  • SOME THINGS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE GOD BLESS

  • in 1978 I meet a girl from New England We stayed in touch I went to New England to see her On the way I heard this song When I got there her parents didnt like me cause I was a soldier boy.9 yr later I meet the love of my life and got married 1 yr later SHE came to Va looked me up and said she thought about me for all those yrs. We had lunch and went our separate ways.24 yrs lates still married to the love of my life with 2 g8 kids Spent 26 yr in the ARMY,PROUD TO BE A SOLDIER GOD BLESS the USA

  • Is it alright for a old black man too love this song?,,,,,LOL

  • This brings me back to a particular time in my life; I was actually in love with someone from Boston and flying up from New York at the weekends.

    It still makes me weepy.

    Thank you!

  • Yes Yurick I LOVE IT!!! It's an amazing song and Barry is an amazing artist. Beautiful, thanks for posting really, simply put...BEAUTIFUL!!! Cheers from stateside, Lori :)

  • On Piers Morgan, Barry said he never had a broken heart. Man, I don't know where he dug up the feelings for many of his songs, but he somehow found it.

  • i hope this isn't awckward or anything but as soon as i heard this song i thought of a fat mall cop getting his heart broken...

  • Great observation. Funny how life works!

  • This was being played when my bf and I was about to break-up. He cried. Well. that was 12 years ago. We broke up years after. He was my first love. He is already married. But somehow whenever I hear this song I feel nostalgic about us. I still feel the ache but not as much as when we broke up. Even if how much we both tried we did not end up together. Life is soo funny sometimes...

  • @lga935898 It truly is amazing how things bring us back and yet give us strength to start new. Life is so funny.

  • @RepublicanOtter Yes... I am back here again because of you and I am tearing right now. Somehow. I ask myself why do we have to love someone so much and then we will say goodbye to them. Take care. :(

  • Holy moley, that's beautiful.

  • Thankyou for posting this...I hadn't heard it since I was a teenager, and it is lovely.

  • I used to sit at my local library and listen to albums too!

  • just heard this song!, girl im seeing loves it so much she wants it at her funeral!!, i cant listen to the whole song as i fill up!! hope our relationship works x

  • We threw it all away 25 years ago....for dumb reasons.....we found each again after 25 years....and it was magical, but living in different continents now....makes it so hard.....we met for the first time since then in a U.S. city....the goodbye after that was heartbreaking......when will I hold you again my sweet love?

  • i remember someone this song..

  • nice..

  • yes this song is GREAT saw him 3 times in concert doing this, its his most beautiful song, and of course I live in New England!

  • Beautiful!

  • When I was a young pvt in the army, we invaded a tiny island called Grenada in 1983 where I met this beautiful woman 15 yrs my senior. Tried courting her but my unit cdr was dead set against it, so it was forbidden. Tried sneaking out but got caught and was sent back to the states. Everyone thought it wasn't going to last anyway. So, during our forced seperation, I made a cassette of this song and sent it to her. The next year we got married & started a family. 26 yrs later & we're still in love

  • @Draegerman

that is so sweet. gald u guys made it and 26 yrs later ur still together. don't never take her for granted.

  • @Draegerman Life is so ironic, I´m happy for you, but then again it was in this invasion that a good man like Maurice Bishop was murdered. Yet it is wonderful that you had the courage to do what you did....for love.

  • I sat at the library 30 years ago and listened to this album. Then I bought the cassette and listened to it over and over again, Now I am hearing it on the computer at the same library. Funny how many of life's many circles that we go around.

  • @davidtheb David, that is pretty cool lol

  • i really love this song!

  • I wonder if most producers in the music industry is run by the Mob. :( It is hard finding good music on the air nowadays.

  • 1982. I went to visit my one true love near Boston. She picked me up at the airport. On the way to her place we drove near a rocky beach with pounding waves. I yelled, "Stop!" I sat her on alarge rock and turned on a casette player with this song and signed in ASL (she was an interpreter) the entire song and signed, "Will you marry me?" That was 29 years ago. I stll hear the waves every time I look at her.

