The cool thing about the Whole Foods debate last August was that it completely reversed stereotypes. Sure, some WF customers lean conservative (i.e. the suburban types), but in general WF is associated with an organic, eco-friendly, liberal mindset. You had the CEO of this totally new-age brand writing a clear, humane and common-sense piece. As seen here, he ends up getting supported by the young woman and bashed by the baby boomer bitter lawyer. Anything to break the mold is good by me.
wow the comments on this video are shameful... ridiculous republican beliefs, and greta stays hung up on him calling him a bad guy and keeps talking over him... to call him a facist and a socialist is judging him just like he judged the CEO, i'm sorry but people seem to be pretty similar to the people they dislike.
That dude is an idiot. He is a political activist with a big mouth and a law degree. Question: how many lawyers in this country give back like the CEO of Whole Foods??? I'm still waiting for the answer....
It's interesting how many comments on here are Liberals vs Conservative or bashing of Democrats based on the fact that this Russell guy "is" one.
I don't think this is really a political debate, it's a health care debate, and what's best for the people is what matters, no matter where the solution comes from. I think that is the exact problem we face when it comes to things like this, because nobody in government can see past party lines.
How the frick does this guy KNOW the government plan will save people? What a freakin liar. He's saying he is god?
He defames a successful businessman who provides great benefits to his employees and provides jobs for people.
This Russell guy is just a politician tool-spreading propaganda to make Americans pay more taxes for crappy governmental healthcare. WOW. You think government can make it work? Nope..Just another political money making agenda.
Oh no! Another American citizen is doing what he wants! We can't have freedom or the free market! Gasp! Whole Foods employees have great health care - the kind everyone should have, with freedom of choice and no rationing. MACKY HEALTHCARE NOW!!!
Guy is a real rabid nut case. Another leftist radical loon. Shades of stalin. Anybody else find the youtube video where Lefty Paul Krugman learns that Canadians consider their health plan "terrible".
Russell Mokhiber is a mouthpiece for the lawyers, Lawyers don't want Tort Reform because it would cripple their ability to reap huge awards for malpractice. His statements: Majority of Doctors are behind Obama, Majority of Whole Foods customers are outraged, Majority of employees are upset with John Mackey.
How about proving those statements. He sounds like Saul Alinsky. He says 60 uninsured people die in the US every day, well how many insured people die in Canada waiting for health care?
Great Van Sustern is an embarrassment, she can only ask "you think he is a bad guy" she does not GIVE A DAMN about what is wrong, she has NO substance. And isn't she supposed to be objective?
The Stalinist left organized a boycott to target Mackey for exercising his freedom of speech. Greta's question is entirely appropriate. She is being easy on Russell, who is completely wrong. Your question of Greta's question does not speak well of you. You lose credibility when you question such a mild and direct question.
interesting you mention liberals' panties getting in a knot. typically, democrats rely on energizing women voters to make up for their unpopularity with men. but since democrats have pushed socialized medicine, it has been women even more than men that have been vocally against Obamacare and fearful of government intrusion into their private lives. could this be the year that women come out in droves for the GOP?
"Boycott Watch said all along that the boycott against Whole Foods was about silencing free speech and that the boycott, being political in nature, was a failure and would bring new customers to the stores in the long run... As predicted, the boycott had the opposite of the intended effect - people who would otherwise not shop in that store did so in support of John Mackey and his right to free speech... At this point, the Whole Foods boycott is failing... rather embarrassing." BW 9-02-09
He is dead on correct! These ignorant fools that think that healthcare is a right. If I make 100K and you make 10K, I should and do have better everything, cars, doctors, food, EVERYTHING! Get your shit together and join me or quit bitching!
Russell is completely wrong. Government intrusion into healthcare is counterproductive. Private healthcare works; government intrusion harms. The necessary reforms are to limit government intrusion, not to increase government tyranny with compulsive single-payer slavery.
I think you misunderstood me. I totally agree with you. Government should stay out of healthcare! If you can't afford healthcare, tough shit, get a better job!!
I love how that arrogant prick on the right acts so shocked to hear that many Whole Foods employees agree with Mackey. The left is so arrogant to think that nobody could support freedom to make our own health decisions without further government intrusion.
This CEO is maybe smart. He already has the regressives (socialists) shopping at his place. What's one demographic base he probably doesn't have a lot of? Conservatives. I know I'll be shopping there once and awhile now (though I'm not conservative). The regressives will eventually go back to shopping there, they won't care, and he'll have a new demographic added, very smart. An example of why CEOs really do earn what they are paid.
First: you do not cross into Canada and find 0 people die everyday because we have a fasicst health care system. It has been acknowledged our system produces wait times which create not only deaths, but prolonged suffering. You American's better smarten up or you are in for a very very very rude wake up.
anything our government does is costly and not efficient! what government program isnt broke? i agree health care is broke, but its not just corporations. its the lobbying our crooked government. they pay to keep a monopoly! when government is out of health care it gets cheaper. example lasik! Anything that is a part of an economy or something that is purchased isnt a right because its someone elses labor, if that was so then that person wouldnlt be free. you would enslave that person.
His opinion is important...everyone else's doesn't matter? 60 Americans die every day? Maybe they should quit smoking, quit drinking, stop eating all the fat-laden, over-processed foods, get off the couch, etc.
I'm thinking about going to get a job a Whole Foods. Mackey is wonderful, in my opinion. Single payer will not work. Never has, never will.
