  • i don't see why you would go into a structure fire like that with an scba and not put your respirator in you don't know what you got in there

  • If they still are teaching students that smoking is bad, they aren't doing a good job as alot of teens smoke

  • my father-in-law is in this episode @ 6:15. R.I.P. Dale Mcbride. we miss you.

  • the fireman in this video is my uncle. Instead of being rude and inconsiderate of others in it, you should be thankful that there are rescue workers ready and willing to sacrifice their life for your life daily.

  • I notice you put a (II) on the title of Firefighter Heart Attack because there is another one with 212. Good idea on that.

  • The other one is chief firefighter has heart attack while driving fire truck

  • this happened to a Topeka Fire Fighter a few years ago...he sadly passed away though

  • was it in the line

  • watching this video makes my heart race at unbelievable speed. I nearly panic when I see someone collapse like that.

  • Don't become a firefighter or EMT then...

  • Probably saved a life and then his life almost went

  • Could the third Firefighter (Paramedic Dave?) interviewed be any more out of shape? I'm surprised he wasn't the one to go down.

As for the rest of the Firefighters... WOW. Let's wear our SCBA next time, and how about the Captain staying outside and being in command instead of running in a building alone? No wonder they killed off two Firefighters later that week.

  • Could you be more rude and inconsiderate? Go get a life and quit leaving your effed up comments on here.

  • look at the size of that paramedic your think having a medical backround you would keep your weight to a safe level :/!!

  • two kilgore firefighters died a few days ago they fell through a roof

  • His friend is really nice!

  • dont firefighters get enough smoke in there life from there job as it is why the heck was that firefighter smoking in his lif in the first place hello what were you thinking........ well im glad your ok peace

  • alot of ff's do smoke and theyre fine look at this guy though hes not in shape you could smoke but be in shape

  • Gil is correct on eating better; I hope he stopped smoking. Glad he is ok but I'd be happy if my wife's ex husband had a heart attack like this one(but a fatal one); he was a fireman until retiring 2 yrs. ago and he was real bad to my wife and I hate the fire dept. in our town not only cause of him being a fireman there but there service is bad.

  • R.I.P. firefighter Ray Barret and Mike Laggroteria west Milford fd 2008

  • I don't know how bad fires dealing with bleach, laundry detergent, and any other cleaning products can be. But I know that some of those cleaning products can leave really strong fumes.

  • When they burn they release poisonous gas which can kill you faster than walking into the heaviest of smoke-filled buildings.

  • SAD!

  • Ive been a firefighter since i was 18yrs old my buddy who worked with me died at a house fire he had his Ba mask on oxygen tank was half full and died of a heart attack it was a shock to us all he never smoked was healthy goes to show u could be the fittest man on the planet and u could still die of a heart attack or stroke we all risk of heart failer every human risks heart fail or heart problems

  • well im sorry for your lost but i might just be a fire fighter when im 18... whats the age regulation? because im 13 years old

  • I don't know where you are but in Kentucky you can start training @ 16 as a jr firefighter and @ 18 you can be a responding fireman. I started @ 13 but that was befor the limit. Hope you go through with it we need more Young members, you are the future of the fire service.

    Sincerely,

    Captain 410

    Burna Fire & Rescue

  • How can you become a firefighter

  • you have to go through school and talk with your local fire department on what you have to do

  • Sorry to hear about that. I'm a CNA (certified Nurses assistant) i'm going to College to obtain my Licensed Practical Nurse license. The only time I have worked on someone was when I was at a concert at the Mall with my friend Dana. There was another girl in the audience who collapsed because of a low sugar spell.....I hope to God, I never have to work on someone I know.....even if it's my own worst enemy.

  • why would he not wear a mask?

  • is this all real video or a reinactment?

  • It's all a reenactment. Segments that have real footage say "Footage Taped on [date of the incident]" at the bottom of the screen, or Shatner will say "This story is not a re-creation" at the beginning. For an example of one with real footage, watch Bridge Rescue from Episode 102.

  • It isn't the end of the world if you do smoke when you are a fire man.

  • I don't think that it's a good idea to smoke when you are a firefighter !

  • Firefighters are true men of honor.God bless you to all.

  • A heart attack could hit ANYBODY,whether it is from a clogged artery, previously undetected defects like Cardiomyopathy, valve abnomalities, or a torn aorta, and many others.Scary but true.

  • Why didn't he just put on a BA mask?

  • I went to the fire academy and these guys were my instructors. They were a great group of guys and now I am able to work with them as an RN in the emergency department.

  • ok that does it, Im quiting...

  • The good old days of rescue 911, it's what really made me want to get into Fire/EMS. This was truly a miracle here cause probably 8out of 10 people who code don't make it. He's especially lucky because the quality of the CPR being performed on him looked pretty poor according to today's standards, and i'm not sure that they had a line and gave him meds and I don't think he was intubated either. They revived him that's what counts. Good BLS before ALS.

