My "jazz rock garage band" played this way back when I was in high school in the early 1980s. Though primarily a bass player and saxophonist, I compose a lot on keyboards. I have always played this song as | Gm9 / / / | Am7 / D7b9 / | ... the left hand plays the root, while the right hand fingering would be: Gm9 ( F A Bb D ) ; Am7 ( G A C E ) ; D7b9 ( F# A C Eb ) ... give that a shot. ;-)

This is a good performance, but I think the best live performance Deodato ever did of "Superstrut" was live at the Mississippi River Jazz Festival in 1974. That performance was recorded and published on a vinyl LP, which I have. It is truly an awesome live performance, and makes you think you are there. Tight arrangement, and the instruments are clear, alive, and distinct.

I was just there about a few minutes ago, and they have them there, even if you have to settle for a used CD (there ARE sealed ones too), I can tell you are definitely a Deodato fan if you want this rarity.
