  • Jamey is one of the greatest in my book thanks for the upload

  • FYI: Thats not George Jones music, Vern Gosdin sang this song!

  • A true country talent singing "The Voice."

  • he reminds me of john prine only better..........

  • dont call him jamey...lets just call him the king

  • he reminds me of waylon when he performs and kris k. with his writing. a hell of an all around artist and a true outlaw.

  • the MAN enough said..

  • he fits in more with waylon, david allan coe and johnny paycheck,i seen him in southhaven at the willienelson country throwdown tour and got the chance to meet him and family he is a humble nice guy

  • have seen bocephus 8 times waylon 3 g.jones 4 hag 3 and many others this guy is one more great album from being mentioned with these guys and not to many have heard his very first album they call me country and it is much better than the dollar

  • @waycephus623 i agree brother ...

  • COUNTRY MUSICS ONLY FUCKING CHANCE!

  • @notfarc1 him and Shooter yes

  • A great song by a great singer, covered by countrys last life line.

  • I believe that my uncle Vern would be honored that Jamey re-made this song. RIP Vern Gosdin.

  • Rest in Peace Vern, but at least we have a true country artist to cover it. Thank you Jamey for being true to the sound.

  • He not the

  • I just appreciate that the appreciates this music!!!!

  • Country is being flooded with pop, real country singers music is pushed off the charts by requests for what was rock and pop in the 80's. At one time there were rock stations that would play much of this crap and free up the country station for George Jones, Loretta Lynn, etc, when The Vanlear Rose was released, it recieved little play, Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy run every 30 minutes with similar.

  • vern would be proud

  • there is no one in country music that can sing a vern gosdin song and make it sound good cause the voice is the voice and nobody can do it but jamey johnson is as good as it gets and i believe he is the only person i want to hear a vern gosdin song other than the voice himself

  • @zelker25 Amen to that. Vern Gosdin was my uncle, and I do believe he would be proud of Jamey!

  • jamey is the man !

  • Not many people can do "The Voice" proud....but he definitely did!!!!

  • I was there! Love it!

  • Cowboyfan1113... I said Jamey Johnson was great...but in my honest opinion. NO one can do a Vern Gosdin song as well as the voice himself...I think I have every cd he has ever made..Sorry.. don;t mean to offend you!!!...;)..but that doesn't mean I don't think Jamey isn't great also......love him too.

  • Jamey, you are great...I love your voice. But you are no Vern Gosdin.. This song has Vern's name all over it!!!!

  • @batouchofclass I agree that not many people have a voice that could sing a country song like Verne. However Jamey does do a heck of a job on this song and he is great. Just wish there were more "country singers" left besides Jamey, George Strait and Alan Jackson.

  • This is by far one of the best covers of this song. I love just about every song by the late Vern Gosdin and I have heard alot of covers for this song but once again this one is one of the best.

  • great job Jamey. I swear you could sing the phone book and I'd swoon! <3

  • "The Voice" Vern Gosdin would be proud.

  • he isgreat this is real music

  • REAL COUNTRY !!!!!!!!!

  • man this song is hittin me hard as hell right now man them women can be rough

  • I'MA REBEL!!! GO JIMMY WAYNE!

  • tear to my eye, and goose bumps, real country music, not like that pop country sheit they got now a days

  • @emahevul: You've got to be crazy. You're listening to JJ LIVE...LIVE...something you don't get from other artists anymore, because they CAN'T SING. He sounds amazing LIVE, and even better once the records are "doctored" in the studio. JJ is also an amazing songwriter, just look up his songs, most of the songs that have reached the top 10 in the past few years have his signature on them. He is an amazing artist, but he doesn't fit into what people are calling "country" now.

  • subaby we meet again......lol. Three weeks to go!!!

  • GOOD-GOSH-A-MIGHTY this man can SING!!!! Give me goosebump... HELLUVA voice!!

  • This is one of the all time greatest songs, sung by someone who will be known as one of the all time greatest singer / songwriters, Jamey Johnson. Outstanding Job

  • wow...what a shot in the arm for country music today...2 words...freakin' awesome!

  • I am a huge, longtime Vern Gosdin fan, always loved Kris Kristofferson and am now a fan of Jamey Johnson, it is SO NICE to hear someone who sounds COUNTRY and who has a steel guitar in their lineup today: RARE...

WAY TO GO Jamey!!!! LOVE IT!

  • why must be we bring up kristopherson he was a much better song writter than a singer he was more famous for sunday morning coming down when cash did it than anything.jamey or daryle would blow him out of the water vocally.and daryle can outsing anyone after jones jamey sang the shit out of this song

  • well let kristofferson sing vern gosdin and see how it sounds..... this right here sounds pretty darn good to me. And judging by its reviews from everyone else it sounds pretty good too.

  • emahevual... I couldnt disagree with you more, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Kristofferson doesnt have a great voice, while Jamey can take a Vern Gosdin and George Jones song and do it justice. Anyone who can sing Vern or George (the two greatest voices and vocal ranges in the history of country music) and make it sound good is doing something spectacular. Like Jamey says hes right there between Jennings and Jones,,,,

  • Now see, I would have to disagree with you about the quality of Jamey's singing. I don't think it is that great, which was one of the 2 reasons I drew a comparison to Kris Kristofferson, the other being his songwriting skills. That however, doesn't lessen my appreciation for him. Jamey Johnson is the first real indication in a long time of a welling up of a new "outlaw movement" similar to that which swept through the country landscape in the '70's. That is what is most striking to me about him.

