thats not a landing, thats a go around, and thats not wild, thats a regular go around.. you kids should relax a bit instead of hitting the panic button each time something you never saw happens, newbies ;)
@freedom28777 That's not a go around... It says "wind" landing not wild. It's an aborted landing because of a cross wind. As my flight instructor used to tell me, "Better to get back up in the air where it's safe than force a bad landing."
lol imagine being in the Right side of that plane thinking ...OH MY GOD WERE SIDEWAYS!!!!!!!! lol they better scrub those seats when they actually DO land
This was at Ontario Airport in So Cal the Santa Ana winds is what caused the aborted landing. The runway has 70 kts crosswinds at times and they reverse the landing pattern.
In the video you can see a mountain with snow on it that is Big Bear. It is to the East of the Airport normal landing approach is West bound.
Yes but windy. This is caused by Mechanical Turbulence from the heating of the ground making an updraft mixing with the High pressure in the area causing turbulence wil a low ceiling. Yes im a aviation nerd. Sue me!
which aircraft is it??

Looks like a 707 with the most recent engine swap they did on some of those. I heard that crosswind landings are very tricky too.
BayAreaLen 3 years ago
It's a DC-8. UPS does not operate 707's.

that was a high-pucker landing attempt. It looks like Ontario (California) International. Was it? I know it gets very windy at times.
dyrge86 3 years ago 2
It is Ontario. It's a UPS DC8 with the upgraded engines.

Who was piloting that thing! What a terrible landing - he had his node pointing down all the time he came down on the runway!
sebread1 3 years ago
The wind changed as he was landing so he lost control, which is why he had to take off again.

Two things: It was a UPS plane so no passengers, and another is that it seemed to come in nose down and that's probably why it aborted.

The Plane did not crash it just had wind shear from the cross-winds.
