just wait in another 20 years it will all be vandalised again and in 30 or 40 it will be nocked down and replaced with even more modernised but even smaller flats
it just doesn't look right anymore. they should of kept the crescents, bonsall st etc. made them safe and just fillem em in with more concrete so no 1 could squat and shit...ha!! then re-developed around them. eyesoreor no eyesore it is Hulme
Some of it looks improved but tbh I bet the place is still riddled with cockroaches as then they pulled the crescents down they threw up the rabbit hutch type flats that took their place,it looks more packed and crowded.
was born here, my house and all the surrounding streets were wiped out-it's nice to see the place rising from the ashes-I hope it will flourish and prosper but I can't help feeling my whole history was wiped out just for the hell of it-plus the 60s/70s development was a disaster-they've basically rebuilt what they pulled down.
Lived there 1987-1995 during my 20's. A place that built your character. Lots of changes, though. Bet that ABDUL's supermarket is the one at Woodstock Sq. before, isn't it?
Yeah its the same guy from back then, near St Phillip's my Primary, i also went Trinity, in hulme also. The only way i can tell where i used to live in Hulme is by looking at the Library, Zion, and church, cos everything around them buildings has been knocked down and rebuilt. Its had a serious facelift
The library, Zion centre, Grants, Junction and the Church of the Ascension are about the only things left now. Have a look on Myspace for Hulme, there are a couple of pages with loads of great old pics and videos of how it used to be

Hi, please tell me how did the City build your character. Was it authoritarian or inspiring?

Amazing change from when it was Hulme 5.
I knew the area well when I went to school there, all changed now though.
Ironic how ghost town was chosen, cool..

How odd. I lived in Hulme in the eighties and i recognise nothing from your two films. I feel part of my life has been wiped out forever
