In my War class, we learned about Point du Hoc. This was one of the most intense beach assaults in WW2, and if you thought Omaha was daunting, the taking of Point du Hoc was a grand feat. The Rangers who scaled the cliffs had to swallow their fear of falling, which was a very real threat, and then deal with the elite German forces defending the bunkers and camps near Point du Hoc. I feel Point du Hoc doesn't get the recognition is deserves, and is truly one of the Allies' greatest victories

Elite German forces ? At the Pointe du Hoc ? Not at all. The U.S. Rangers faced the 352 Infanterie Division of the Wehrmacht. This unit showed a great courage, great skills but it wasn't formed to be an elite unit.

But that doesn't reduces the Rangers' merit, given they were greatly outnumbered.

Vietnam would fit the CoD franchise perfectly! It would be a bit of a mixture between World at War's Pacific environments, but with more modern weapons similiar to the ones in CoD4, like AK47, M16A1, M14, M60 etc. and maybe even the Flamethrower from WaW. Now that would be intense!
