I have this camera and there is always that high pitched frequency on the sound. Sadly there is no microphone input. Its too bad since the camera itself is 'silent'.
@jgrzinich i am thinking about getting this camera. i am more worried about good video rather than sound. what are the pros/cons of this camera? thanks.
it depends what you want to use it for... even though this is a high tech HD camera the functionality is basic. there are some manual controls but you have to dig in the menu to reach them and you cant change the parameters easily once you are recording. With that said I am satisfied with image quality from the automatic settings most of the time. For its size and weight, this is a pretty amazing little cam. It seems well made too. And I love the time lapse function!
@jgrzinich : I think I have found a solution to the high pitched noise problem!!! (This works with me, so it should work with you)
All you have to do is save the file tfor Adobe Flash Player 8. When I did it, the sound was gone. The noise was really bugging me, since it was such a good camera. Hope it helps :)
Its probably something to do with the way how Picasa converted the video or something ... when I play the video on my lcd straight from the camera, the pitch isn't there.

Did you try to convert the video with another programm, to see whether that noise isn't permanent?