are we not allowed to ask how much more poverty and illness will be caused by the higher taxes, hyperinflation, and restricted credit that come from such massive government deficit spending?
Single payer is a disaster. Monopsonies restrain demand, not supply. The savings on Medicare (which is still troubled) come from the government refusing to pay the market price. This keeps costs down, but the lower price decreases supply! Many doctors refuse medicare. The more people on the single payer system, the more the supply decreases with the lower average price. Single Payer means less healthcare for everyone, doesn't change how much is actually needed, and does NOT represent reform!
This is amazing that this clown is advocating the government is the ONLY solution. I simply can't understand why so many people have so much faith in a government that has a nearly bankrupt Social Security, Medicare, and Post Office with a deficit approaching 10 Trillion dollars over 10 years. This is failure on almost every level and yet this moron thinks government is the ONLY way to lower cost for health care! Seriously!!?!?
"progressives" fail to consider that they do not speak for a majority of Americans. The majority of Americans want freedom and responsibility, not favoritism and handouts.
Clearly Russell is a dipshit. His numbers are lies on deaths as a result of no health insurance. How about a normal comparison before health care cost rose? How many people in America died daily then? People do die every day retard. You'd think in all my days I would know at least one person that died because they didn't have health insurance. Yet I have never known one...not one. Maybe we can put big balloons on cars so no one ever dies. BTW, this guy could only get 20k people together?
I'm a Canadian and I can tell you that 61 people a day die in Canada BECAUSE of the socialistic universal health care we have here. Obama is trying to hoax you Americans (and the majority of you know it).
I love Whole Foods Market! Maybe the biggest problem the feds have is that the food in these stores don't contain all the toxins that the FDA wants in our food supply to keep us sick. If everyone was responsible for eating healthy, exercising, staying off pharmaceutical drugs, and taking care of their bodies, we might not need health care.
The more the government intrudes into healthcare, subsidizing treatment and insurance rather than prevention and lifestyle change, the less attention is given to responsibility and natural solutions.
cant stand that we have these lame arguments..looking for simple solutions to complex problems.. not to include the seachange in the economy and the demise of the middle class.. read elizabeth warren
Get a good look at Russel Mokhiber folks. This is what they want. If you disagree they will either shun you, boycott, and if they get there way probably stick you in jail.
Free Speech is only good for liberals if they are using it.
He said 60 people die every day because of no insurance...You do not die from lack of insurance!
You Obama freaks die from liberal fast food, faggot fries and cigarets.
The rest of us die from whatever reason...but lack of insurance isn't it.
400,000 die every year from tobacco...that's about 1,100 every day from SMOKING tobacco. Then there is all the other crap like GMO food and high fructose corn syryp and shit like Aspartame.
I find it hilarious that the supposedly healthier liberal customers of Whole Foods are pushing to have ALL of us fat, unhealthy rednecks take THEIR tax dollars for our health conditions - do they understand the logic here? That all their years of taking care of themselves will be cancelled out by FAT UNHEALTHY people who spend all the tax dollars anyway? It's actually funny that they don't get this concept.
"liberals" mistake government taxation and redistribution with charity. they actually believe that government is compassionate. which explains why conservatives are more generous; giving more time, more labor, more money, and yes even more blood than "liberals". "liberals" outsource their "charity" to the government. Conservatives and libertarians are charitable themselves. Which is why "liberals" can't understand how good works can be done without govt, because "liberals" don't help others.
J. Mackey is more than just the CEO of a health food, toiletries, and supplements chain. He's been active in fighting against genetically modified foods for yrs. His business keeps the most important distributors and mfrs. of natural products in the US alive. This means the very existence of his business keeps many, many, people employed outside of his retail outlets. He's very well liked in the industry. Hope protesters like eating Monsanto 4ever That's all that will be left if Mackey goes!
Russell Mokhiber is a vengeful, spiteful hateful little unhappy man. I wish I lived near a Whole Foods. I'd shop there daily even if it was only for a pack of chewing gum.
The first thing he said was that John Mackey wrote a "really nasty piece in the WSJ." WTF? It was anything BUT nasty, it was well-reasoned, well-written, rational. That is ridiculous.
I'm not sure if you meant this for me because I agree. The liberals called it "nasty" cause Mackey doesn't agree wtih the single payer or public option.
John Mackey is a great guy! I know that firsthand. I did business with his company for years. Good place to work, and good place to have as a customer for sure. They pay their vendors on time. They're reliable. Support them in any way you can.
Ironically, doctors Are The Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Killing 225,000 People Every Year:
ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR: * 12,000 -- unnecessary surgery * 7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals * 20,000 -- other errors in hospitals * 80,000 -- infections in hospitals * 106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs
These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!!
The more the government and their special interests push taxpayer money (and borrowed money) into treatment and screening, the less is available for actual prevention and positive lifestyle changes.
The biggest part of being healthy is eating right, that's why I'll keep buying organic food at Whole Foods...
Also, what's not to say that those supposed 60 people that die everyday could've actually been saved by their doctors or medicines... For all you know, those people eat fast food everyday, don't exercise, smoke, drink etc...
All liberals are crazy with all their made up numbers.speak up against the golden child (obama). Now they want to persecute him.His idea could be better than obamas. but this is the socialism that I talk that is marching into the U.S.

