hi, i am a perfume junkie, lol, but i have been having problems in bying a new perfume, i like floral scents, for example miss boucheron, fifth avenue, would you please tell me your picks form my kind of taste,.
This is my holy grail, I'm worried because I only have a tiny bit left. I've dropped hints, saying that it's at the top of my Christmas list but my husband can be a little absent minded at times, bless him. I keep leaving it hanging around in the silliest places like in the middle of the bathroom or bedroom fool, each time my husband says do you know this perfumes on the fool. crossing my finger I think I might need lots of luck lolll
@TheNunafeedtheducks Maybe "accidentally" drop it on his head when he's sleeping, and then say, "Oh! Good thing I've almost finished the bottle, otherwise it would've REALLY hurt!" Then he'll get the hint ;-)
@Leslieeeedxo Yes he did, he want above and beyond and also got me the Coco Mademoiselle Perfume Fresh Body Cream, don't ya just love a guy who knows whats good for him loll, needless to say I was au septieme ciel (in seventh heaven) :)))
@KatiePuckrikSmells I am hoping to get Coco Mademoiselle for Christmas and I was wondering whether it would be appropriate to wear this scent everyday or if its just for special occasions.
This is how I felt about Curious (Britney Spears). I fell in LOVE with it when I was 12, but then I stopped wearing it because EVERYONE I walked past was either wearing it or would instantly know I was wearing it.
@LexiOverdose There's so much psychology involved with perfume. You can love the actual scent, but the magic can be erased with over-familiarity, or bad associations with the people who wear it.
this is/was my all time favorite fragrance. i love the vanilla/patchouli dry down. but sooooo many people wear this. a lady in my office puts on so much it makes my eyes water. :( i have stopped wearing this but i will always have it in my collection, it's my first love. :) thanks for the other recs. will look for the laura mercier.
Mmmm I love this perfume =) Although I agree its becoming very common nowadays which kind of sucks :( do you know any other perfumes simular to Coco mademoiselle like with a nice ambery vanilla base and floral notes? I'd def be interested into looking into some new perfumes. I would like to try smelling Coco by chanel too but it's probably a little bit too old for me, I'm only 17 lol but I really don't like the overpowering sweet perfumes geared towards girls my age like pink sugar lol
I sat at the Saks Fifth Avenue counter for a couple hours last night going through Les Exclusifs and just discussing the house. Mademoiselle was one of many discarded formulas in their vault pulled out for a limited run as a placeholder until they released Chance. There was no promotion at all, yet it flew off the shelves. The rest is history. My favorites are Coromandel, 31 Rue Cambon and La Pausa from Les Exclusifs. But I can see why Mademoiselle is so popular and certainly don't begrudge it.
well... i tried Mary Kate & Ashley 's "L.A. STYLE" (shame on me!!! haha but it was suuuuch a bargain!!!) and i thought that, from a little far, it smells like a lighter (and cheaper... in all ways) version of Coco Mademoiselle!!! have you tried this?!?
@KatiePuckrikSmells actually, i'm gonna do that too!!! and i'll try both at the same time!!! 'cause now i started thinking if my nose is making me a fool that much!!! haha
I love this stuff but don't wear it because it's everywhere...in the supermarket, out for a nice meal, in the queue for the bus. Victim of its own success. Was also going to say (probably not the only one to say, so apologies if you know already!), midnight in French is pronounced 'mee-nwee'. Unless it's actually 'm'ennuie' which would mean you being bored enchanted... Probably too late for the oil anyway. Shame.
really like your channel. need some advice. how can you determine what type of fragrance works well for your body chemistry. i have found the only two perfumes i can wear without them changing is mademoiselle and opium. would love to branch out. do you have any suggestions. thanks
@flordeamapolita It's trial and error. Also, many perfumes are built to open up and develop on the skin, so it's a question of finding one whose "moods" you enjoy all the way along. Sounds like you enjoy spicier perfumes. Have you tried Gucci for Women? How about Chanel Coco? And you might enjoy Chanel Coromandel.
hey Katie, I LOVE this fragrance. I'm wondering if you could suggest any men's fragrances that is along the line of Coco mademoiselle? A dude's version if you will, thank you so much!!
Amazing scent! my favorite. It's young, feminine, elegant and expensive-smelling! I love how you mentioned that it's a *bit* just a bit masculine I get what you mean but don't scare people off because it's something that only you might notice.
Anyway, I have never smelled it on someone. I get so many compliments wearing it.
When I tested and bought Coco Mademoiselle, I loved it. But after a few weeks, I got physically ill, and sadly coundn't wear it anymore. Now whenever I smell it on someone, it brings back the nausea.
Even though I like this fragrance, it just doesn't like me.
