  • Like, just shove a friggin 47,000 ton needle in the sucker so we can find out how it's gonna frac. Any reduction is immediate relief, no?

  • Obama and others tried to tell them..other sources of alternative energy but nooooo,Obamas a socialist trying to tell big business what to do, "we need to embrace deregulation"etc, etc. Well, this s what happens when few if no government regulations are imposed. Don't forget the mining tragedy in W.Virginia.

  • BP should not be drilling of the shore of the US. as you can see no one is holding any one liable for the important issue here. GET IT FIXED and NOW. packing mud in to it . LMAO. if thats not saying we are stupid and dont know what to do. i dont know what it would take to get some one to see we are screwed. they know how to drill and screw up. but they dont have there ass covered do they.. my living is made in dealing in petroleum land spill. and there is a responsible party every time.

  • reading these comments and the only thing sadder then whats going on down there is how stupid people really are. one person says that BP should get fines but they should not be taken out, they should be HUNG on the lawn at the white house. this is a horrific injustice ONCE AGAIN by big brother. here is a prime example of why there is no room for error in that business. and when you do show neglect people and wild life get DEAD. If this happend in the middle of the desert who would even know ?

  • If this were happening in another country, our military would be there in a heartbeat. Has any other nation offered assistance?

  • Why can't they send robot subs down there for goodness sake's they got to the Titanic and it's miles deeper than this. Get in there with robot arms and plug the damn hole. Surely the Navy has subs that can get to this and can do something. This is just beyond tragic.

  • It doesn't even loook like they are trying to stop it. /:

  • would it work if they sectioned off the affected area with some kind of barriers, walling it in so they can just siphon it? This way it cannot spread anymore...the gulf isnt really al that deep...

  • I agree. Another issue of concern are the potential bankruptcy proceedings that BP could opt for Chapter 11 style, a defensive re-organization that allows them to re-emerge under the ruling of a court that would be terrible for workers, this is why I couldn't believe it when (R)epublican's with Lisa Murkowski at the point BLOCKED the Democrats effort to overturn the $75 million dollar cap for damages that by LAW is all the BP has to pay beyond the cleanup. Democrats are going to keep on trying.

  • plug the damn hole.....

  • what about the methane gas thats pouring out with that? ( the white stuff located on top of oil )) how they gonna contain that?

  • god forgive us......

  • I agree. This is not just a problem for the Gulf Coast. If other oil related industry thinks this does not affect them, they are wrong. This will have consequences for all of us for a very long time. Everyone in the oil business should have a part in fixing this. This accident happened to BP. And, they are probably 90% responsible for this and should be held accountable by paying whatever to whomever it takes to fix it!

  • @txdaytripper2 agreed, once this oil crisis is situated and dealt with, Obama administration is probably going to regulate their ass off. of course, they wont be used to it because of the freedom they had during the bush/cheney administration...

  • @txdaytripper2 It's hard to call this an "accident" considering the negligence. It was more like BP gambled and we lost. They stayed on budget and schedule without regard to safety and the environment. BP should be taken through bankruptcy for the environmental catastrophe and the assets sold off to pay for as much remediation as is possible. Criminal prosecutions are necessary so other companies don't take gambles with the environment. Must disassemble the negligent corporate culture.

  • @TiredOldFart I completely agree! Accident was a poor choice of words. This was a catastrophe that was completely preventable! There were WAY too many opportunities for the people running that rig to say "wait, we have a problem here, let's stop and see what we need to do before we continue" Someone on that rig overlooked very obvious problems and chose to continue. Error in judgement is forgivable. We correct the problem and move on. However, coverups and denial is not forgivable.

  • @txdaytripper2 This company needs to be taken out and the assets sold. That should have been done with the banks. They saw gasket material coming up during the drilling, but they pressed ahead. The were drilling but they didn't have the best blowout arrestors the state of the art has. They were drilling a mile deep and had no action plan in place to recover from this failure. If they don't have a solution, they should be drilling that deep in the first place.

  • @TiredOldFart cont' Meanwhile this spill is washing up into the marshlands. People are out of work because of this spill and they could be put to work using their boats and their familiarity with the local marsh to work on protecting the wetlands. But nothing is being done. Why isn't BP contracting with the locals? BP's plan is to hope the geyser will eventually run out of oil and stop spewing the toxic contents. They aren't doing much to protect the environment from damage.

  • @TiredOldFart I agree that BP should be held accountable for the spill and made to pay for damages, but to "take out" the company for mistakes and even negligence is not appropriate, unless it can be determined that it was done deliberately, and that is ludicrous. To take down a company because of even a negligent disaster would be like taking down NASA for its various accidents that cost lives. And THAT is the most costly part of this whole disaster.

  • @txdaytripper2 So here a week later, oil is washing up on shore, into the marshland and into Florida beaches. BP response is to hire security force to prevent photography. The deploy cleanup crews to start cleanup when they know media is there and they pull the crew off the job as soon as no one is watching.

This problem needs to be taken away from them and the company pieced out to pay for the damages. Damages will ultimately exceed the breakup value of the corporation.

  • @TiredOldFart Surely you don't believe BP is not interested in cleaning up this mess. Everyone acts surprised and mad every day like its a new disaster when oil washes up on the beach. This well has been leaking for 47 days. I imagine you can expect oil to come to shore for at least 47 days. It makes me sick to see the lack of progress on stopping the leak. But if you think there is anyone else, let alone our government, that could do a better job,Let em know! I am sure they would love it

  • I can barely watch this 5 minutes and it has been dumping like that a whole month so far. :'( This will not have a happy ending.