ok, this dude is crazy. I love the Obama health care plan, but this guy is going after whole foods? To me, it seems like Fox has just found the craziest liberal they could, and put him on display. Wouldn't be the first time.
I wish I could shop there! There is no Whole Foods w/in 200 miles of me. God love John Mackey - what a courageous and intelligent guy. The Obamatons have no position here except to try to bully everyone. There is no room for discussion with these people. I hope everyone wakes up to the agenda now and understands what is at stake.
Republican and other outspoken opponents of medical reform want to wipe out Medicare, Medicaid and even increase what people pay for limited medical insurance.
They want to destroy any reasonable form of affordable medical insurance and provide even greater long-term profits for insurance companies.
Theyre not worried about end-of-life care; theyre worried about profits. And they know that with no real reform, Medicare, Medicaid and low-cost medical insurance will be financially wiped.
60 americans who die every day b/c of the status quo .... or..... obamacare with the establishment controlling who lives in this country which will result in signifcantly more deaths than 60 a day.
What government programs actually work? Amtrak, Post Office, Foreign occupations, cash for clunkers, Social Security, Medicare? please show me one that does not LOSE MONEY before destroying whats left of health care.
The problem I see with anything that is given virtually "free" is that those that need it the most tend to abuse what is being given "free". When people have to pay for things they will think twice about whether they really need it or not. Free means going in for every little sniffle/ache etc instead of just sucking it up for a few days. Once this spigot is opened people are going to find out just what a shortage of Docs/PA's/NP's/ nurses and other medical staff we really have. Get in line.
People would probably trip if they saw how little I used my insurance that I pay for since 1998). There were years in between seeing a doctor even though I was insured. But thats my point . I just didn't think it was necessary to go for minor crap that I see people going in for. Maybe it's just me. I have got my physicals over the last 2 years and take 2 meds that I shopped around for: One I get 3months worth for $12 at Sweetbay (their program) the other is a $15 generic/month on insurance.
My thing is stay as healthy as you can.(exercise, eat better when you can) The doctor can't do everything for you nor can meds. Don't abuse the system because more than likely there is someone out there much sicker than you. So please don't tie up the system uneccesarily.

