I love what Kasich is doing for Ohio. This is THE greatest state! I don't believe that our firefighters and policemen will suffer any loss, that is just absurd!!! What I do believe is that those in the unions feel untouchable, and their integrity at work demonstrates it. Unions are parasitic and feed off of the taxpayer, and it's time for Buckey taxpayers to voice their opinion. It will be interesting to see how this plays out tomorrow at the polls!!!

@NARDDB The state of ohio does not pay the salaries for the firefighters, and policemen, there salaries are paid by the towns and cities they reside in. So how do they affect the whole state of ohio? The cities/towns have the choice on your healthcare when you are working in a department. If your city decides to change health insurance provider, then you have to switch too, the state should have no say for something that is dealt on a city/town level.

@NARDDB Okay explain to me why there is volunteer fire departments in the state of ohio, if the state pays for the firefighters? Because they dont pay for the firefighters, each individual Local goverments that decides wether or not they want paid fire/EMS departments for their services. Thats why there is towns that do not have these services, because they cant afford them, thats why their are volunteer departments!

People only want ems when they need them not when others do! 8.50 isn't much at all! That's what a base ff makes at a fire dept around me.

@3565ke yeah people dont get that firefighters and policemen's salaries are paid by the towns and cities they reside in. not the state. near you they pay $8.50/hr when near me they pay about $13/hr, depending on where your department resides in, i dont get how people think that the state actually controls this.

@stangsaleens7 LOL you need to check again on department pay scales. And the state foots money for this aswell. The issue needs a BIG FAT YES. Besides if it causes departments not to hire more then good we have to many cops any way. But this bill is ment to go after teachers. Now there is something that needs fixxing.

@vector150 The police and fire departments are not controlled by the state, and they dont get there money from the state. And the pay for each differ on how much the city/town will pay, i live in a suburbs of cincinnati, so the pay is around 13/hr thats firefighter lvl1-2 and EMT-basic combined. The city decides on what health insurance is provided to the firemen/policemen, how much pay they get, and how much money is funded for the equipment necessary.

@vector150 You are not seeing more cops they actually dont hire much at all. its just that the cities makes money off the tickets that the cops give out, so they set a higher qouta, so that the cops need to get more tickets,since the bad economy, cities are needing more money, to pay off its debts. So you will see cops more frequently. The state police work the same, but they work for the state and not the cities. I will agree with you on the fact that our public schools sucks.