  • THATS ALOT OF FUCKIN FREE WAISTED OIL

  • @dysmond8891 You know, If they vacuumed the oil off the water to collect in a tanker it could be saved, and recycled

  • upon the human race in your lord's name*

  • this is the biggest man made disaster in human history....

  • @spopajr

Chernobyle is far worse then this

  • @1ownjoo2 How do you know? Chernobyl wasn't fully know for years, there is NO WAY to make any claim about Chernobyl being worse, no way. And, how would you know anyway, you can't even spell Chernobyl..

  • oops

  • At least shamoo gets to go to the Doctor since we have free health care

  • The so-called good right Obama. The so called "Yes we can". But more like "No we can't ".

  • No wonder the Devil hated humans.

  • This is why we need nukes, when shit get out of control all men deserve to die. Now is the time for all countries with nuclear power to launch. Lord Almight God, give us humans death, let us die in your wrath since we are inconsiderate, irresponsible, unmerciful towards other life form and ourselves. We are racist, sexist, and etc..., we are capable of nothing but destruction. Let us die not slowly but right now. Let your Sun ignite this oil and cause the earth to blaze uncontrollably. Amen

  • @Luv2suckFemaleToes

I'm guessing you call yourself a Christian due to your other comments, please forgive me if I got your affiliation wrong.

Jesus was CLEAR about how this world would end, and he explained CLEARLY that innocent people would die. Furthermore, God does not delight in the death of the wicked, only wicked men delight in death. Please stop shaming the body of Christ with your comments! And if you're not a Christian, please stop giving the atheists ammunition against religion!

  • this shit is sad we can put fuckin rbots on mars but we cant put robots in 5000 foot deep salt water to weld a pipe and we have buracratic assholes in charg of it all

  • I wonder how BP feels watching their profits sail away?

  • Send in the Navy or NASA some guys with brains. Its unreal how drilling a hole at the ocean bottom is easier than plugging that very same hole. Watch the price of gas go up cuz of this, i love the US but this is the kind of BS this great nation is know for. Big company makes big mistake, we end up paying for big mistake.

  • When i see this video it just makes me think of a huge bonfire, with people just throwing bags of money it, and sitting there to watch it burn.

  • Oops.

  • hijos de puta malditos bastardos petroleros todo por su ambicion mal nacidos

  • can't we just stick a potato in there to plug up the hole?

  • @wyldkard062580 it is kinda miles deep. altho they do need to hurry up.

  • Drill Baby Drill!!! ... you people need to sterilize yourselves...

  • @EuroBITCH13 hahaha ....well said!!!

  • Here is to the 8 day government response and the white water rafting and the finger pointing and those that are looking for a way to blame Bush.

  • i say we call in China to fix it. The U.S. it nothing but a bunch of bafoons.

  • @flurpiee We are looking at the Dead Sea . A plea to all to get involved quickly. We need the worlds brightest minds involved. This will easily tip the scales towards massive destruction of all living creatures. Dont let the perpetrators do the fixing!

  • cheneys fault/ automatic shut off would have eliminated this risk. check out: dailykos. BP-Oil-Platform-Spill-Disaster-is-CHENEYS-Fault-UPDATED

  • Well.... he is somewhat right. We do have ways to stop the leak. Other countries have had leaks like this, why don't you all take a little time and do some research to see how they stopped it instead of calling him an idiot?

  • @smiz37 - Keep watching Fox news, idiot. Do you really beleive what you're saying? Let me guess, Glenn Beck told you all about this grand conspiracy. Think for yourself.

  • @smiz37 you sir, are an idiot.

  • @smiz37 Just like the economy, the more it crashes the more government intervention and regulation will be needed. Now if we could only drill ANWR then their wouldn't be a need to deep drill in the gulf. As far as I am concerned anything less is the same as the border situation, all lies until they build a physical fence.

  • @smiz37 Obama proposed new drilling a week before this happened. You don't think it is in his interest to get this stopped quickly?

And before this happened if anyone suggested more regulation of the oil industry were needed, conservatives would be up in arms about big government. Now, they complain about response time?

  • @smiz37

  • @devaughny THATS FUNNY

  • I know this is difficult to see, and more so to really understand, but the oil coming out of that pipe is the least of the problems. The white you see coming out is methane and natural gas. Those 2 gases released in that volume over an extended period of time can and will change weather patterns. The North should expect a very very wet summer and the South is going to see Temps that will most likely set new records.

  • Like Sarah said: "Drill Baby Drill" ----people actually have faith in what this idiot says!

BP is not the only one at fault here.....the people (all of them) that allow these off shore drill sites to be set up should be hung on national TV!

  • "Trust me", they said - BP, Bush, Obama, Cheney, ...

  • BP execs are ineffectual dolts

    Politicians are self-serving whores

Consumers are bleating sheep led by both.

bleat. bleat. bleat. STOP DRILLING for oil (I drive 30 miles one way to work). Save the environment! (I want a cheaper bigger house with a green lawn and a chlorinated pool). We demand change in our government (I only ever vote straight ticket). Stop the war for oil (I love my new plastic sneakers).

  • 2012, its coming . everyone enjoy the ride thats left

  • If this explosion happened almost any other day than April 20 you might believe it really was an accident.

  • this oil leak is due to global warming

  • its defiantly different when you see it and than just hearing about it :/

  • the real waste is the environment!!!

  • can they just throw some rocks on it or something?

  • pipe to ship is likely bullshit, any siphon would be expected to hydrate clog like the previous efforts The "siphon" is probably just injecting subsea chemical dispersants as was approved by U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mary Landry on May 14th. You think anyone is checking the collection tanks?

  • The date is 08 may 2010, which is before the pipe-to-ship was implemented.

  • what a waste of oil