Good intentions all but where three of four fail is the fact providing healthcare should not be a commodity! It's a right, not a privilege; and therefore not for profit making! Don't throw money at it, regulate it with fixed prices based upon the proven earned income of the ill. Tell the providers if you can't accept it, find another profession! Let no person's soul cry out had I the proper healthcare! Then and only then you can celebrate the American ideal; the humanitarians you claim to be!

It seems to me that "Life", in America's Inalienable Rights could be argued to include "Life" sustaining health care for all Americans. I'd guess the opponents of my idea likely include people who for example handout Christmas donations to the poor while maximizing publicity and then feel good about themselves for the entire New Year. I have excellent healthcare thanks to my military service and the taxpayer. Provide All Americans life sustaining healthcare just like I have.
As a veteran, I salute you. BUT you should be complaining to congress and veterans affairs for the very poor health care that you are receiving. Veterans health care and American Indian health care are an embarrassment.
Thanks for your appreciation of my service but my healthcare is of the highest quality and most appreciated! I agree there "should be no free lunch" concerning civilian healthcare but please know there are many hard working Americans forced into bankruptcy due to healthcare cost. And that's wrong when living in a country that prides its self on taking care of citizens.
Having had an uncle who was "cared for" by the Veterans health care (he served twice in WWII), he received inferior care. Are you forgetting the problems with Walter Reed? They were not unique. You and other veterams "paid" for your health care by your service to our country.
Thanks for your uncle's service, I more than appreciate it!. The VA has reformed over the years but that's no excuse for previous treatment of veterans! It's not perfect today from what I understand but it has came a long way. I'm retired military so under a different system. Walter Reed, I could talk for days about it. Some complaints in my opinion were not justified, but that's another story for a different debate.
Without profits there would be little incentive for research and developement because it would not be affordable. The medical breakthroughs(procedures, diagnostic equipment, medications, etc) just over the last 40 years wouldn't have been possible without profits. Innovation has to be paid for. It doesn't happen for free. Just to bring a new mediciine to the market can cost over $500 million. There has to be profits. I would love for everyone to get free health care but it's not realistic to me
I counted nine pharmaceutical companies on the Fortune 500 list. Independent studies estimate the pharmaceutical industry spends almost twice as much on promotion as it does on research and development and those brand name drugs have a 1,000% mark-up price. And occasionally a new drug really isn't new at all. There's obvious price gouging and for the life of me I can't understand why middleclass America as a whole can't see it and hold our elected representatives accountable to change it.
The thing is there obvious price gouging everywhere in our lives. Do you really think that gas was worth $4 a gallon last year and that it all of a sudden it magically dropped to $1.75 because ppl weren't driving as much. lol How much profit do you think your cell phone/internet service company is making by having the dozen add ons you have to pay for individually? I saw that about40% of our income is given to local, state &federal Govt as taxes/fees. Who's gouging who? Ur comnts were good
I just don't see the Govt as the cure all for all the things that companies do. If they were then I think they would have really come down on the oil companies when they were making those world record profits but they didn't (neither side). I am worried don't get me wrong. I just dont know if a larger govt is the right answer.
I agree price gouging is everywhere. Public services, commodities etc. necessary for our American way of life seem to get away with it. Free enterprise with limited oversight in our capitalist society is the culprit. However, the pharmaceutical debate is in a different league because you can't put a price on human life. Congress needs to provide ALL Americans necessary live-sustaining medications delivered with the speed of a major league fastball. We voting Americans will be the umpire. Thanks.
Can you honestly tell me that a meth cooker who is poisoned by the fumes of his own death concoction, or the 25y/o cocaine heart attack victim who has drugs smuggled into his recovery room or the countless people who cont. to smoke, drink, do drugs and live unhealthy lifestyles even after their Dr's have told them it will kill them if they don't change deserve free healthcare and meds at our expense? Yes to those that want to turn their lives around. No to the habituals who will never change.
There must be a line in the sand to prevent system abuse. Attempt rehab once, perhaps twice, but those habitual leeches without further hope should be ostracized. I'd believe that the percentage of people outside that category far outnumber those inside. I'm for fixed price heath care based upon proven earned income. Abuse would be a felony. I'd also like to see the number of visits to medical facilities and for what reason linked to the IRS so people could get tax credits for prevention.
I was going by your statement where you wrote Congress needs to provide ALL Americans necessary life-sustaining meds. I'm glad you can see that even that must have it's limitations. I agree there should be incentives for those that do the right thing and get preventative care and take care of themselves. I do think we have to be careful of patient confidetiality though and who has access to it. It is such a fine line. There is no simple solution. Wish there was. It's a catch 22 situation.
I was reading about the cost for a private Doc to maintain a practice these days. The cost are amazing. The amt that a Doc "bills" and the amt he actually gets are two different creatures. All the staff/equipment/supplies/office space aren't cheap. A 2003 article put the cost of a gamma camera(for nuclear stress test) at $725,000.ONE piece of equip. Plus liability, health, dental(for staff) ins. CME (Continuing Medical Education), licensing cost for Dr's/PA's/NP/RN's etc. It adds up quickly.
I just really feel that there are those out there that no matter what they are told or what is given to them that will save their lives they could just care less. All they care about is "Give me a pill and patch me up until next time I screw up and end up in the ER and damn who it affects." I really have very little sympathy for people like that. So No to everyone deserving free medical and meds. People themselves have got to start taking responsibility for their own actions. They're not kids.
Pharmaceutical companies are enriched by government mandates and government subsidies. The best defense against the power of the pharmaceutical cartel is less government favoritism, not more. More free market competition, not more government favoritism.
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it."
Normally I would refrain from using French quotes but this was a period in time before the French turned into limp wristed wimps.
In the last seven months, we have seen all that the founding fathers warned us about, and fashioned a Constitution to protect the American people against.

