Awesome! I ran NY marathon twice...have done 15 marathons in all. NY was my first. You can qualify with a half-marathon time. Since then, I got hit by a car while running. It put me in a wheelchair. For 2 years I had to learn to walk again. It is the runner in me, and the experience of bearing pain in a marathon that helped me to recover. Now I am running again and hope to do another marathon in 2011!

Runner Gets Hit By Car - Told She'd Never Run Again!
You have got to hear " Richard Green - Running through New York ". For his sister Ros who has terminal Breast and bone cancer. It is Amazing. The guy actually died trying to help save others.
You have got to hear " Richard Green - Running through New York ". For his sister Ros who has terminal Breast and bone cancer. It is Amazing. The guy actually died trying to help save others.
On my bucket list for sure! But I heard you have to have prior experience to at least a half marathon somewhere else. Not just for NYC, but also Boston. Anyone help me out here please? Is this true?
You don't need any experience. But, you do have to enter a lottery. Look for the New York Roadrunners website. If you don't get in for three years in a row, you are guaranteed the next year. I've run 10 marathons and nothing comes even close to the experience of this race.
@whereamihh the london marathon was yesterday and was the biggest cash raising marathon of all time, and was still short a few thousand runners due to the ash clouds! its the race all the biggest name runners want to do! not to mention brings people from all over the world ,religons together and united! not only that but it has the most history on route of all not to n mention more spectators than any other, i've ran new york, and london
@whereamihh runners world 2010 website, has the London marathon as top race with berlin and new york 2nd n 3rd, that was taken from not only race organisers but intel also from runners and spectators, i've ran the 3 top marathons and new york doesnt come close to london for atmosphere and prestige, london is world renowed for bing the best, hence why people travel from ever continet to attempt it. I take it you have never ran the london or berlin.
London raised more and its the race everyone aspire to do!! london would have has 10.000 plus more if it was'nt for the volcanic ash! , i've raced all 3 and london is by far better notto mention the course and histroy en-route, if you had ran the london marathon you wold also see, but thats not my opinion but the opinion of the world top runners, spectators and fun runners!
@bcoy1para says he ran "all 3" with a malevolent grin. ho-hum.
if this is the case are you running 2 minute laps or perhaps 8 minute miles then? you can keep that up for 2 hours at least up and down grueling hills? any kind of weather? i trained for the boston marathon but had to quit wont say why....i wanted to make top ten and was gearing for it.....london....para runnin miles....mountain climbing...oh dear my tea is calling me time to fetch the pale and ponder again...
You'll recognize it as "Ode to Joy," from Beethoven's Ninth symphony (1824). He used text from the poem "An die Freude" (1785) by the German Friedrich Schiller.
Ran it in 2006. My first! Awesome! Will never forget walking 3 steps up a rise that felt like a mountain in 5th avenue only to have a female runner pat me on the back as if to say c'mon! Cheers!
what could there possibly be to criticize about this video? one thing I love about running is we call them races, but really its every individual racing with themselves, showing themselves they can do it. Everyone involved brings this approach and they are super-supportive, and that's what makes events like this quite special.
these people that give us all poor comments are just stright up haters.....probably can't run it anyway!!! Good luck to all that can run the greatest race in the world!!! :)

The New York City Marathon is a race unique in the world. It joins races, religions and people from any part of the globe. It won't be my first but I will be running the NYC Marathon for the First time........I wish you and everyone else nothing but luck and good fortune as we all conquer this race!!!
Look for me at the finish line. I'll have dvd's of the MARATHON the epic short film about the FIRST MARATHON in 490 BC. See the trailer at my page or search: Marathon Bogard
And every non-serious runner=] ...I was there last year because I was visiting Museum of Nat Hist and I saw the ending. Even though I've lived in NYC for my life, I think that was the first(or second) time I've seen them...I do want to run in it one day though...I shall.
You are such a jerk Predesti!! Come to Minneapolis, I'll show you how sucessful and athletic I am or are you to afraid to leave that trailer park in Kentucky?lol
You're still funny no matter what other people say about you. First, I don't live in Kentucky. I live in Ca a few miles from 50cal. And what is it with you liberal racists that every white person that believes in America lives in a trailer park?
