  • Welk knew he had the best. Havens performed for several years with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain in the best Dixieland combo of all time! Now that he's almost 90. It's fun to sit next to him in the Quincy Park Band (union concert band). When he gets featured on a solo on a dixieland medley, he turns into a young man and just rips the songs. He is amazing!

  • holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!...um in a state of awe after watching this trombone fiasco!!!

  • WIN. That is all. Also, I sooooo want to find sone sheet music for this!!!!

  • i jizzed in my pants when i heard this. This man just won the internets.

  • That guy's AWESOME!!!

  • You can't say Welk didn't have the best !

  • WOW - T-bone hot off the grill! SMOKIN'! Been a Welkie since I was a kid in the Fifties - don't know how this Bob Havens gem eluded me for all these years. Thanks for the "new" memory, tvcollector71. Add another FIVE STARS to your tvcollection!

  • An excerpt of Bob's performance was presented on that special from the early '90s that was hosted by the Lennon Sisters. That was some performance!

  • Holy cow...Havens is just an amazing t-bone player but I had no idea he could do the old vaudeville-type routine as well. Nice but short work from the three reeds, Bonnee, Klein and Dumont!