  • this is disturbing

  • I feel you...There is no one that makes music like this any more....It's so rare, Michael Buble is about as close as it gets to this kind of music....Soul feeling, relaxing, dance to kind of stuff, that lasts a life time........

  • Saw him a wembley 1980s fantastic memories!!

  • Thumbs up if Paul Blart brought you here.

  • This song brings back so many wonderful memories!

  • you did a beautiful job with the lyrics...thank you for taking me back in time soooo many years ago

  • Yurick...did you ever get to see him in concert? I went to Vegas in April (2011) to see him at the Paris and then afterwards met him by accident in one of the casinos. I have been a big fan since the 70's. He was so so nice!

  • Nineteen years ago tonight It started with dinner in Manhattan and ended up with an overnight stay at a hotel in New Haven, CT. I will never forget you....wherever you may be!

    Thanks for the memories! :)

  • Unreal talent. A superstar for the ages in all his humility and class. Bravo Mr. Manilow!

  • WHY ARE TOP COMMENTS ALWAYS STORIES?!!

  • i fell in love with this song first time i heard it. and up until now i still get teary eyed whenever i listen to this touching song. thanks barry for this wonderful song! <3

  • my friend tiffany did a lyrical dance to this song

  • I once heard Robert Guillame sing this on an English chat show, wonderful voice!

  • I support necro in his crusade against whiny overly sensitive homos like the 2 gentlemen below me.

  • @SmellMyButtHole YOU ARE BEYOND REPREHENSIBLE. PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE THE REST OF THE WORLD QUESTION THE HUMAN RACE. SO MANY OF US TRY TO LIVE PEACEFUL, MEEK LIVES, TO HELP OTHERS....YOU ARE OUT TO TWIST AND SICKEN THIS PLANET AND ALL THE GOOD WE TRY TO FIND IN THE HUMAN RACE. POSTING THIS SICK, TWISTED SHIT JUST PROVES HOW MANY OF YOU DO THE DEVIL'S WORK FOR HIM... YOU ARE WEAK, BUT GOD'S FOLLOWER'S WILL TRULY OVERCOME MONSTERS LIKE YOU!!!!

  • @Monique69117 lol God's followers....harhar..good one.

But anyways, what's wrong with you? What, corpses can't have some lovin?

My granny is dead, and the only thing close to love she gets are the maggots crawling up her tuna-dungeon.

Ey,all I'm tryin to say is,that Dead chicks need love too,ya damn Sheeny-Shylock-Jew lover.

  • @NecroFeelYouUp WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? FOR REAL..... YOU HAVE NO HEART OR SOUL APPARENTLY. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU SEEK LONG TERM PSYCHOTHERAPY, IF NOT JAIL TIME.; YOU FUCKING FREAK. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, JERK.

  • I absolutely agree. This was just a bit before my time, but Barry hits your heart and soul. There is nothing out there now, that touches like Barry or Lionel Richie.

  • A natural talent among the dross that passes itself off as popular music! Music to move to, to love to, and to cry to - and not many singers do that now!

  • Fell in love to this song and still going strong after 35 years

  • Notice the complete lack of AutoTune.

  • i super love barry manilow!!!

  • for my x-gf;-) With you

    I can bring out

All the love, that I have

    --With you there's a heaven

NOW there's no heaven in me....

  • I signed the words in American Sign Language to her as the song played against the roaring surf. At the end of the song, I signed the question, "Will you marry me?" She shooker her hand, "Yes." It has been a great quarter century. Thank you God for the answer to my prayers.

  • Man, it's wonderful to live in New England.

  • @DaysOfPineAndRoses Except for the totally overrated Red Sox!!

  • Soooo love this song.....

  • My first infatuatiional love sang this song to me.

