Guys, there's nothing wrong with zoos as long as they have the space to keep their animals. This cage is OBVIOUSLY not big enough for even one cougar and that's cruel. But if the animals have enough space to roam and they have enrichments etc then there's absolutely nothing wrong with zoos. And btw animals don't think like humans. If they're born in captivity they WON'T know what it's like to be free and if they're kept right they can live a (long) happy life in captivity.
@Minimanta2 I wholeheartedly agree with you, however there's NO enrichment here. They are probably intact, as well, adding to their frustration. Poor guy is VERY stressed out. I'm getting that way watching this at the ignorance level of how this zoo keeps their animals!
@bobbyfluffynoodle I disagree, it's a place for people to see animals they never would otherwise. It also helps scientificly study the animals to better help preserve them in the wild. It's the zoo that should make a better environment for the animals. Check out Ashboro zoo in Nc, it's one of the best I've seen with how they recreate the natural environment for their animals.
I agree they could've titled it better, but when animals pace in zoos it means they're bored, agitated, whatver and they're trying to walk it off or find some outlet for their energy because there's no other way, so that's probably what they meant.
@XxXjoannXxX i agree. a cougar in the wildnerness travels around 20 miles in a day. You cant expect them to live a happy stress free life in a cage. its instinct it to explore and hunt. By caging them, youve taken away everything the cat knows. Instead of hunting, theyre being fed and pestered by humans. These are reclusive animals. They do not want to be near humans. Theyre not a social animal. The want to hide, explore and hunt. thats it
@CrapolaLipGuy I would be too, being cooped up in the same space day in and day out with people staring at me, making loud noises and jumpin up and down all the damn time.... lol
wen tey wander back and forth like that there sufferung from "zoo madness" they bite themselfs, pace, and eventually die from it

@bobbyfluffynoodle Right, but what about pets? By your logic, should I go set my guinea pigs out in a field and walk away?
