Does your Furman PF PRO R power factor is also a voltage regulator or just a power conditioner?, im looking for a good voltage regulator/power conditioner that can plug my amp also, and I not sure which one to get
@malamutelocomotive: It's the same thing - just another Tech 21 Liverpool put into a half rack system. Bought it from someone who did the custom work.
@ChickenRapist: The SDD-3KP and Triad are similar, but not exactly. You can't compare them to a Liverpool which is an amp modeler. You have to have an amp, so the Liverpool is my first choice. Then if you can afford it, I like the Triad because it is also midi controllable with other equipment. But both are great pedals.
I know they're different but I noticed you used them in a similar manner.
I personally am using 2 amps (1 of which is a Vox) but I figured a Liverpool would be nice to have that added touch the Korg preamp does on delays. At the moment, I 'fake' this by using the typical Boss SD-1 set to max Vol and zero Gain, Tone to taste. Been reading that this does it well too.
Thanks for you help and information! Wondering if I should go for a Liverpool or SDD-3KP.
@ChickenRapist: Hey there. Sorry, I don't think I'm following you. Get the SDD-3KP (Triad) if you want a nice pre-amp to drive your amps. Get the Liverpool if you want an amp sim as a back up to your amps. I've never tried the Liverpool as a "boost" pedal into an amp, but Tech 21 says you can use it this way. I used the Triad into the Liverpool, assuming the Liverpool is an amp model.
Referring to the new Character series for 2011, the Liverpool comes with a Cab Simulation defeat so that it can run in front of the amp.
Plus I also say this cause people using it this way have their delays after the Liverpool, while those who use it as a modeller have it after their delays.
@ChickenRapist: Ah, got it. But even if you turn off the cab, then you probably want a power amp, not another AC-30. Otherwise you will have the Liverpool as a pre-amp/power-amp model with no cab on into another AC-30, which doesnt make sense to me. If it's into just a power amp that doesnt add color to the tone, then it makes a lot of sense.
Hi, i have a m13 and a vox ac tv15. But i think the sound is not good enougth. I was thinking to bought a axe-fx. You think its a good choice? how you output the sound? to regular speakers? The axe fx have all effects needed to play U2?
@raoninery: The quality of the sound could be many reasons: amp, room, your skill set, etc. The Axe-Fx is great, but may not solve your problem if you are going to use the same amp. First make sure it's not the amp. Join our U2_Guitar_Tutorials group on Google Groups and ask your question there and others will help determine your problem. Too many questions for this YouTube page. Axe has almost everything you need. But U2 is not "plug and play." It's a journey!
@U2GuitarTutorials whell thats why im asking you. The Skill , sure i have, my guitar is a nice model but my sound is not so warm. At beggining i thought that was my amp. Then i change my vox pathfinder to a brand new ac4 TV with the same valves that AC30. My pick pallet are the same that edge uses. I already tried the amplug AC30. It sounds great but i thing that overdrive too much. I was wondering if my pickups are the problem. I have a les paul epiphone and a stratocaster.
@raoninery: It took me years to get it right. Hard to tell the problem. Join the group I mentioned and post some clips and then we can try to help you.
When you use the Liverpool or the AxeFX amp modelling... what are you playing through for external sound? Headphones, studio monitors, or amp? I'm having the hardest time deciding whether to get an amp or studio monitors to play through.
You are hearing direct sound from the Axe-Fx balanced outputs to my Apogee Duet. The headphone out of the Apogee goes to my video camera mixer and directly into the mic input of the video camera so I dont have to sync video and audio later. I listen to the recording from the headphone out of the vid camera. When not recording I use headphones into the Apogee Duet.
@U2GuitarTutorials Thanks for the info! I know you have an HD500 ... when are you going to song tutorial with it? I'm finally getting the HD tomorrow after a long wait. I would love to see you do Pride on the HD. The Pride sound is the one sound that I just can't seem to nail down. I think you have convinced me to get the Liverpool though, sounds great.
@raoninery: Sure, youtube is great. But still join the group and post the link on the group so others can listen and provide input. There are amp experts and guys better than me that may know what is exactly wrong. I may not.
Hey man i love your vids, they are very clear, the best U2 tutorials out there in my opinion.
If you have the time, i have a lil question.
I am looking for a pedal that would help me greatly creating a good U2 sound, so i thought of the Boss Digital Delay DD-7, do you have any experience with this pedal? Would you recommend it?

Great video! What's the name of the Liverpool that you have in a half-rack unit?

Thanks for your answer. What's the advantage of this rack then over the pedal? Is it MIDI controllable?
malamutelocomotive 6 months ago
@malamutelocomotive: Nothing, just in a rack.

@U2GuitarTutorials Ok, thanks.

If you had to choose only one, which would it be:
Tech 21 Liverpool (new with Speaker Sim defeat)
Psionic Audio Triad
DTS SDD-3KP
Just wondering!

Sorry, dont know it. But the Boss DD-20 is great. I has a modulated delay setting and is very good. You need a modulated delay for U2 stuff.

Thanks for the super fast reply by the way!

@ki0ny hey dude, the DD7 will do the job. Very similr to the DD20.

Hey thanks!
Think i'l go to my local music store and buy the DD7 this week.
The DD-20 is a bit too expensive in my opinion, based on what i offers more than the DD-7 :)
