The guy you killed didn't die until after you picked up the flag. So technically the Flag Kill medal is broken in that you don't need to use the flag to get the kill. Just kill an enemy in any way possible while HOLDING the flag.

This was actually on halo 3 mythbusters, if you throw a grenade, then pick up the flag, and kill someone with the grenade, it counts as a flag kill.

it just means you got a kill while holding the flag. like when you get kills from the grave, it takes a min for you to get it.

its easy, throw a plasma, and pick up the flag before it detonates and there you go, it counts as a flag kill

Well yeah, but if you watched the video you would know that a flag kill is a Flag melee kill and this wasn't one.

Officially it is. Technically it's not. You can throw nades, shoot rockets, or lay trip mines and pick the flag back up. Tah-dah.

dude. you picked up the flag thats why you got the kill. i got a spartan lazer kill with no lazer symbol because i killed the warthog that guy was about to get into with no shields on. its still a lazer kill...

I Think your missing the point, a flag kill is a melee kill with the flag.

Flag kill is any kill while holding the flag, for example someone BRs someone next to the flag, he jumps off the BR guy grabs the flag again, once he dies it will show up as a Flag kill.

no it can happen when you stick someone or kill them with a chain reaction or ther grenades and you pickup the flag before you kill them. and then when it does explode, it comes up as a flag carrier kill.