  • Here's another song by Mr. Manilow that is beyond beautiful! I have cried many times to this poignant masterpiece--along with Mandy! Peace and love, BobbyK

  • one of my favorite barry songs. it's so dramatic.

  • This was my mams favourite song, she died of alzhimers, but she rememberd the song right upto her passing away. We played it at her funeral, it breaks my heart everytime i hear it.

  • @urGUARDIANangl98 My Arse!!!!! Oh Please! call yourself a guardian angel? what on earth does your post have to do with this music? do yourself a favour, get a life and stop being such an immature idiot!!! if there are angels out there, they would be weeping right about now!

  • this is awsome XXX

  • This song came out way back when I was in the 6th grade. I love it then & I love it now! BEAUTIFUL!!

  • manilow man a-live! he's a god!! love you barry.xx

  • Love this song.....but be careful of criticizing today's music. It sounds dreadfully close to what our parents said about the music we listened to in our youth.

  • @Bluecat279

There is a lot of good stuff out there that is new. Not liking music because it is new is no different than not liking older music because it is old.

There is beautiful music in every generation. <3

  • Every time I hear this it brings back such wonderful memories of the 70's..and of the man who stole my heart. Unfortunately, our love for each other was shadowed forever with other spouses.

The last time I saw him was the summer of '88. He died in 1991 at the age of 37.

I still love him deeply-and I know that someday, I will see him again.

  • Almost forgotten how good this song was 'til I saw the movie Mall Cop.

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL- i'm sorry to hear about your mum's passing.. i cried after reading your comment!!

  • here´s to Maricarmen,wherever she may be.

  • theres somthin about this song it always send a calming feeling for me through anything that i am going throu

  • great song

  • I will never forget Michael, the Salem Inn, how we met and the numerous letters that were written. It's been 15 years and the hurt has never healed.

  • This song takes me back to a time that was so much happier and simpler. Wish I could go back, I would make so many changes to my life. I am in a 30 year marriage that is falling apart. Should have ended it years ago. Cant keep staying with someone that I have no feelings or respect for anymore.

  • @boxerdogs11 It is never ever too late to do...what you could have done. Be happy. It is life´s obligation.

  • It just takes me back to the seventies....days that were so very different than the present.

  • I hate and love this song. I was thinking of my grandma, and how much I miss her, and then this song plays on shoutcast... and then reading SH0RTiEluvsATL's post...

  • a very beautiful song...have a version of this song...u can check it on my page...pls comment...tnx

  • To Brent.....

  • favorite of my brother.... he always play this song when he is here in Philippines.... i miss him so much.....

  • i feel like Red in Shawshank redemption.

  • Why can't music be like this again? We have lost all our great singers. No one in this generation comes close to touching this type of music. Nobody's voice has this type of power and emotion anymore. Our music has lost its charm =( sometimes I pray, that we will get a singer that will be more than just the newest autotuned trend. I've give up on the radio, its all garbage and you can't even tell who is singing anymore since everyone sounds the same.

  • @awesomestars12 - and they said this 30 years ago as well. They will say it again in another 30 years - Please have some originality

  • @awesomestars12 our time has passes all we have now is the old stuff to treasure

  • @awesomestars12

You are so right. This new music is nothing but trash

  • @awesomestars12 i totally agree with u :/

if i could sing i would do it like this type of music!! for those people, who loved sucha music! ;)

  • @awesomestars12 im afraid thats part of life. we have to enjoy our old great music because the music of today sucks kids today are angry and misguided. have you noticed that cds shops (that still sell cds) keep bringing out new verisons of our artists best ofs and greatest hits whats that tell you? all i can say is treasure our barry manillows, air supply and stuff like that because it aint coming back.

  • @eubanky2112 Not all of them are. I'm sure you know that, but I am just saying that I am a teen, barely 14, and I hate today's music. And I'm not angry either lol But yeah, there are kids that feel the same way.

