  • Awesome advise, this will go extremely far. Thank you

  • great advice,

    you can go now.

    lol

  • I think for wedings or that kind of gigs it wouldnt be bad to turn with cd's, LOL.

  • thanks j

  • ...and everyone´s looking at you as though your stupid. i pictured that. hahaha..and he sais it really serious .hahaha lol very good advise by the way :D

  • I agree, I normally have a set of tracks going in that either the bride & groom requested, or fit the genre of music they requested, and then mix in guest requests that during the evening, finding the right flow for the night...

  • the world is your oyster.... Brooklyn Bounce.

    amazing song and great quote.

    Thank you.

  • Hi DJ I like ur video channel. Could u tell me what ur music style is, the music u normally play ? One other thing when u r a mobile DJ one better not be a Genre-specific DJ, right? 'cause u have different crowd every time . If somebody is a Techno DJ what other kind of music he can add to his playlist normally ? or Techno all the way ?

  • Hey J! Yeah this kinda goes back to your video where you drew a tree and shown how you can go this way or hmmmm maybe that way! LOL for those of you who havent seen that one, its basically a visual interpretation of this vid! ;-) PnJ!

  • I work in partis of that kind,, in a good weeding there are obligated songs...

well im from mexico but.. if you are a good Dj you can do good things... ammm welll i only want to say that you can do everything and make it sound original or not?

  • agadoo works

  • In my opinion you can't prepare a wedding set... There are just too much requests and the public is too divers. An other thing: a wedding usualy takes more than 60 min.

  • You can construct mini sets of top songs in each genre. This would allow you to test the waters to see where the night will lead you.

  • Part 2 I sometime say if you have a song request for a dance later tonight for when we get this party started please feel free to right it down in my request book artist or title this can give you a little hint of your crowd But as you become seasoned you won't need the request book.

  • Part 1 OK all you amateurs this is how you gage a crowd at a wedding. First while dinner is being served watch the crowd's body language as you play certain songs test the water with instrumentals of popular songs and genera's Motown Elvis country hip hop etc Head bobbing foot tapping etc and while there eating.

  • Perfect helping tips, I see how thing could flow when your infront of a crowd better, Thanks!

  • loved the ending on this one

  • The best thing about being a mobile DJ is the diverse range of music we play.

Bedroom DJ's take note, a mobile DJ has to entertain more people in a short space of time.

DJ tutor, I have a sugestion for a video, show these guys how to beat mix 60's songs Ie motown.

  • I can only disagree. In my experience, Mobile DJs always play the same useless cheese. I really respect all DJs but generally mobile DJs just play garbage to please the masses just as the video says "the macarina", saturday night, grease megamix, that's what is always played and i'd hardly call it "diverse". Sure there are many genres but its the same songs every time.

  • True and not true i have been a mobile dj for 5 years now yes u play cheeses stuff but i also mix remix mash up at my events. When your doing a wedding they want stuff like the macarina cause everyone knows that song and has fun with it! I also dj in some clubs and would be killed if i played the stuff i play at weddings lol

  • Im a Mobile Dj and I specialize in certian areas, but I have to be diverse. That same stuff that you call cheese, is requested by the client majority of the time. Clients pay the mobile dj to play the cheese, the mobile dj is not successful if he/she says no.If you have swagga then you can bring in the macarina and make it hot.Thats a real DJ.Club Dj, people come to here you play.Mobile Dj, people pay you to play.If werent this way, every party would be held at a club, hence forth no mobility.

  • @SSdraken So true! Also I've NEVER heard a dj at a wedding actually properly blend tracks. They usually just wait till 1 song is finished then quickly play the next. In my opinion this just makes them a human jukebox!!

  • Great Advise. I agree totally. Being what I call a hybrid dj. I beatmix for mobile events. I am a mobile dj with the skills of a club dj. When training other dj's who get excited about learning how to beatmix it's important at the end of the day that they don't get lost in it.

When you train a button pusher to mix they suddenly loose face of what they are doing and obsess over the mix instead if the dancefloor or music selection.

You have to know when to mix and when not too as a mobile dj.

  • That was a great vid, J. And some really nice comments on here as well./ Spot on!

  • wow this is great advice

  • At the end............"can I go now"? Was there someone in the bathroom? LOL

  • Inquire ahead about the invitees, and always be ready to play an instant hit just in case you miss with a dance floor clearing bomb. I find it very useful have a list of Universal HITS of all genres to fall back on. Practice and Enjoy!

  • good advise!

  • Correct J!

Club music is rubbish, just continual loop samples all night, it's not what all of us particularly want to hear.

Playing Its raining men wouldn't go a miss.

  • Listen, I'd like to say that ignorant comments like this really annoy me, I'm not being a music snob but there is a lot to dance music as with any genre and it all down to personal preference and what you say in your comment is completely untrue. You appear to be some kind of DJ yourself which surprises me because I think it's important to have a little respect for other music even if you don't like it.

  • not quite what I meant about Club Music.

If you go in night clubs, you will often hear loops of music, that can often be played all night.

    Anyone can set a loop.

It isn't my favourite genre either particularly.

  • mate u got it i moblie dj and i got a few mates who dj in clubs and they give me shit but i make more money then them and its funny to see then stand in for me will i take a piss have a feed wat ever, and they kick ass at there styles but when they get a very pushy drunk grow telling then to play a ''GOOD SONG'' you should see them stress,,

wat we think are good songs and wat the croud do most of the time are to driffrent things,, but those shit songs pay my bill ,,well sum of them lol

  • And when you change the genre first time, if it turns out for worse (ie. more people start getting off the dance floor), change the genre again - if this *also* only generates more empty space on the dancefloor, go back to the first genre... at least that had some people on... just remember not to panic (which is always a sound advice on my opinion, no pun intended:)

  • Furthermore, if it looks really bad, take some sort of cleaning brush with you, walk to the middle of the (empty) dancefloor, pick some dust off, walk back to your booth and (in case you're allowed to use the mic, of course) "now that we've cleaned the floor, it's safe to get back again, people" :-p

  • hahahaahah both those comments are freakin awesome and true as hell cause I just Dj'd a christmas party for a company called WTH (world travel holdings) and thats how it was for a little until everyone was getting wasted!

  • Absolutely LOVE IT! lol

  • Do you find that nose rings can cause interference with media players especially dangerous when using lasers as you can find yourself picking up the local taxi radio signal. Also there is a certain amount of nasal cloggage.. ha.... interesting...je

  • Another thing to help in the construction of a set at a gig is to get a list of music styles they want to hear and don't want to hear. It gives you a good idea of songs to start out with.

  • we had a DJ at my mother's birthday party. a week before the party he contacted us and asked us to suggest some songs that we would like to hear and which tracks to play during specific moments throughout the night. i thought that was a great idea to ready himself but he didn't completely construct a set.

  • very true great vid j

  • Sound advice!

Always good to mix it up a bit.

  • nose ring, hot!

  • Hot? Wot about the snot? :P
