Of course! YES is way above any tripe those clowns could understand! Remember, Music awards are all about mediocrity, not actual knoledge.Yes makes you think and anything that makes you think is never considered by the music establishment. Yes is a spiritual learning tool and a truth functioner. I gave up on all modern music after YES because all of it is drival compared to classic YES and Jon Anderson-these days. Remember if it's about sex and stupidity,it will probably make the music awards....
The melody starting at 12:50 is the most beautiful i've have ever heard. Yes is a fantastic band, and is in my top 3 along with Genesis and King Crimson. Relayer is my favorite Yes album, along with TFTO and Close to the Edge.
Hey, if you are a big prog fan do a search on Youtube for 'As It Is' by Patrick Gabriel Doyle - it's new music but in that classic prog idiom - it's in 6 parts on youtube and of course in keeping with the tradition, it takes a few listens to get into it, y'know :-)
This song is among the greatest tunes ever recorded. Whether or not they are inducted into the rrhof means nothing. Anyone can hear the genius of this artistic endevor for themselves.
One of the best Yes compositions, what a story in song this is!!! Also just visited Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and yes, there is no Yes...How is this possible????
This past summer I met Jon Anderson twice in Chicago and Milwaukee, and took pictures with him..OMG!!

I have made high quality professional transcriptions of music by Mike Oldfield, Yes and Rick Wakeman amongst othersand I would like to let everybody know that I am available to transcribe any YES music so do feel free to email me for a quote. I pride myself on the quality and detail of my work.
I wore out all of my Yes albums ! I would listen to these songs on headphones, cranked up and even replay them over and over ! I could not believe that much skill existed in one band.
Gentle Giant is also crazy unique and complex! Try a listen to Knots or Advent of Panurge on youtube! Actually watch "Exceprts from Octopus" the one in Brussels Germany. Its also on youtube! let me know what you think.
Bought this on vinyl ages ago. I had never heard of it and saw it in some bargain rack for like $3. I played the hell out of it. Always loved The Gates. Haven't heard it in years.
Here's one of the least funny jokes you'll ever hear (or in this case, read):

Punchline: Yes isn't in it.

@dmreeoogdaq Great holistic bands are-Gong, Melting Euphoria, Ozric Tentacles, Sphongle, System 7, Eat Static, Aphrodities Child, Jade Warrior, Magma, Steve Tibbetts, Larry Coryell, Oregon, Shakti, Patrick Bernard, Lost at Last, Kazumi Watanabe, Stomu Yamashta, Magical Power Mako, Toninho Horta.
@dmreeoogdaq Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). He was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 the Society of Jesus(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the 3rd and last time. The Society of Jesus(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries, city states and cities and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS).
@dmreeoogdaq "The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the American's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight."
@dmreeoogdaq Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami, Jordan Maxwell and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well. p.s. Melting Euphoria is similar to Ozric Tentacles and Gong.
@dmreeoogdaq If Yes would have disbanded after this album, they might have made it to the RRHF. Trevor Rabin, the corporate lacky sent to "save" Yes by writing Pop mass-marketable tunes, kinda took the band another direction. That messed up period saw them writing songs that are synonymous with an embarrassing era of music. Drama should have been the band name after Howe left. Asia was the rebound relationship. Huuuuge egos in Yes, Ivory Tower huuuuge.
@dmreeoogdaq For sure. I live about an hour away from it and I went there in the summertime.
I am more shocked that Kiss isn't in it! I mean, I hate Kiss, but they're, c'mon, rock stereotypes.
Have a lot of good people and memorbilia in there, but at the same time, a lot left out. I'm surprised that they had PETER GABRIEL ERA Genesis in there.

I am very surprised to learn this fact. Greatest rock and roll musicians in history. No better collection of musicians in the history of rock music. No matter what kind of rock. Don't doubt me either. I know what I'm talking about.

