Toyota should have made a twin Turbo version of the MR 2 MK3 (or MRS if thats what you call it). Or at least a superchared option. What they really needed to do is fit a small V6 in there. i wish toyota wold come out iwth a 6 that could rival the JZ and MZ engines
power to weight people s2000 may have extra bhp but the mr2 is so light and perfectly balanced with better traction of the line so u can see why it could compete.
It's not stupid. It was done to keep the cost of the car down, and it worked. It's supposed to be the cheapest mid engine car you can buy. Lotus helped design the MR2, thats why it weighs so little. So with that said, I ask you this...if they put the 2ZZGE in there, why would anyone buy an Elise? A difference of 300 pounds of weight or less?
Yeah, I suppose your right. But they definitely should've suped it up a little more. Maybe give vvtli instead of just vvti. 155-160 hp stock would've been near perfect. I actually own a spyder and love it but just wish it was a little faster out of the box.
Lift would have made it way better, yeah, but also more expensive. VVTLi systems aren't cheap. Top Secret's turbo kit on a completely stock engine will get you a dyno power of around 235 rwhp. With a little more tuning you can get much higher. For a car that weighs in at 2,150 lbs, that's serious power.
lo picas hijo e puta verdad..,saves ke el s2000 te iba a comer el culo !!!

@oopssorryy I think I've seen some MR2s and MR-Ss that have 3VZ swaps... they're supposed to be pretty nasty I hear.

mods on the mr2. i know it has pfc. no way it can stay in lift from 1-2 unless u slip the clutch with the celica ecu
drmrdan 2 years ago
Not pfc but a xms management, lift is set at 4800 rpm or 5500 with a flick of a switch

ahh i see, hardly hear about xms on a 2zz. but good stuff. mine will be up soon.
3"intake/ppe header/ 2.5 magnaflow / pfc.

Thats a great race! 2zz swapped MR-S has a very good potential. I have a K20 swapped MR-S + turbo.

HA the S doesnt stand a chance. The 2zz is the engine that should've came with this car. Stupid Toyota.

I fail to see how the Honda is ricey. I was rooting for the MR2 the whole time, but still...S2000's are very respectable cars.

x2. i do see allot of rice hondas out there, but this one is very tame in terms of styling.