I read the article in the Wall Street Journal and damn I think I would picket his stores too. He is a "bad guy". He does not care at all about those that can't afford health care. He is only interested in supporting the Insuance industry. I say picket, picket, picket.
A "bad guy" because he doesn't agree with the TOTUS solution? C'mon...he agreed a problem exists that does require fixing, just disagreed on how the problem should be fixed. And, solely on that, he's "bad"?
I'm with Gretta - disappointed in that boycotting fool and seriously disgusted that even the tamest of opposition is met with sheer, unbridled hatred & contempt - followed by the villianizing & slandering the thoughtful opposition. Unfreakinbelievable!!!!
Figures. A CEO who is a philanthropist, takes care of his employess, buys locally from his community when he can, and gives and gives is declared a bad person and boycotted (by a lawyer, yeah they have a good reputation) just because he doesn't agree with a President. He sounds like the kind of CEO that should be running MOST companies. This was a good story and I'm glad it came to light. Hope the other news stations cover it also. That lawyer fellow to me chose the wrong CEO to demonize.
Here we have Saul Alinsky tactics in action. They basically do everything but calling John Mackey a murderer for speaking out. These are the slimey tactics of the far left abnd what they have degenerated into. These tactics are evil and people need to stand up to them.
Incoming President of CMA, Anne Doig: "We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize...
"We know that there must be change... We're all running flat out, we're all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands."
So opposing the failing Canadian model makes you a bad guy?
pointing out socialist failures makes you "a bad guy". You're not supposed to actually check to see if government ever keeps its promises. You're just supposed to believe their empty promises and fork over your hard-earned liberty and property.
If he's like most liberals, NOTHING! They keep their money to themselves, they don't go to churches for the most part, don't tithe, don't contribute much to charity.
"liberals" seem to think that only the government can exercise compassion, while any voluntary action must necessarily be inferior to what a wise government would do.
Russell; you want a little cheese with your whine? You are just about the most repulsive pompous ass boot licker I've ever seen or heard in my life.

wow this guy is an idiot! If anyone dares to disagree with any of Obama's views *warning* you will be called a racist, a nazi, or a "bad guy." What is happening to our first amendment!

John Mackey spoke the truth. It's the regressives that turned it into a question of who would shop in his stores.