  • I hate critics, he's a great singer and writer. So fucking leave this man alone. His words are true and his musics great.

  • No arguments about him. I've already expressed an appreciation for both his singing and songwriting skills.

  • @sferryballer1 George and Vern are/were great singers...but they are not known for their vocal range. They are known for a great sounding voice. When it comes to range there is no match for Mr. Bocephus. He has the range that most singers can only dream about and never achieve. This Jamey Johnson guy is only a step behind those greats. He needs to polish up a bit on his stage talk, but he has the voice. He sounds a lot like David Allen Coe.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE he dont talk on stage these days

  • I certainly wouldn't compare Jamey to George Jones. Their styles are quite a bit different. However, in my opinion, if you go back and compare him to Kris Kristofferson, you will see more similarities.

  • @emahevul is see the comparison to Kris on the songwriting for sure.

  • @emahevul or waylon and willie :)

  • Comment removed

  • @emahevu.....Vern Godsin song douche.....and Jamey can be compared to George,Waylon.Merle Haggard.....all th good country singer/song writers, see i just did it

  • My 2 favorite singers in the whole world...Jamey Johnson & Vern Gosdin...god bless his soul.

  • Amen buddy

  • Well I will say this, George Jones is my favorite singer. I've actually met him. I've seen Jamey Johnson in concert 4 times and I've seen Daryle Singletary 4 times, met Daryle as well. Both Jamey and Daryle are amazing with similar styles. I think they are both awesome. They actually both sang on the tombstone of hank williams grave together after doing a concert in Montgomery. Thank you Jamey and Daryle for carrying on traditonal country music.

  • I really like Jamey, but to say he is this Generation's Jones is a bit of stretch. I appreciate him doing the old ones. You guys should check out Daryle Singletary. He is the "countriest" guy in Nashville, and possibly the most underrated singer in history. Jamey is not in his league and Jamey will even tell you that. Everyone in this town knows the injustice that is Music Row execs. ignoring Singletary, the best singer of his generation.

  • Jamey's carrying the torch...today's ' Voice' singing 'The Voice'.

  • just keep being your self dont let them change you

  • Wow! That'll give you chills down your spine! When's the last time your standard country/pop song did that?!?!?

  • EXACTLY!!!

  • the hottest man alive!

  • unfortunately, drunks hollering probably didn't know the Vern Gosdin song they were hollering for.

  • Jamey Johnson is country today. He is the George Jones of our generation.

  • totally agree!! amazing

  • Ya, I'll will agree, but Thomas Sheffield deserves a place in country music! He is also a singer from that era at only a young age!! And his brother, Lynn Sheffield, a hell of a country guitar picker have tried to do it and keep gettin turned away!!! because their too country!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with the best country artist going today. He's awesome.

  • It means alot when Jamey plays other artist songs. He is real country and this song by Vern Gosdin is the real deal,Vern would be proud!

  • There still many of us out there like you Jamey that love the ole stuff and we are not that old. we just know good shit when we here it.

so I ask "Do You Believe Me Now"

  • The best country artist going today

  • talk about cold chills man.

  • i love everything he sings-if you ever get the chance to see him live DON'T MISS IT

  • so i should catch the concert near my town in November?

  • Love this song! Jamey sings it almost better than Vern did!

  • DAMN!!! Sing it JJ! I'll think I'll drink another one....WOOOOOOOO!

  • WELL DONE I MISS VERN GREAT JOB JAMEY

  • Jamey is AWESOME! He is real country music!

  • I whole heartedly agree with dffdixie88! I still love and PLAY real country music!

  • The only real up and comin OUTLAW in this poor excuse for a world that is called country music, besides the real ones left, hank jr, hag, willie, ect!!!! Atleast when there gone we will still have Jamey!!!!

  • @dffdixie88 AMEN TO THAT. People today are losing touch with what real music is,and should be. We need more like Jamey!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP Vern Gosdin The Music Lives ON

  • songs that make us realise we still love!!!

  • country's back

  • Just gives me chills.....love him!

    Thanks for posting.

  • nice :)

  • bought a new guitar and started playing again after 6 year dry spell. thanks jamey you might have saved my life.

  • the man is amazing , i took my uncle and he said it took him back to the waylon show 20 years ago , we got pics and met him , freggin awesome best in country music of the new breed

  • @Rebelcountryboy We'll see on April 8th I'll finally get to see JJ live in a great venue,by himself! I can't wait.. I've seen alot of the greats,Waylon twice, Hank Jr. twice, George Jones, David Alan Coe, and i can't wait to see this guy live!

  • i'm stick'n with what dixiebloodhound said! tuff chit right there

  • Yeah...this guys the real deal! What country is supposed to be!

  • If you don't have the entire CD and haven't seen him in concert you are missing out. This is like seeing and hearing Hank Jr., Waylon and Coe 25 years ago. This man writes his own songs(Kristoferson and Coe esque). His CD is like listening to Habits Old and New and DAC Rides Again together. He'll be a legend before he is through.

  • i tell you this man can sing anything and make it sound great would love to see him live he seems like a good ole down home country boy would love to just sit and play and sing with him not that im any good but would be a blast i bet keep up the great work man

  • Thanks!!

  • HAHA, good times.
