How much did it cost to restore it back to the original? And where did you find all the original part? My dad has the same jeep and my dad and brother would love to get more of the original part, were not trying to get it all the way back to the original, but we would love to get it closer. It would be great if you could give me some info especially on brakes. Thanks. By the way great job restoring yours.
@crumeny I have found a 1951(or some other m38 model jeep) in my grandpas barn and me and my mom are going to restore it this year. The one issue is that the motor was converted to a f head on an l head so the carb is through the hood and there is no front grille. Any idea of how to get a hold of the key piece of the jeep?
A little constructive criticism never hurt anyone. The radio antenna mount is the correct one, but your missing the brush guard and it is mounted wrong. Good luck with it. I have owned one for ten years and it is 99.9% original.
Nice Jeep but absolutely awful music.......I had to turn the volume off to watch the video.....can't see the conection between a '52 Jeep and that so called music....
@dwi189 WAAYY you whine like an old bitch...this is Metallica...they are in the rock hall of fame...if you dont know them then you are probably like 75 years old or your one of these wigger kids.
hey man! you got a beauty full m 38! i am doing a frame of right now not to military specs but to use it as my dayly driver. i think if the engineers had a descend diesel 60 years ago they had one built in same with disc brakes and so on. but i love your willys.
Please tell me those are NOT 15 inch tires on an otherwise nice restoration. The original tires are 7.00 X 16, on 16 X 5.5 inch wheels. A good set of stock tires and wheels would just about make it complete.
@Jeff99GS No, they should be 16 inch. They are the narrow 5.5 in. width to accommodate the 7.00 X 16 tires, which were standard on all military 1/4 ton vehicles built post WW2. The civilian models had 15 inch wheels.
Assuming you are the owner, it's funny that you put an amazing amount of effort into getting it historically correct, (you did a truly commendable job) and then you play that crap "music" with it, and put those silly fake bullet holes on it? Kinda sad....
@anonymoususerindenve My dad owns it ...I helped him restore it. He is a Marine that served in Vietnam and Korea...he used to drive a jeep JUST like this everyday. It has sentimental value to him...he put the stickers on it, NOT me. They are just static stickers...they come right off.

Anyone who modifies an M38 (changing to 12V from the original 24V, puting turn signals on it, etc.), has to realize that they are devaluing it.

ShnitzlHaus, I belive that is a Canadian made M38. If it has an engin block that is painted gray, it means it was made in Canada.

@dakampw They are the original wheels that came on this Jeep in 1952...I thought they were 16.5" rims but im not sure...I dont know the width.

@Jeff99GS Okay. No need to get snippy. I was just asking.
It's a really nice M38. You did a good job restoring it.
You have a newer one? JK? I have a JK Wrangler too. 2007. My dream car.
While they sound good, heated seats, remote start, DVD player and whatever a Dana 44 is does not a good car make.

@Jeff99GS Your Jeep can't drive in snow? That's too bad it can't shit anymore. May I recommend a different fuel brand?