I love Whole Foods Market! Maybe the biggest problem the feds have is that the food in these stores don't contain all the toxins that the FDA wants in our food supply to keep us sick. If everyone was responsible for eating healthy, exercising, staying off pharmaceutical drugs, and taking care of their bodies, we might not need health care.

It's actually funny that they don't get this concept.
dovie2blue 2 years ago

Traveler2112 2 years ago 7
People would probably trip if they saw how little I used my insurance that I pay for since 1998). There were years in between seeing a doctor even though I was insured. But thats my point . I just didn't think it was necessary to go for minor crap that I see people going in for. Maybe it's just me. I have got my physicals over the last 2 years and take 2 meds that I shopped around for: One I get 3months worth for $12 at Sweetbay (their program) the other is a $15 generic/month on insurance.
Traveler2112 2 years ago 3

MaryJ0K0PECHNE 2 years ago
Thanks for your appreciation of my service but my healthcare is of the highest quality and most appreciated! I agree there "should be no free lunch" concerning civilian healthcare but please know there are many hard working Americans forced into bankruptcy due to healthcare cost. And that's wrong when living in a country that prides its self on taking care of citizens.
basesloaded09 2 years ago
Having had an uncle who was "cared for" by the Veterans health care (he served twice in WWII), he received inferior care. Are you forgetting the problems with Walter Reed? They were not unique. You and other veterams "paid" for your health care by your service to our country.
MaryJ0K0PECHNE 2 years ago

I would love for everyone to get free health care but it's not realistic to me
Traveler2112 2 years ago 2
I counted nine pharmaceutical companies on the Fortune 500 list. Independent studies estimate the pharmaceutical industry spends almost twice as much on promotion as it does on research and development and those brand name drugs have a 1,000% mark-up price. And occasionally a new drug really isn't new at all. There's obvious price gouging and for the life of me I can't understand why middleclass America as a whole can't see it and hold our elected representatives accountable to change it.
basesloaded09 2 years ago
The thing is there obvious price gouging everywhere in our lives. Do you really think that gas was worth $4 a gallon last year and that it all of a sudden it magically dropped to $1.75 because ppl weren't driving as much. lol How much profit do you think your cell phone/internet service company is making by having the dozen add ons you have to pay for individually? I saw that about40% of our income is given to local, state &federal Govt as taxes/fees. Who's gouging who? Ur comnts were good
Traveler2112 2 years ago
I just don't see the Govt as the cure all for all the things that companies do. If they were then I think they would have really come down on the oil companies when they were making those world record profits but they didn't (neither side). I am worried don't get me wrong. I just dont know if a larger govt is the right answer.
Traveler2112 2 years ago

Traveler2112 2 years ago
There must be a line in the sand to prevent system abuse. Attempt rehab once, perhaps twice, but those habitual leeches without further hope should be ostracized. I'd believe that the percentage of people outside that category far outnumber those inside. I'm for fixed price heath care based upon proven earned income. Abuse would be a felony. I'd also like to see the number of visits to medical facilities and for what reason linked to the IRS so people could get tax credits for prevention.
basesloaded09 2 years ago
I was going by your statement where you wrote Congress needs to provide ALL Americans necessary life-sustaining meds. I'm glad you can see that even that must have it's limitations. I agree there should be incentives for those that do the right thing and get preventative care and take care of themselves. I do think we have to be careful of patient confidetiality though and who has access to it. It is such a fine line. There is no simple solution. Wish there was. It's a catch 22 situation.
Traveler2112 2 years ago
I was reading about the cost for a private Doc to maintain a practice these days. The cost are amazing. The amt that a Doc "bills" and the amt he actually gets are two different creatures. All the staff/equipment/supplies/office space aren't cheap. A 2003 article put the cost of a gamma camera(for nuclear stress test) at $725,000.ONE piece of equip. Plus liability, health, dental(for staff) ins. CME (Continuing Medical Education), licensing cost for Dr's/PA's/NP/RN's etc. It adds up quickly.
Traveler2112 2 years ago
I just really feel that there are those out there that no matter what they are told or what is given to them that will save their lives they could just care less. All they care about is "Give me a pill and patch me up until next time I screw up and end up in the ER and damn who it affects." I really have very little sympathy for people like that. So No to everyone deserving free medical and meds. People themselves have got to start taking responsibility for their own actions. They're not kids.