  • They had him intubated. This was just a recreation.

  • This video of this firefighter having a heart attack hits very close to home for me. My 2nd cousin who is a 30 yr veteran of my hometown fire department and a Fire Lieutenant. Had a major heart attack about 6 yrs ago. He was at home at the time of the beginning stages of the heart attack. He drove himself to the hospital (because his wife was currently 7 months pregnant). And right after he entered the hospitals emergency room entrance. He lost all vital signs. Thank God he's still alive today.

  • That's scary. I was in the same hospital room when an unbrella had stabbed me in the leg. I also drove by that fire station everyday to work.

  • Just wondering but how did you get stabbed by an umbrella? did you fall on it or something?

  • I was riding a bike in the rain when i was 5, the handle was broken off and i leaned against a lamp pole and in it went. I didnt feel a thing though.

  • Ow =(

  • No the old EOA airway is yellow. The Combi-tube has always been blue and white.

  • yeah what he/she said!

  • Thank God he survived. Stay Safe out there brothers and sisters.

  • yea that is the #1 killer of fireman. That is why all of us fireman should loose some weight.

  • there is 838 votes on the thing to bring it back on tv beacause i did it!

  • Jesus, I would have thought that giant pumpkin head with the short blonde hair would have been the one to have the heart attack

  • fuck that i rather have a stroke

  • No you wouldn't. My Dad had a stroke. He died

  • I Want to learn CPR,so I can revive a heart attack victim.

  • It still is the number one killer of young firefighters, we need to take care of ourselves if we want to continue to help others.

  • Heart Attack is natural, it could come by gaining wieght or exercising too hard or it could just come just like that. natural disease. you dont have to be fat or althletic, it could just come.

  • Some people in their 80s or 90s die of Natural Causes.

  • yeah like a real doc ey .... ...tjeeezzz VKF is NOT normal!!!. u forget the the cause==> the oclusion of the coronary artery==> ischemia==> angina pectoris ===> necrotisation ....

the extreem heat that rises ure heart beat

the smoking ==> = more resistance IN the vains less perfusion In the lungs ==> the lack of 02 in the air ................................................... Just come??? tsss

  • firefighters stick together that is what we call the brotherhood

  • HOLY SHIT I'm LOSING WEIGHT FUCK THAT

  • :O You know honestly, you don't feel like a hero when you work for the EMS, the first couple of days... you feel like your the reason people are alive, every other day you just feel like it's a job, and someone has to do it... =\ I'm an EMT-I working for Caldwell County EMS, going for my paramedic. And it truly is an awesome job.

  • thank you longlivethewtc.... i'm glad you feel that way about us firefighter!!

    :)

  • ok that does it, Im quiting...

  • God Bless all you firefighters/ems/police/dispatchers/etc... You do all of us a great service.

  • The combi-tube is yellow O.o When did they change it to blue and white?

  • The combi-tube is not yellow. the combi-tube has always been blue and white. The blue is the primary tube. When you bag a person you listen for breath sounds bilateraly. If you hear no breath sounds, you move to the white tube.

  • I know, I just passed my EMT cert.

  • Great save guys!

  • I'm curious. Did the supermarket have to be rebuild or did it have to be moved to a different location because of the fire? I wonder how it started in the 1st place.

  • I have the second segment which is a documentary of a Baton Rouge air care helicopter documentary on tape from a 30-minute syndicated show.

  • go to tvshowsondvd, com and vote on rescue 911 to come out on dvd, rescue 911 has 433 votes to come out on dvd

  • im scared my dad is a firefighter

  • Don't Be scared im sure your dad will be fine i am a Firefighter too and i have never been hurt we are very safe at fire calls

  • Don't worry, sweetheart. He loves you and wants to come back home at the end of every shift as much as you want him to. P.S. I have 3 children of my own.

  • that fire truck behind william shatner was a crown firecoach

  • God Erin!! You were so hot! Love the mullet!

  • i guess these ppl r payed

  • me six! i use to watch this show with my dad every week growing up. Will it ever come back on tv and show all current stories?

  • I don't mean to be rude but how come most of these people that have cardiac arrest on this show are overweight?

  • yeah that's true... but i would think that an overweight firefighter is still in pretty good shape with all the running and such

  • He also smoked, that could have had something to do with it.

  • Usually, in some cases it does. As well as poor diet and alcohol use.

  • You should edit your video info, because it says firefighters, not firefighter.

  • I think what caused Gil's heart attack was, not just because he had a smoking habit, but also due to inhaling probably too much of the smoke and cholorine bleach in the store while attempting to put out the fire. I could be wrong you know but I'm just guessing.

  • if you compare him to the guy at 3:01, he's not really overweight ;)

  • meat and cigarettes. Simple as

  • When you think about it, that's probably the second best place to have a heart attack ... second to being in the hospital itself.

  • Me four

  • me five

  • me three ^.^

  • Mine too!

  • rescue 911 is one of my favorite shows

  • same here
