  • A fucking masterpiece...

    Speechless.

  • :-(

  • a zit video suggestion on a W.A.S.P song, really?! pfffff what a stupid stupid thing.

  • godamn!!ive only heard two songs (this and The idol) and these are some powerful songs! I can only imagine what the entire album is like.

  • @LynxOGrady phenominal album - if you like these get the album and wear it out like i did

  • @LynxOGrady Get the special edition cd for this album and yes it's powerful

  • @grstallions87 I already got it and i have zero buyers remorse. Fantsatic album

  • @LynxOGrady I used the song "Titanic Overture" for my Music appreciation class and the Prof loved it since it was very different compared to what most of the class offered. Plus, when i first mentioned W.A.S.P. you should have seen my classmates' faces and then they were stunned when I was done. The presentation was supposed to last 5 mins after you played the song, she cut me off at 4 mins and wrote 100.

  • I freakin' love this song!

"The Crimson Idol" was one of the two first vinyl records I got, together with "The Last Command"! :D that was around 1 year ago or so, and now I have around 115 vinyls haha (still growing ^^)

  • The best cry from a best player

  • The pinnacle of an era. Whatasong!

  • It's not really worth insulting those who disliked the video.... But I can't understand WHY would anyone dislike it.... Well FUCK YOU DISLIKER!

  • The BEST ballad in HISTORY!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAH!

  • This is definitely the song I want the guests at my funeral to hear!!!!

  • @masterx6583 You want people to hear a song about a guy killing himself with guitar strings?

  • @MrDismemberment Yes and the rest of the words about mama who never needed him too

  • @MrDismemberment You clearly know nothing about what the song is about...

  • @Cee1003 I do, He just didn't make any sense, he wanted the song to play at his funeral, when the lyrics are about a boy becoming a rockstar, calling his parents, them saying "We don't have a son", then couldn't handle the fame and killed himself. It would be a little misleading.

  • wish I could have his voice

  • There comes along every now and then a song that is a true master piece when it comes to metal this is one of those songs

  • It is a superb album on of the best ever made

  • Awesome job by Blackie (F)lawless!!!!! ;)

  • Gotta love his voice and the debth in it, especially in that "I don't wanna be" -part. Stops your heart beat, especially if you know any background. Great artist, contradictory though.

  • 5 people came looking for Justin Bieber and found music

  • The album must be highly influenced by The Wall by Pink Floyd..

  • @luckymouse.I believe to there is more to Blackie in this then what he is letting on with. That is coming from being a long time fan of his.I believe he nearly did take his own life,in the same time his fans saved him.

  • @laurel614

It's true, he did attempt suicide by hanging himself before The Crimson Idol was recorded. There's an article about that in the Archives section of the WASP Nation site.

  • @TheSilentCreature Hi,I heard about a situation on the mid to late eighties. If so that may of been his second attempt.I am glad he didn't.I got a shock when i was told.I knew some-one who knew him (then).Hope he sees this,i still wish to meet him.:)

  • All W.A.S.P. songs is best!

  • "It was all I ever wanted, everything I dreamed

But the dream became my nightmare and no-one could hear me scream

    With these six-strings, I make a noose

To take my life, it's time to choose

The headlines read of my suicide, of my suicide"

That part of the song always makes me shiver. W.A.S.P. are amazing.

  • amazing song and much missed band, all you bands out there read em and weep you will never be this good......

  • Best Album ever :)

  • i shudder everytime i hear this song

  • This Is Doubtless the best rock ballad ever recorded!

Kick-ass story...Can an album have a better and more epic ending than this! The correct answer is no...And those bright and soft synth strings in the background combined with the acoustic guitar! And then the rock out part comes!totally awesome

LONG LIVE BLACKIE LAWLESS,DOCTOR ROCKTER AND THE KING OF MERCY!

  • EPIC TRULLY EPIC!!!

  • never ceases to send shivers down my spine. Pure power in Blackies voice. You trully feel what he is trying to get across. I love Blackie and the rest of the band.

  • Definetly the most powerful, emotional song I've heard in my life.

  • this song has a very deep soul and some great meanings unlike any other modern pop musics...

  • 9 min, 45 sec.... I wish it was longer.... I'm so addicted to this song. Love it.

  • @MrViggosson yeah dude.. its soo emotional....

  • this would be great music to die to!

  • Ok who is the emo prick that disliked this

  • blackies raw emotion is filled in this whole album

even though this album is about someone that isnt real, i believe you have to go through something like this to have such feel in your voice and to have such moving lyrics. this is definitely blackies best work and should be remembered forever... when blackie passes on (hopefull not too soon) these are the songs everyone will remember, because they were so true and powerful

  • This band rocks!!!

  • WASP IS SOOOOOO GREAT!!!

  • blackie lawless enuff said

  • as a life long WASP fan, I have to say this album blew me away

  • I think it is a great achievement to make an album with merely one lovesong in it such a huge success-well done!

  • I was dying in the shadows and the mirror was my soul

It was all I ever wanted, everything I dreamed

But the dream became my nightmare and no-one could hear me scream..........

  • when bill hicks said "Play from your fucking heart" im pretty sure he meant this blackie has so much soul when he sings

  • actually torby2112 i think you'll find if you continue your research this is a concept album that is entirely fictional but based on things that blackie had seen in his life. not an actual account of his life.

  • Even though Blackie Lawless(Steven Duren)has always said that this ablum is about a fictional character "Johnathan Steele". Many believe that this is Blackie's real life story. One of the most powerful albums ever made. Blackie poured himself into this for 3 years, before ever recording a note. This album is truely Blackie's masterpiece. My personal favorite of all time, spanning all genres of music.

  • @luckymouse1971 I couldn't have put it better myself.

In fact The Idol saved my life when I was going through some rough shit back in the day.

  • @Nagrom0709 same here. this should come to hall of fame. not often to find an album, including so much heart, power and clever lyrics. by the way i ove the powerful drumming in this song. like nunchakus

  • No, this is kind of a biography lifestory of a tyoung friend of blackie tho took his life... hung himself in guitarstrings as the lyrics say... to really live into the story listen to The story of Jonathon... Thats the whole summation of the lbum... the whole album is stuck together ... so when you listen to it you vant just jum between which is the best song... you´ve gotta start with the first and end with last... that way you cvan dfollow the whole story... enjoy!! Cya!

  • blackies whole life story summed up right here. FUCKING BRILLIANT

  • sick song. such a sad ending though

  • Greatest song on the (probably) greatest album of all time!

  • I heard W.A.S,P. when i was a 15 Year old teenager, im still loving it! Thank You for sharing

  • This song helped when I was really down. It is so real. Thank you for sharing

  • I don't know, I think it's a fictional story

  • blackie admitted that there are only 2 songs which are kind of autobiographic - chainsaw charlie, who is composed of many people he knows from the music business and the song "the gypsy meets the boy"; blackie had his fortune told 2 times by 2 different persons and it all has come true

  • I see

  • nope. this is all true. read the liner notes. blackies name is jonathan steele. trust me

  • I thought it was Steven Duren?

  • But it's about the family Steel

  • And Blackie's name is Steven Edward Duren ...

  • Troll elsewhere

  • thats great. I see intelligence and common sense passed you by. why the harsh reply?

  • Why lying?

  • Yeah, ever thought about that this is a story he's telling? A fictional one

  • @pwnzerleet LMAO It isn't fictional its about his life do your research

  • @torby2112 fool waspnation com/crimson html
