Most people don't understand all the liability issues and laws involving toys nowadays. You can't just "give away" toys. Most charities/hospitals won't take them unless they are new and in package. Goodwill has to throw out 90% of the toys donated to them. It all comes down to lawsuits. Let's say the toy was a part of a recall, Goodwill sold it to someone, and their kid got hurt. That person is going to sue Goodwill and Goodwill will get fined by the state/government for selling a recalled toy.

Went to tip with some waste kids went with me .They saw kids toys,teddies,dolls and rideons in a skip . The operatives used a digger bucket to crush the rubbish in the skip and then pull it to the front of the skip and crush it again . my kids were sad when they saw the toys destroyed like this
