piece to invest time into because one can learn a lot from it.

  • 2:17 *-*

  • i dont understand how this doesnt have more views...honestly

  • I'm gonna cry this is so good.

hoooly crap. Wish i could play like that.

  • How long did this take you to learn? I've been trying to play this for about a month(on GermanSeabass's version because I can't get the book and read Chinese).

  • @woodsyde Hi, I practiced the piece for about five months. I had to learn the technique from scratch as I had never played something like this before. If the technique is new to you, you'll need to invest some serious time into this, but it's worth it. And in that case, getting the official version would be a good idea because it has all the notes written out and you don't need to construct or improv the piece while you play (you don't need to read any Japanese or Chinese as well). Greetings

  • my cover took me my whole summer and im still adding stuff in yours is very good

  • You have very good technique.

  • Waw ! i'm your fan ! I try to play " musique pour la tristesse de xion " but it's very hard. And you play it perfectly like all your videos !! Amazing =D

  • incredible skill and cordination you should give urself a at on the back, u might even become famous.lol. you did a good job and you should keep at it pro and i know u think ur far from it but life is a second and in a second you can be whatever and ur pretty much a pro

You might say not at the moment and that might be true but u will be pro 0-0

  • my jaw just dropped on the floor. your version is REALLY AMAZING!! and here i am just uploaded an ordinary crappy cover of dearly beloved. i just started learning to play the piano for a couple of days now and i really can't help but feel discouraged :)) can i ask you for some tips, master Verdegrand?

  • @chadsenga Hello, sorry for my late reply. Hah, thank you for your kind words. I am far away from being a master actually, I am struggling myself and I had to invest a lot of time into this piece last year until I could play it like this. No reason to feel discouraged, I just played for a long time, and if you practice for a long time, there will be results :) So by all means, if you have any (specific) questions or whatever, go ahead and I'll do my best to help. Greetings

  • @Verdegrand I think you underestimate your talent. You see, my grandmother (who raised me) taught music, and always loved classical music. As such, I grew up with an ear for it. Believe me when I say you're one of the most talented pianists I have ever seen on YouTube.

  • @Verdegrand You should really try to learn kyle landry's version on youtube of dearly beloved.. He has sheets posted under his 2008 video. I'm playin them for my recital and maybe graduation for 2 thousand people if i learn it by may.. I've got 3 out of 12 sheets down in a month and it's almost as challenging as this piece.. get back to me and let me know if you're going to take a stab at it:)

  • @benster333 you aren't the only one who suggested this, i plan to learn some of his arrangements in the future, but at this point i can't tell you when that might possibly be. but thanks for the suggestion.

  • @chadsenga i feel the same way, and ive been playing for 6 years. theres always gonna be someone to top you, and you just have to keep working at it, cuz one day, well both be able to play this. :)

  • You not a human!

  • I wish we could see your hands properly, the song you are playing is such a sight to see <3

  • Would it be inappropriate for me to say that this was orgasmic?

  • fantastic

  • I dont hate other pianists. The person it selfs cant be judged by its piano playing.

When I typed verion, it should be version. But youtube hasnt got a way to edit comments. I saw that too.

  • how long did it take for you to learn this?

  • Only 4000 [estimated] views?! This should be million. :)

  • oh my freakin' god!

  • This should have more views. People need to see this type of excellence!

  • I found my fingers always to be sluggish the first time I practice it (which can be troublesome in a performance)

Do you do any finger warming exercises beforehand, or do you just go through the runs?

  • That was a perfect setting for a depressing yet up lifting song.

  • is this the original version becuase if it is can you give me the piano sheets, i want to compare them to german seabass's

  • do you have the piano sheets to this?

  • lol at this angle we can see the pedaling, good stuff!

  • People need to stop comparing versions and just enjoy the music.

You play it wonderfully, Verdegrande, with much accuracy and emotion.

You have a lot of talent. <3

  • @starfire139 the only reason why we compare is so that piano players can get the version they want, and which was is better to play

  • PRo!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kyle Landry's arrangement is WAYYY better.

  • Okay. Its about the performance, not the sheet music right?

    this is just owning....

  • Your house reminds me of W3sp's house. Nohomo

  • SeaBass' version might miss a lot of the subtleties that the official version has, but he still did an incredible job of getting the sheets made in such a short period of time.

  • So beautiful ^_^

  • wow, you improved by 5X than before! nice job, keep going!

  • It sounds beautiful , I'm especially impressed with your pedaling and how smooth it is...but I feel like you rushed through a lot of it. At some parts, the tempo fit perfectly. But others I felt you could have played more slowly, and brought out more dynamic change (then again, the whole video is quiet, so that's probably the reason I don't hear as much variation as I'd like).

that said, it puts my attempts at playing this to shame (: deep, deep shame.

  • this was very amazing. gets me back to when i was playing kingdom hearts :D

  • my god.... what i would do to be able to play this piece...