What are your thoughts on Chance by Chanel? Love your reviews!! From your reviews I realize that I am a fragrance schizo: angel, rush, alien & hypnotic poison ;). What would you suggest as a summer fragrance based on those? Thanks!!
@WolfEyesatNight I don't know for sure what that sediment is, but I would take your bottle back to the store for an exchange. It could be that the perfume has been affected from exposure to heat/light. Often, vintage bottles of perfume have this kind of white sediment. But it's odd that your new perfume has it!
@WolfEyesatNight Oh, well the sun factor will explain the sediment in your perfume.
Re your vintage perfume question: all perfumes will lose their power over time, some quicker than others. And really old perfumes will lose their top notes, but may still stay true to their original drydown, even if they're discolored. Others will go flat or rancid. It all depends on how carefully the owners have stored them.
@WolfEyesatNight I just researched this a bit more, and perfumer Liz Zorn says that as long as the perfume smells fine, you can wear it. It's more common for perfumes with high amounts of natural ingredients to produce sediment, so it's odd that your Ralph Lauren has it.
@Sirilloh I've heard from several men who love the scent of Coco Mlle and wish they could wear it themselves, but find it slightly too feminine. But I think it's squarely in the spicy patchouli-with-a-dab-of-freshness arena that seems like a guy could pull off. I think you should try it and see for yourself.
@robinrs92 Lotion/cream versions of perfumes are often a great way to go: they smell wonderful and moisturize at the same time, and make your skin look nice. And it's a softer way to wear bolder fragrances.
I agree with your review I remeber being on a Cruise and a woman near me was wearing Coco Mademoiselle it was such a turn off because it was so common.Sometimes we like something not so common.Another one that smells
just like it but sweeter and easier to wear is Prai Scent of a Woman.
Coco Mademoiselle was on my never ending (it seems) list of "to try" perfumes, if I do like it I will also try the others you mentioned in this review. :0)
I was recently given some sample sizes of Hippie Chick by True Religion and tried it out--when it dried down it smelled a LOT like Sexy Little Things by Victoria's Secret (NOT the noir version). There was one note that smelled so similar in both perfumes, but I can't recognize what it is and it's driving me nuts. Have you smelled either perfume and do you know?
I'm still lovin' that red chair! Nice video. I totally get what your saying about smelling the same smell over & over and you can guess what someone is wearing....whereas when I smell something (new to me) I like asking the person in a grocery store, in the shoe dept., or on the 3rd floor at work "can I ask what your wearing, it smells so pretty." I love to hear about what they have on, where they got it, how much it cost. Still lovin' that chair. I just love fun chairs & you have the best 1
I wear Number 19, which has all but been phased out. I can only find the EDT in the States. Do you have any idea where I might be able to find other products in this brand? I am especially interested in the Eau de Parfum, dusting powder and bath oils. Thanks!
I do like Coco Mademoiselle (as I like most Chanels), I do, however, it does have a bit of a coppery drydown that I find to be a little agitating. In lieu of Coco Mademoiselle, I opt for the original Coco (1984). I find Coco to be a deep, soapy, spicy and dare I say mysterious oriental. I am surprised that you didn't mention it within this review though as a point of reference. I'm curious, whats your take on Coco? Love it, hate it?
@60scinema It's been several months since I last smelled Coco, but I love it whenever I try it. Some fumies are telling me they like to layer Coco and Coco Mlle!
@KatiePuckrikSmells: Hmm...I'm usually not a big proponent of layering (how can you see the first painting if you put another in front of it). That being said, I might have to give it a try. Btw: many more viral perfume critics have come out recently, but I still think you're the absolute best!!! Love your channel!!
You're so right about this perfume being a victim of it's own popularity. I can't count the number of weddings I've attended where I've sniffed the air and detected clouds of this fragrance emanating off different women. I'm sick of smelling it on people sadly and it's lost it's appeal to me because it's so common now.
omg, you expressed my exact thoughts on this perfume! =) Coco Mademoiselle is indeed a victim of it's own popularity... But how come No 5 is not perceived in the same way?
This is a WONDERFUL question! So wonderful that I had to sit down and give it some good thought. I think No. 5 is "classic", not "common", firstly because it has stood the test of time. Also, it was a groundbreaking work of art when it came out in 1921, and influenced perfume trends for generations. And for many years, perfume was an exclusive luxury item worn mostly by wealthy people, so No. 5 has retained that cachet.
It's funny, though - No. 5 continues to dominate the fume landscape, even though for many years of its reign, it was one of only hundreds of other perfumes, not the thousands that are available today. It has transcended ubiquity to make it to the hallowed halls of true classics.
