My uncle has an 79 Long Nose Pete....he's running a 12v71TT in that bad boy...Long live the Detroit two stroke diesel and FUCK the EPA cocksucking faggots..
Long life but fuel eaters. They were good in the days when diesel was cheap. Todays 4 strokes are far more efficient on fuel and deliver the same or more power. Less noise and smoke.
@Technoid52 very true, heck a new chevy duramax puts out more power than a 8V92 does, but for being designed in 1935 with the 6-71 put into the first trucks in 1938 and produced until the ddec 6v71 in buses until 1995 one has to admit this is the worlds best diesel!
@Technoid52 Less noise, yes. Less emissions, yes. More power for fuel consumption, no. Less smoke, no. 2 cycle detroit diesels can pass any 4 stroke on anything except the epa's tests. They DON"T smoke under load like a 4 stroke unless they are tired. And anyone who has actually run one thinks they sound awesome despite being loud. It's pretty sad when 1930's technology can outperform modern diesels, yet are only left in the past because the epa are a bunch of butt plugging fucktards.
The college i went to had an 8v71 on a test stand where you could run it and adjust the racks and all that crap. That thing was so wore out you could breathe on it wrong and it would run away. But it sure did sound good with no mufflers on it! I love em.
GM made all kinds of diesel engines. Ever heard of Detroit Diesel? The name was changed from GM Diesel to Detroit Diesel in the 60's. There were millions of Detroit Diesel engines used in semi trucks, tractors, pumps, generators, and any other application you can think of. Sadly, the EPA faggots and their enviro-hysteria put an end to the 2-stroke Detroit engines in the late 90's.
Your right about that, screaming Jimmy's powered thousands of trucks, buses, and everything in between. They were also one of the most responsive diesels ever made.
@Blue10AEMia its safe to say screamin jimmy's built america and most of the interstate system, logged most of our forests as even seen in todays ax men yarder. The 6-71 and the 8v71 to be specfic. The 12V71 is also used in all oder hayes and pacific 100 ton off highway trucks. most are viewable here on youtube
@bigchevy80 now the same EPA Faggots have put an end to on road caterpillar diesels with a new diesel exhaust fluid injection requirement that was just passed. caterpillar decided they had enough fighting epa
@bigchevy80 Don't forget sherman tanks and almost every landing craft that saved out country during world war 2. The shermans had a power pack that was two 6-71s put together with a common tranny and the landing craft used 6-71s and 4-71s. The countless other apps i cannot remember, but 2 cycle detroits built what we have right now. made it possible.
And u are a fucking ass; excuse me if i did not know they made generators u stupid fuck; there is no reason for u to be that way towards me I did NOTHING and said NOTHING like that to u...geezus man take a hint and get a fucking life

@rorybz You can even hear the blower humming as the engine comes up to speed.

@Technoid52 Want a fuel eater? Try a 903 cummins! You'd go broke operating one of these. We had one on a Trojan 3000 loader...

@9020powrmax 3208 cat is pretty horrible on the fuel also. We have one in a Ford C8000 that's never gotten over 6 MPG.
