Japan should be made to stop whaling because of 2 reasons.

1) They take any whales

2) They lie to the world community and say how it is for research.

What are they researching ? How to fit a whale steak on a plate ? They should be condemned for their actions.

Having said that, I really like eating whale meat here in norway. Norway only takes over-abundant Minke whales and each year never reaches its quota.

Smaller average weight is the first sign, the big fish have been caught and new ones never get the chance to breed. This menas we have to catch more fish to reach the weights we once did. Look at the destruction of the Labrador fisheries and the fate of cod and blue fin tuna.

I can't figure out why they do it. All the meat from the whale ends up in cold storage. There is nothing scientific to be gained from killing thousands of whales. If they wanted to kill for tradition then they would only need to shoot one or two. But this is industrial scale whaling and there seems to be no reason for it.