@KatiePuckrikSmells you're right, No 5 still carries its status of perfume for "people of wealth". I wonder if Coco Mademoiselle, just like No5, will too graduate into "classic" one day (or did it already??.. I personally doubt that)
I am laughing because I was going to purchase this perfume today and decided not to, now I'm certain I'm not going to. I actually bought Chanel Chance instead :)
@KatiePuckrikSmells -I've only recently found your utube videos and I absolutely love them. I've subscribed to your page and now I watch them all the time. I'm a perfume addict! Thank you for your reviews. They are awesome!
Katie!! I watch your videos religiously - you're amazing; and in this vid you inspired me!! I love Coco Mademoiselle, but I too smell it on everyone- appeal lost; so I went in search of the other fragrances you spoke of in this video. I live in Brisbane (Aus) and we are not overly perfume savvy, so finding them to sample was arduous. Then I found a website that specialises in perfume samples - my order is placed and on its way. Thank you for always being entertaining and addiction fuelling :) xx
My best friend asked for perfume for her b-day...and I know she loves Flowerbomb its been her signature scent for quite a while, but she wants something a little more fun this time around except not too floral, any suggestions? I've racked my brain and sephora stores and I can't find anything unique enough for her liking.
Coco was the first perfume I ever got, as a Christmas gift from my mom when I was a teenager... I had my parents return it because I didn't like it, it was to "grown up" for me. I still don't want a bottle now that I'm 25.
Hi Katie, I recently discovered that one of my favorite scents DSquared SheWood had been discontinued much to my dismay. Would you been able to reccomend a good replacement? Thanks!
@Sukantara Thank you very much! I wear sunscreen every day, and I wear a wide-brimmed hat if I'm going to be out in the sun for any length of time. And I lived in London for many years, were it was sunny about 5 days a year, so that helped.
I smelled Coco Mademoiselle and later smelled the original Coco and I can't understand why anyone would wear it (the Coco Mademoiselle that is). Coco is the sexy b%@*& that those girls having their night out are giving the side eye to in jealousy.
P.S. Can you PLEASE do a review of Clinique's Aromatics Elixir and/or an overview of the best Patch scents (not the clean modern patch, but patch with some skank to it ;)
Your right this fragrance is a bit played out. But I do love it , just isnt a "you" fragrance. Chanel is my favorite house so im always drawn back. My favorite seems to be no 19. I dont smell it on others alot..actually ever which is good. Could you do a review on no19 ? Id love to hear your take on it.
I like Mademoiselle's 'elegant femininity + bug spray' character and I like Lady Vengeance for the same reason, even though they don't smell the same. My skin really sucks up the patch notes and spits out everything else though. Chance smells practically identical after 15 minutes on my wrist.
I agree. It's a nice scent that's a victim of it's own success. I treated myself to a bottle when I moved to Paris only to smell it on everyone in the spring. Who'da thunk it?! ;-) I also find it to be a fragrance that wears you and not the other way around. Now I wear a tiny amount and layer it in an attempt to smell a bit different.
Is there any chance thatyou could PLEASE review Bois de Violette by Serge Lutens? I want to buy it but I cant get my hands on a sample no matter how hard I try. I assure you I am a deserving cause!!
@TheSukiebapswent I thought for sure Les Senteurs in London would carry it, but the closest they have is Lutens Feminite de Bois. Bois de Violette is a violet-y version of FdB (putting it simplistically). You could always get a samp of FdB from Les Senteurs and see if it's going in the right direction for you.
Anyway, Bois de Violette is a gorgeous, full-bodied spicy oriental featuring Violette in a dramatic way, rather than a simpering pastel way.
Great review Miss Katie !!! I can't thank you enough for choosing Chanel this time. If I had to start wearing a womens perfume, I would start with Chanel. I agree with that Coco Mademoiselle is popular, but not as much as the No. 5. I would love to listen anything from the Chanel House. Kisses !!!
Coco Mademoiselle is a scent that I'd love to own (if I had the money), but, as you said, it's worn by a lot of people! I agree with you that it's a girls' night out scent (nicely described!)... Egoiste is really nice - I've only ever tried it on my skin once a while back. I might have to revisit it next time I'm near a Chanel counter! :) I wouldn't mind trying that Laura Mercier scent...not sure if it's available out here in Oz though. Must check that out.
I must have 50 bottles of fragrance, Coco Mademoiselle being one, and I am constantly looking for the right scent. What is wrong with me? (!) I can wear a fragrance for one day and be tired of it the next. I envy those who have a signature scent, but sadly, I am not one of them. I want to be, but it has never happened. Sigh. Thanks so much for this review. It has given me a sense of normality, for I think now that others may tire of fragrance like I do--even of perfectly lovely scents.

