  • What is it you're doing here?

  • @barelycertain Most official Tetris games after 2001 use the "Bag" randomizer -- it shuffles the seven unique pieces, pulls them out one at a time, then "puts them back in the bag" and repeats. This video shows a strategy for handling each bag that results in a repeatable pattern. Every 140 pieces of the strategy leaves the field empty or with residue that will clear away naturally. Playing Forever works in any game with Hold, at least 3 previews, and Bag randomizer -- so, most modern games.

  • @kitaru2004

Yeah, I read about this on HardDrop. It's an algorithm for playing forever. Also, posted it as a TIL on Reddit, and I think it got frontpage'd. :D

  • @barelycertain Haha yeah, I don't think Tetris Concept has seen that much traffic flow in one day ever before that. :p That was quite something!

  • @kitaru2004

I think I posted a link to the HardDrop wiki. It's HardDrop that got all that traffic that day.

The people on Reddit were talking about how the website wouldn't load.

  • @barelycertain Are you daskrip? I was in that thread, and it was definitely a link to TC Wiki. :)

  • @kitaru2004

wow. yeah, I am daskrip, and wow, I guess I'm wrong then. TC it was!

i'm more amazed at the coincidence of you re-meeting me here.

i'm getting into nullpomino like crazy nowadays. so far my best is 56 seconds for 40 lines. still transitioning from the ds controls.

  • @barelycertain It was strangely timely from my perspective. :) I think it was maybe a day or two after I responded here that another Tetris player woke me up with a phone call saying that we were front paged on Reddit, haha.

56s is not a bad place to be. :) Keep at it!

  • @kitaru2004

I can imagine the coincidence of seeing it up on Reddit so soon after talking about it here. Now you know it's all connected, and the world is tiny. The way we met is amazing. o.0

Do you play Osu! by any chance?

  • @barelycertain I have a couple friends that play a lot of Osu, but I'm not big on it myself. I do play a lot of other music games, though.

  • @kitaru2004

Tell me the ones you play! I'm looking for some myself. I mentioned Osu! because it's the one I play a lot, and I'd like to add you. Do you play StepMania?

  • @barelycertain I mess around with Stepmania sometimes -- mostly when I don't have access to other music games. I play pretty much all Bemani, though: DDR, beatmania, IIDX, Pop'n Music, GuitarFreaks/DrumMania, and a bit of DanceManiax as well. I play some old-school DJMAX PC sims and DJMAX Technika occasionally, and Technic Beat once in a blue moon.

  • @kitaru2004 I haven't heard of most of those!

I just had another crazy coincidence happen with another YouTuber/redditor. He had a chat with me on YouTube a while ago. Right after starting a reddit account, he found one of my comments!

  • I remember back in the day when wikipedia refused to accept that this was a true infinite loop.

  • @MizukiTHPS NO ORIGINAL RESEARCH

Seriously what do you want from us Wikipedia, the pattern is demonstrable fact.

  • I asked Shuey and Kitaru.. I knew they both could do it. :)

  • thanks!! :D

  • @mattgresh1 np :)

  • You're not going to reference the requestor? lol

  • @Shuey187 lol, I got a message from someone on YouTube asking if I'd do a video demonstrating the pattern. I don't know whether they wanted to be named or not. :p
