Melbourne has a culture of busking in the CBD. However because there are so many, the requirement is that you have a permit. Bourke St mall is a prime location for buskers and to avoid it being overrun with too many buskers, there is a limitation on who is allowed to busk there. For many people, busking is there primary income and that's why there are permits.

We all love what you're doing but things are run differently in certain Melbourne locations.