I agree with your review I remeber being on a Cruise and a woman near me was wearing Coco Mademoiselle it was such a turn off because it was so common.Sometimes we like something not so common.Another one that smells
just like it but sweeter and easier to wear is Prai Scent of a Woman.
SayItLoud19 11 months ago
Coco Mademoiselle was on my never ending (it seems) list of "to try" perfumes, if I do like it I will also try the others you mentioned in this review. :0)
charlottesmom 11 months ago
I don't care for it... I love the OG CoCo!
MONTYOSORIO 11 months ago
I love Coco Mademoiselle but it has become too common, it's also one of the few fragrance that almost every single guy out there cannot resist.
One perfume that I find really similar to Coco Mme is Shiseido Zen though Zen is deeper and more woody
hinlintin 11 months ago
@hinlintin Thanks for the tip - I will sniff out Zen.

I just love fun chairs & you have the best 1

it does not bother me that it is very popular. It smells a bit different on different people anyway. I get sooo many compliments when I wear it!

@SweetCherryPie26 If a perfume delivers the compliments, it's hard to fault it.

I wear Number 19, which has all but been phased out. I can only find the EDT in the States. Do you have any idea where I might be able to find other products in this brand? I am especially interested in the Eau de Parfum, dusting powder and bath oils. Thanks!
ShallAnnDara 11 months ago
@ShallAnnDara I've seen the full No. 19 range (not the dusting powder, though) online at Chanel, as well as the Chanel boutiques.

60scinema 11 months ago
@60scinema It's been several months since I last smelled Coco, but I love it whenever I try it. Some fumies are telling me they like to layer Coco and Coco Mlle!
KatiePuckrikSmells 11 months ago
@KatiePuckrikSmells: Hmm...I'm usually not a big proponent of layering (how can you see the first painting if you put another in front of it). That being said, I might have to give it a try. Btw: many more viral perfume critics have come out recently, but I still think you're the absolute best!!! Love your channel!!

KatiePuckrikSmells 11 months ago
You're so right about this perfume being a victim of it's own popularity. I can't count the number of weddings I've attended where I've sniffed the air and detected clouds of this fragrance emanating off different women. I'm sick of smelling it on people sadly and it's lost it's appeal to me because it's so common now.

sigourney523 11 months ago
omg, you expressed my exact thoughts on this perfume! =) Coco Mademoiselle is indeed a victim of it's own popularity... But how come No 5 is not perceived in the same way?
deathscythe77 1 year ago 2
This is a WONDERFUL question! So wonderful that I had to sit down and give it some good thought. I think No. 5 is "classic", not "common", firstly because it has stood the test of time. Also, it was a groundbreaking work of art when it came out in 1921, and influenced perfume trends for generations. And for many years, perfume was an exclusive luxury item worn mostly by wealthy people, so No. 5 has retained that cachet.
KatiePuckrikSmells 11 months ago
It's funny, though - No. 5 continues to dominate the fume landscape, even though for many years of its reign, it was one of only hundreds of other perfumes, not the thousands that are available today. It has transcended ubiquity to make it to the hallowed halls of true classics.
KatiePuckrikSmells 11 months ago
@KatiePuckrikSmells you're right, No 5 still carries its status of perfume for "people of wealth". I wonder if Coco Mademoiselle, just like No5, will too graduate into "classic" one day (or did it already??.. I personally doubt that)
deathscythe77 11 months ago
I heard of a fragrance called "Joy" ...what's that all about? It's supposed to be nice.

You have such a nice skin. How do you keep your skin so nice ? Do you stay out of the sun, because your skintone looks nice.
Sukantara 1 year ago 11

I like Mademoiselle's 'elegant femininity + bug spray' character and I like Lady Vengeance for the same reason, even though they don't smell the same. My skin really sucks up the patch notes and spits out everything else though. Chance smells practically identical after 15 minutes on my wrist.
35M40 1 year ago

TheSukiebapswent 1 year ago
@TheSukiebapswent I thought for sure Les Senteurs in London would carry it, but the closest they have is Lutens Feminite de Bois. Bois de Violette is a violet-y version of FdB (putting it simplistically). You could always get a samp of FdB from Les Senteurs and see if it's going in the right direction for you.
Anyway, Bois de Violette is a gorgeous, full-bodied spicy oriental featuring Violette in a dramatic way, rather than a simpering pastel way.
KatiePuckrikSmells 1 year ago
@KatiePuckrikSmells Sold!! FdB is my signature scent!! Time for a blind buy methinks....
