No, she is very alive and well thankfully! She worked hard to keep the show fresh and ensemble like (similar to Mary Tyler Moore.) The producers wanted to go the way of more of a teen comedy with Jason Bateman. Ultimately Valerie lost and was fired. She took the series to court over a heated lawsuit and won... although since her character was killed off the show, she obviously couldn't return.
I mean I know it kinda was because Mark says"Its not funny David" but Mark laughed too at first....The laugh just seemed real to me...I dont know,I notice weird things
Good question... It is the same studio, yes... but not the same set. Also shot in this studio was Step By Step, Perfect Strangers and other Miller/Boyett sitcoms.
The Hogan Family shared a set with Family Matters for their pilot in 1989, but soon after Family Matters received their own set -- with a very similar floor plan to that of The Hogan Family.
notice the credits has the family outside most of the time, however, most of the series has the family around the house??? anybody notice besides me??
A lot of sitcoms did that; in fact every Miller Boyett Sitcom did that: Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers... the list goes on. A majority of the openings of those shows were filmed outside of the studio.
Another studio blooper - right in the beginning as Willie walks into the kitchen, you can see the shadow of the far left camera moving out of the way so the center camera can truck left.
I loved Valerie's friendship with Annie. Annie was hysterical, especially in the ep where Val has a secret admirer. Her timing was top notch. I wish she had been on the show longer. Her friendship with Valerie was right up there with Lucy & Ethel and Mary & Rhoda. And I agree, Season 2's writing really improved the show. It's the best season of the whole series in my opinion (except for a few eps at the end of Season 2).
Wow Willie looks like season 1 Mark and Mark looks like season 1 Willie.
I was so confused at the beginning why Willie was wearing a suit! They could really be twins, the hair is the only difference.

I love the comedy of this, Val jumps two feet when Willie surprises her.

Plus they were paying Jason much more than she was getting as the star of the series?

ARe the twins half brothers of David? I mean he's the only one that shows concern for Valerie's passing.

Annie was funny but not as funny as Mrs. Pool.

Nice episode, cute. Loved the desperate phone call: "Annie, come now, bring milk!". That's what friends are for, lol
