Oh I do know my facts. And it should be apparent to you that both Motorhead and Priest's "Stained Class" was an essential influence to speed metal. Whether or not you want to call Motorhead early metal or "hard rock," that's a different story. But the fact about their influence is correct.

Motorhead just inspired them to make that music. And if you wanna go deeper than that, Metallica was inspired by the earlier bands like Scorpians, Blue Cheer, and Sabbath.

I could counter your arguemetn saying Mustaine is more influential then all of Metallica since he wrote 4 songs on Kill Em All and 2 on Ride The Lightning. Als created Megadeth and had an affect on Kery King since he played in Megadeth. Yea sorry renown means nothing. Slayer is more infuential then Metallica.

You may not think They are influential but big bands like Trivium, Anthrax, and along with Testament were influenced by Metallica. And Mustaine did right 4 songs off Kill Em' All but whats 4 songs out of 95? I agree there not the best metal band but they inspired a lot of people and started many bands. And got me into metal.

Just practice, playing anything fast paced or too heavy, will get you nowhere, a good way to get alot better is learning Classical or Acoustic songs, that require you to actually use something other than a plectrum.
