I think they'll need a few hours wire brushing by some willing volunteers, but they certainly look in good nick considering the time spent standing idle, maybe the tar helped to preserve them?, they ran off the wagon without a squeak, great video Bob, cheers.
Another unusual and good vid, nice to see the tanks beat the scrapyard. I noticed the greenery, on the rear tank, as the tanks approached the railway - done on purpose/or a dive into a tree, who knows!
@bladesman123 Thanks Dave, if you look closer, only one has the spoked wheels, the other has the newer holed wheels...Thanks as always for watching...Bob
Absolutely superb, Bob, I was riveted to the spot throughout. Those old tankers, if only they could talk, just watching them roll off the trailer, the sounds etc was brilliant.
Wonder how old they are, they look like some old book about to be dusted off and reborn again.
Fantastic video, really enjoyed every second of this. Look forward to the next instalment in this saga...
@penninefilms This centre has been in existence for many years, and has a Web Page if you would like to look it up, it gives you all the facts you need...Bob
Really Bob, you must have a very good hot-line to absolutely everywhere! But you make the most of it, and your usual meticulous technique gives it the pro flavour! Smashing, to coin a phrase! . . . . Alan
Very interested to see the "Thomas Ness Tar Plant" plates at 3:25 on the video. That means that the wagons used to be just across the other side of the BR line from the Caerphilly Society, so I've probably seen them in their working days!...Mervyn
Excellent trilogy of films Bob. Lovely to see films from preserved lines at the "other end of the scale" as it were. A rather unique way to get the vehicles of the trailers too. All the best....Tim.
Keeping Alley`s busy down your end Bob, and of course the restoration Boy`s will be keeping busy, well captured , I like the way they roll off the trailor and down the track, with Mr. Alleys keeping the chain tied to stop it if neccessary
@howarth004 The look on Stuart's face the owner of the Leyland coach was a picture as these two wagons headed towards his vehicle...but all was under control....Thanks Dave as always....Bob
