If you mean Death Metal as simple you are wrong, it uses a lot of fast technical palm muting and to thouroughly do double bass kick pedals requires a lot of stamina, and the tempo changes erraticaly. Also Jazz is quite technical and indeed includes a lot of musical theory, but then again they invented Progressive Death Metal which pretty much is exactly a hybrid between said genre and Jazz and is actually MORE technical than jazz.
