I like many different guitarists....Jeff Loomis being my favorite...Its all about preference. I like Alex Skolnick, Alexi Laiho, Jari Maenpaa, Michael Romeo, Petri Lindroos..All great in my book. Each have something different to offer.

if you think there is no feeling in Petrucci's style then what are you doing listening to Romeo? go back to Images and Words, Awake, Scenes from a Memory, you'll find some feeling on those that you'll never find on any SymphonyX album

Petrucci is more versatile and faster and more technical. i admit that romeo does crazier tapping stuff. they're both great and i respect both of them :)

Romeo might have admitted he's better but Romeo has a distinct original style. I think his music is much better then Petrucci. Dream Theater is real Proggy with some metal thrown in, Symphony X is Metal with Prog thrown in.

I know I'm going to get hated, but Michael Romeo needs a band with equal talents... I think that his playing is being pushed down in SX and he would shine brighter with better musicians.

michael romeo is my favorite progressive player by far, the melodic shit he alternates so smooth is just insane. so many kids talk about him being fat, who gives a flying fuck, I'm pretty big myself, and the majority of these kids leaving that comment are probably anorexic or underweight. That's all besides the fact, when it comes to guitar playing, romeo is the real fucking deal for alternates.
