Good work. I especially liked how you gave orders to the model in a friendly yet professional manner. Do ignore the nasty comments. They're not photographers. :)
This is definitely a ghetto setup, but it will work, but just to get by. Honestly tho, if you are going to shoot a "model" presumably "hired", I don't think anyone would bring her into this ghetto setup, unless you pay her with peanuts. Another con is that, with those bulbs (nowadays spose u can get cooler lights with lower wattage), the room would be hot as heck in a very short time.
@djshadowpain Honestly dude you dont know shit. Models would go if it was for money or not. some models go to build there portfolios. and you dont even know what ghetto is.
@cavalars from 80s, 90s or 2000's, lighting techniques do not change all that much, just that which style is more popular. The sun still comes up in the morning and sets in the evening.
@AzureDD this set up wont call for manfrottos. Might as well just ebay some china made ones will do. Even cheaper, just use a broomstick, some cement and a used paint bucket. Those are clamp lights, commonly found in hardware store used for garage workshops and (other purposes). So essentially the light stand you need is just a stick for the clamps to cling on to, and that it can be moved around.
@conrad2001 I noticed that the back of her left arm was over-exposed also. At least in my opinion. If you were using these methods, and you shot that picture, and didn't like that over-exposure, simply move that particular light further away from the model. That's the beauty of controlling your lighting. It's just a personal thing, but I see most professional portraits as being over-exposed. In fact, the first shot in this clip, with just one light, I thought it was very nice.
@safoed with ability to set custom WB it really doesn't matter what bulbs you use, just make sure that they are all consistent: all daylight or all tungsten
Im a biggener and i feel this is still wrong..

What kind of light stand are you using ? Do you have any recommendation for a good cheap lightstand ?
AzureDD 3 months ago
@AzureDD I use manfrotto stands , they are on expensive side but last long time and take abuse well.

Did I hear correctly 150 or 160watt bulbs in each clamp lamp?
seems you could use a thinner paper and get away with less light.
ne5b 11 months ago
@ne5b yes you are correct. but thinner paper would have a hot spot and produce harder light / different look, but will work fine too....