  • Well, let's start with something manageable:

would you... practise 3-6 hours a day every day until you got it?

  • @CleverDjembe, no, cause with my current skill level, that would still take me years lol

  • @marquistadorousss

How will you gain the skill level to play this piece then if not through practise?

  • dude holy shit. this is amazing. i mean i cant even play it like this and ive had the book and cd since they were released. how long did it take you to master it like this? but really good job.

  • no he shouldnt.

    GermanSeabass played it incorrect.

Listen to 2:17 and than to GermanSeabass' dearly beloved. That you'll see this transcription is absolutely ugly.

  • Please bear in mind that his version, while incorrect at parts, was transcribed by ear before the actual sheet music book was even available for purchase.

  • @L4RSLink Yeah that's sort of true but I appreciate what GermanSeabass did. In my opinion this is the definitive version on youtube. I can't see it being deposed ever.

  • You've inspired me to learn this piece! Although, I can hardly get through the second page at a Moderato speed.

Once again, this is truly amazing. And I had to remind myself that I wasn't listening to the soundtrack.

  • you should check out kylelandry videos he does excellent as well. . . you guys are about on par with each other . . . heh, you would even give freddy kempf a run for his money . . . excellent playing . . . it can't get much better than what you have played . . . absolutely brilliant

  • Go Kyle!!!!!!

  • i watched this the first time and right away i subscribed :D loved it!

  • This is SO NICE!

Your the only one who plays it right I think.

    I hate GermanSeabass' verion

  • You gotta give GermanSeabass some credit though. He learned the song AND transcribed it in 3 days x_x.

  • yeah guys shouldn't hate it on his version. GermanSeabass did his best arranging it. He also made his a few weeks before the actual book came out.

  • @L4RSLink

    i like germanseabass

but i have to admit i dont like his version

  • @Over9my9Head Hm I think we should cut GermanSeabass some slack here - I believe he was aware of the inaccuracies, and I think he simply didn't care, because I think his doing the transcription was a "fan action" - he transcribed it within a couple of days because he was very enthusiastic about it, and I think he just wanted to play it ASAP. So, for such a thing, it is a very impressive accomplishment. The result is a different version which has inaccuracies, but also a distinct sound and style.

  • @Verdegrand I agree. His version had mistakes but the overall tone was very powerful and emotional. I liked it. I like this version too. Clean and delicate.

  • @Over9my9Head This is the official version, why don't you like it :s

  • @L4RSLink Dude don't hate on other pianists. If you are going to be like that at least post a video of you playing something amazing so we all know that your critique is legitimate. Also learn to spell the word version.

  • Very nice

sounds exactly like the one on the soundtrack

  • woha, grand and this piece + you as pianist = superb again :)

2 or 3 small mistakes, but this only proves you are still "human" as some use to say xD

damn i finally want to be at this level, but this will take some more weeks of practice :P

  • Absolutely amazing, yet again. I've seen a ton of pianists on youtube, but I think you take the crown. Magnifiscent playing.

  • @unusualcatperson i guess I'm overwhelmed by both of your amazing skills. I'm just an amature still learning, but your two are my inspirations and I will try as hard as I can to be like you. No infringment intended on either of you for your amazing skills. Keep up the good work and God bless.

  • Oh my god this is very nice. And thanks for making me realize that KH Piano Collections actually exists! O_o

  • DANG! I think kyle landry might not be able to pull this off....

  • @GuitarHero016 Kyle has done much harder. Watch his latest Dearly Beloved on the P-155. The intro to that is WAY harder to pull off than this. Not saying that this is bad or anything, it's amazing, but Kyle could definitely do it.

  • Wasn't expecting this. :O

Nice work once again, I see what you meant by 'disappearing bass notes' from your first video. All the notes were nice and crisp from what I could hear. :3

  • wow.... this is just too great to be expressed by words

  • Also, this was beyond excellent.

  • Really I want every zohar song you have played on this piano like this. Your clavinova sounds nice, but nothing replaces a good ole' acoustic grand.

Corridors of time on this grand, please!

  • eee - amazing job!

your control of the pedal and the way that you manage to articulate every note without it ever sounding 'muddy' is truly incredible!

    worth beyond five stars!

  • Og im your fan numbre one :D , I want to play it , i need to , makes m feel ... Amazing but i can`t yet , this sounds fantastic , regards from Mexico

  • O.o, your good. keep up the good work.

  • Your videos. They are awesome.

  • Amazing. Your technique is at a professional level.

  • This video is perfect. I need to learn this!! :D

  • Truly wonderful!! Amazing :D

  • You're amazing man

can't believe you have so little subscribers

  • @n1bigdaddy i don't think people appreciate a great pianist the way they used to.

  • Yeppers. The propaganda system of consumer society makes us do repetitive, meaningless tasks and tries to kill our passion and appreciation for art.
