@MrAlCeRo What you need to do is create a menu module for your new menu. Please see the Tutorial on "How to create a new menu module in Joomla 2.5 / 1.7
This is driving me mad. How do you create a link to the submenu without having to post an article in the main menu item? Basically how do you create a simple blank page where only the submenu items appear?
@ian559fresno Create an article page in Article Manager, and then take that article's URL and paste it into the "Link" field where you created your submenu.
@ian559fresno For each sub-meun item choose the type you want it to be. Example. Article etc. Then in the sub menu items properties select the article you want the item to point to.
@Ghary001 Hi, The following tutorial HOW TO CREATE A NEW MENU MODULE IN JOOMLA 1.6 will show you how the menu for the sub menu items was created including the Parent menu item. You will find the tutorial on joomlage channel

i don't want to make my submenu a link. i want ti put articles in it. so choose "featured articles". when viewing the site, this appeared:
404 - Category not found
You may not be able to visit this page because of:
an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
a mistyped address
you have no access to this page

@PktMma Try using a menu item type Text separator.

@Joomlage Thanks but I finally solved the problem by linking a hidden article. So I'm off to my next Joomla-ache!

@V3n9eanc3 In your menu module set the basic option for your menu module to "Show sub menu-items" to "No"
