the gun which had the most effect on the weapons revolution was the mg34 it had an aircooled barrel and it was usuable by 1 person and its my favourite
are you sure that Stg 44 is the same as mp 43 not mp 44. Because the research on the general purpose rifle began in 1943 but was halted by Hitler and then the development continued in 1944.
not bad, maybe if you really had alot of time (which no one seems to have.)myou could put in some commentary for those people out there who have no clue about german small arms of WWII but otherwise I'm impressed it gets 5 stars. its what you said it would be, no more, no less.
Very nice vid. Yeah the words kinda got in the way on some pics. It would be great to just add to this video, like some chemical agents used, bullets, who used what gun at what time during what invasion/front, etc.
Amazing that Germany had such an arsenal compared with the rest of the allied nations, and an overwhelming amount of trained troops, and still lost the war...
Yeah, thanks. I know what I am talking about, unlike the people that only know weapons they have seen in Cod WaW and nothing else. All those videos pretty much fail...
@cheeba1994 Wow, you must be kidding right? The MP38 and the MP40 have only a few slight differences, I assure you the picture for the MP38 WAS an MP38 and the one for the MP40 WAS an MP40. And um, your comment makes absolutely no sense, you just said I put two pics of the MP40 for both the MP40 and the MP38 and then you say that the MP38 looks like an MP34. Those two guns look nothing alike and not to mention the pictures I put were correct for the gun name. Think before you post.
actually they are just the years they are manufactured in, for instance the 40 stands for 1940, and 38 stands for 1938, because the mp40 holds a standard clip of 32 rounds same with the mp38
No, as I said, the MP40 introduced some cost-saving measures like using more stamped parts instead of machined ones. If they were exactly the same, then why would they be called two separate names? Look it up yourself if you don't believe me.
There are very few differences. The MP40 introduced had some plastic put on the side that the MP38 didn't have. The MP40 also used more stamped parts instead of more machined parts. This was to make the MP40 easier and faster to produce. Like I said, there aren't many differences.
Wheres the MG15? Yes, it is an airplane MG but it was used many times by Luftwaffe ground forces when they where low on automatic weapons. I would call it quite common in Luftwaffe ground batallions, especially on 'poor' front like North-Africa and in the late stages of the war.
I want to add some information to your video. In 1943, Germany bought some miles of the handgun called Astra (models 400 and 600) manufactured in Spain, germans called the 600 model, Pistolen 600/43 or P.43 with the same ammunition of the Luger. For use of the Wehrmacht and the Luftwaffe.
Oh! yes They did!!! they use these handguns in spain in our civil war, the people of Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen, and they bought a lot of miles for the wehrmacht and luftwaffe. the germans are very selective in some areas... our guns are powerfull and strong like them. I don't like the nazis but our guns are like their or better
No, the Germans only bought a few, I don't recall seeing many Germans armed with an Astra. The Astra was probably issued to troops that were not expected to see much combat.
A very nice video, but I miss the Faustpatrone. The first Panzerfaust design with was not good enough and then the Germans started to make bigger and bigger panzerfausten.
A very good quality video. Although I would disagree that the Panzerfaust, Panzershreck, and Flammwerfer were small arms. These items would have been seen in use by engineers and anti-tank battilions. These are also heavy weapons and are capable of destroying tanks and doing heavier damage than regular small arms.
Small Arms in most militaries are classified as any weapon that can be carried by one soldier and still keep up with the main force. Panzerfaust and the others can still do that.
The MP41 was not a common infantry weapon, so therefor was not included. I only included weapons that were common and did not include experimental or uncommon weapons.
sorry if i am mistaken but i do believe the the sturmgewehr 44 was called the mp43 in its first months of battle. But then Hitler found out about it(he didn't aprove the weapon but the enginers secretly kept producing them) and he liked it so it was renamed more apropriately the sturgewehr 44 (storm rifle 44)
I am sorry, but I do not study Hungarian weapons and I have not heard of that weapon. If that weapon is real, then it is probably one of the few Hungarian guns that were used solely by the Hungarians. Most of the Hungarian armies probably used German or Soviet arms.
I have the Sauer 38H, had it my whole life, my uncle brought it back. The 38H is a very well designed weapon but the barrel is so short it is for close range only. It is a double action and most were 7.65 cal.
Well, there isn't really such a thing as a "large arm". They call military firearms, "small arms" because it is technically what they are called, in addition they are called small arms because they are small compared to other arms like Tanks, aircraft, missiles, other military vehicles, anti-aircraft batteries, anti-tank guns, and others. Hope I answered your question. Any more questions just ask.
That was an uncommon weapon. Only used in the battle of Berlin and a lot were made but the fact that it came so late (the last month or so of the war). I thought it didn't deserve to be mentioned.
Well, there is one I didn't put in there. I forgot to put an MP41 in this slideshow. The MP41 is an MP40 with a wooden stock. Its a very cool gun. The MP38 and the MP40 both had foldable stocks if that answers your question. Anymore questions, just ask.
Well, not much. The MP40 was more or less an improved MP38. The MP40 was an improvement in that it was simpler in design, easier to manufacture, as well as a few other slight modifications. The reason I mentioned it is because the Germans used it when they invaded Poland as well as its surrounding neighbors before they adopted the MP40. Thanks for the comment! Any other questions, feel free to ask.
And I am supposed to give a damn? I hate to break it to you but you don't know anything much less everything. Where did you get your history major, a cereal box? If you don't stop then I will block you. If you think I am joking then just try me and see what happens.
The MG45 was a waste of material, waste of people to work on it, and waste of time. The MG42 performed well enough for the task of a GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun). The MG42 only had 2 real problems. It required frequent barrel changes because of overheating so quickly with its high rate of fire. Second, it ate through ammo like crazy. It was already simple enough to produce so it was probably better the MG45 didn't get into production before the end of the war.
Uh, no. Germans only had a margain of success against the Americans in the Battle of the Bulge. But that was because of suprise and they were against an American force along an 80 mile front that was 1/20th their size.

Uh, no. Your just saying that because you hate nazis. If you put aside the fact that they were fighting for nazi germany then you would see they are very good soldiers.
No, I'm being serious, the ONLY good/decent Nazi soldiers were the Paratroopers, and Panzergrenedier, and tankers, a platoon of conscripts would be no match for a platoon of hardened American paratroopers, or Russians for that matter.
20 nations to defeat them.. If the Germans knew the Brits had the enigma code, the Germans would have won. The revealed Enigma code ensured the Germans could not get enough fuel and munitions to North Africa. The problem in North Africa was supplies. Even Montgomery admitted he was an inferior commander to Rommel.
I never said that, I mean he thought Nazi's were the best people ever, and thought US soldiers were no match for them, he thinks he IS a Nazi pretty much, and he pretty much thinks America sucks, and a lot more stuff, but you should get what I mean.
Caboose, the description section to the right explains that I only mentioned weapons the Germans used in combat. The MG 30 was used very rarely (if at all) because the MG 34 had replaced it. The MG 30 only really saw much action during the Spanish Civil War. Also, the MG 45 was an experimental weapon and wasn't finalized to be put into production before the end of the war.

Oh yes, the MP41 I forgot. The MP18 I did not mention because the Germans didn't use it during the war. They used the MP34, like you said.