  • @HeroOfTime121 i didnt mean every kid but alot of them are misguided i actually thought rap was just a phase and go away but it didnt and now its considered an art form

  • @stupidcupid2005 That, I did not know. An art form? I can't even understand what they're saying. Rap is nothing but talking about how you sell meth and go to prison... I hope that when I have kids, they never have to listen to any trash like rap.

  • @awesomestars12 Barry Manilow is still alive. Instead of complaining that there aren't any "replacements" for him, why don't you enjoy the present and go see him perform this. When Barry's gone, then come back and tell us how much you miss him and how much there aren't anyone like him anymore. Stop focusing on the negative and appreciate a great artist now, BEFORE he's taken from us.

  • @StevenWebster5 People who are his true fans know he's rockin Vegas!!!!

  • @awesomestars12 You probably got a gazillion responses to this comment saying : go check this out or whatever, so here's my recommendation : Darren Criss. Skip all the Glee stuff. His actual original compositions he wrote before his fame and success are beautiful.

  • @awesomestars12 Oh, there is music like this still. Trust me, but the industry doesn't want them anymore. Look on youtube, look up original songs, by people who aren't huge stars. Almost every song will be filled with so much heart and love for music, and sadly each video will have roughly 100 views or so. I personally like to go and listen to them and let them know how good the songs are :D

  • @awesomestars12 if you want a good radio station go to 100.3 jack fm it has all the old songs like 80s 70s 90s and even some 60s it depends on how big a hit it was

  • can't wait to see him in miami

  • This song lost a lot of its shine for me about the time i got my divorce from a girl from New England , That accent gets on your nerves after a while .

  • Thanks for sharing. Love Barry too!

  • My all time favourite Manilow song

  • "When WILL this strong yearning end?".....

  • great love song,, I played von our 1st aninversary

  • Play this song at the prom

play sexual healing at your house

    get laid :)

  • This is such a good song. Love it. Reminds me when I was younger.

  • how far Vegas do You live? The who posted this. I live 80 miles and have been to the Paris but last I checked on tickets, 200 dollars each. He and Neil Diamond. best contempary song writers of the last 30 decades.. nice post

  • im bidding you goodbye my dearest soul mate, thank you for being a part of me even in distance,im wishing you happiness always...

  • My mom had passed away three and a half years ago. I hadn't heard this song for a really long time. well, on the ride home from the hospital that dreadful morning. i finally decided to put the radio on and the first words i heard.... Last night I wave Goodbye.... omg did i cry... I love and miss you sooooo much MOM <3

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL I am sure she is in the happiest place above and listening to the beautiful yet heart-touching song as you are, and she loves you and misses you too =]

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL im really very sorry for your pain its never easy

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL so sad ...reading your post made me shudder inside..god bless you .. you will meet her again ..

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL - I am so sorry that you lost your mom. I hope you are starting to get over your loss and maybe feeling a bit better. Best regards. x

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL i read your comments and i must say i can relate...thanx

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL Im sorry that happened to you.

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL

I know exactly what you're feeling!

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL My Mom wasn;t a Barry Manilow fan, but I lost her, and when I hear certain songs, I would get all "vklempt"!! I'm not Jewish, or anything, I've just watch SNL he he!!

  • @SH0RTiEluvsATL God bless you.....your mom. That pain just doesn´t fade. It is something we live with. Remember her well....tell your children about her...pass on her legacy.

  • This song teaches us memories are our one and only possession.

  • I love this man!!

  • D BEST

  • I just love all your songs Barry. You are the BEST!!! Saw your concert here in Manila. . .

  • when i dont see anymore the guy of UE residing at alfredos apt, p noval, and everytime i hear this song always remind me of him, my secret and forever love

  • stà passando novembre....di eros ramazzotti !!!!!!

  • YOURE MY IDOL BARRY....YOURE SO INTELLIGENT, SO GOOD ...