@musicisawesomeness dude same age, same feeling one of the most talented group of musicians i know.... now this woould be almost impossible in the music industry cause most of 2days "artists" are no more than a pretty face or stripper
@dd1781 His videos were really just a series of Roger Dean's lanscapes occasionally interspersed with mediocre, anonymous, fantasy-type imagery with various transitioning techniques such as magnification, fade-in/-out, etc. Just supposed to be incidental to the music and try to enhance it. I only really followed his videos because the Yes music he downloaded was the directly recorded studio versions. All his account was really worth to me.
GENIUS! This album is Yes at the gates of Jazz Fusion! So many different flavors I hear: Rock, Jazz, Classical, Country, Irish, Italian and Greek Folk, American Bluegrass and MADNESS (If that's a genre)! Exceptional musicianship driven to the brink of INSANITY! I've been following Yes since 1968 when I was 7. Gates of Delirium is the greatest Yes song. The battle instrumental gives me chills to this day, especially the yell at 928!
I wish Pat Moraz would have done another album with Yes!
Okay there was a guy on Youtube who had all sorts of homemade really fantastic videos to go along with all of these great Yes songs and he just all of the sudden vanished along with all his videos! Anyone know what happened or what his name was?
you either .. are *into* yes or no!!... but Relayer one of the best Yes albums in my humbl e opinion.. Gates of delerium ...classic.. can just l chill in my chair and switch off..escape to the battlefield.. like reading a good book!!!! ??
Understand that I am indeed a Yes fanatic (my preferences include The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close To The Edge), but please provide an explanation for the nearly universal popularity of Relayer, or even at least The Gates of Delirium. The favoritism that it's given seems to me to be more than just a little undue...
@AwesomeCoasters yes, the war dialogue is the shits....it's what makes this my favorite yes song...only they could pull something of that magnitude off....
@pvtvitoguido Well, life is a battle, isn't it? Not necessarily always humans with each other, either. I think this song is like a release. Proof that they understand the war within.
Definetively one of Yes's best albums. This song is a critic to war for business, and mankind speaking like one to such incarnated in John's, Steve's and Chris's vocals. The middle section is actually the war scene, followed by the victory of light! :) Enjoy!
@cgarniero 'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. @cgarniero This passage is taken from Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum page 484 chapter 93
The only society known to us capable of rivaling us in these arts is that of the Jesuits. But we have succeeded in discrediting the Jesuits in the eyes of the stupid populace, because that society is an open organization, whereas we stay in the wings, maintaning secrecy. Protocol, v

His videography was actually an insult to Yes. As if their recordings required visual enhancement to be as beastly as they were. LOL

@TheBPSEnsemble Although I really like all of their cover art, especially this album and tales of topographic oceans

@TheBPSEnsemble Hmmm....was that a compliment or a put-down?

@SolarFederate His account was deleted by YouTube. It's a shame, his videos were incredible.

This song takes you into your own madness. . . it explores the interior of your mind and reveal the way you really are. . .

@AwesomeCoasters and by war dialogue, i mean the music....
pvtvitoguido 7 months ago
@pvtvitoguido Well, life is a battle, isn't it? Not necessarily always humans with each other, either. I think this song is like a release. Proof that they understand the war within.

The best of hard rock, metal, jazz, prog and symphonic all in one package. A true masterpiece.

Damn shame youtube only allows 15 minutes per video. All the best songs are at LEAST that long.
rfrakctured 10 months ago
Definetively one of Yes's best albums. This song is a critic to war for business, and mankind speaking like one to such incarnated in John's, Steve's and Chris's vocals. The middle section is actually the war scene, followed by the victory of light! :) Enjoy!

The only society known to us capable of rivaling us in these arts is that of the Jesuits. But we have succeeded in discrediting the Jesuits in the eyes of the stupid populace, because that society is an open organization, whereas we stay in the wings, maintaning secrecy. Protocol, v

@cgarniero Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). Incredibly creative bass playing. Possibly second only to Janick Top in De Futura, but only maybe.

@MEPG75 el mejor es close to the edge, para este punto el grupo ya estaba en decadencia.

@MEPG75 de hecho es uno bastante normalito, escuchate mejor Close to the Edge o Fragile, o Going for the One en su defecto.