  • The piano version alone is just beautiful. He is briliiant at arrangements. He has too much talent for the record industry NOT to pay much respect and tribute to him. Do you hear these gorgeous instruments today? Do kids join the band today? Nope. It's all of that garbage. Barry, I miss the time of beautful instruments. Thanks for the wonderful memories. I played this at my 10th grade piano recital-received a standing ovation:)

  • @catgirl38

I was around 10th grade when this came out lol. U r right, that was a time where there was such rich talent that we never got tired of radio. Now it is mostly mediocre talent with computers and remixes to cover up their mediocrity. Sad, right?

  • I love Barry Mannilow, such a heart felt singer, so talented.

  • it still gives me goosebumps...

  • LOVE this song, reminds me of seeing Barry in Las Vegas at Paris :-)))))

  • ive been thinking the title of the song is when will our eyes meet...but its weekend in new england ....ahhh ive been searching this for long but finally now i found it..

  • beautiful song

  • Have met the girl of my dreams. We have made this our song. I dream of the day we dance to this at our wedding.

  • i really love this song:'(

  • fantastic vocals!! this is the song that will be playing when i put a 357 in my mouth!! how glorious it will be.

  • I live in New England. Every weekend is beautiful here. Outer Cape Cod - Eastham to Wellfleet... is why I STILL live here. Amazingly beautiful. =)!

  • I have just been to New England and met someone---this song is such a great reminder and I can't get him out of my mind as I sit here in New York--thanks for the song Barry

  • this is a good song

  • barry manillow!!

  • @agentmic1 sucks

  • I... just...can't express the way I feel whenever I hear this song, It's like, it makes me want to cry, but the happieness I also feel stifles back the tears. Just...so.......overwhelming. And whenever I hear any Barry Manilow song, it almost feels like I've known Barry for years and if I ran into him in a restaraunt or bar, he'd invite me over for a drink and we'd just watch the world pass through the window. (p.s. Yes, I'm one of the straight, male Manilow fans).

  • Awesome work, nice mix. You did a great job, love Barry and always will.

  • Awesome work, nice mix.

  • this is my fave song of all time,,,,,,,

  • at 1:18 NOT Barry!!!!!!

  • @mrsshorty good catch!

  • This is my fav Manilow song such great lyrics

  • saw Barry in Vegas a few years back - FANTASTIC!!!

  • @545linda I've seen him there too. He's at the 02 London in May next year

  • @545linda

Have seen him 4 times now, once in Vegas also. My friends rag on me all the time about my love for him, but I have converted doubters. The lyrics, the heartfelt melodies, I love this stuff....

  • With you there is a heaven so earth ain't so bad. It is so nice to have people around whom you know you can rely on. Nice music and Barry's rendition of it. Thumbs up!

  • one of the most beautiful love songs i have ever heard. strikes a chord in me. will i find my true love?

  • @veeseee128 ...u will...when the right time comes..with the right person... :)

  • Awesome song!! :)

  • this song moved me....

  • I don't care about the comments about his "syrupy" lyrics and that he's not cool or whatever. He is a classic.

  • Heard this song on "Paul Blart Mall Cop'" a touching song for a great movie. Never count the underdog down (had a tear in my eye when listening)

  • im sure she feels the same way and looks down on you , x D

  • Great great song. Love the lyric. Thank you for sharing.

  • Gerry L., and Loren F., will have to wait for a very long time. Before they get to see each other again...

  • Sometimes when u say goodbye it's so hard to try and get that special someone back in ur arms and the wait can be very very painful and this song hits that mark.

  • ive noticed that hardly any of the barry manilow vids have thumbs downs on them

  • @mrawsome17 And why should they? Other than I pushed the wrong button once. (Not on a Manilow song.) Felt bad about it, but if it had been a Manilow video, I would have written a very long apoligy.--DF

  • nice nice nice!

  • Remembering someone so dear to me... thanks for uploading it.

  • One of my Barry Favorites...
