the Fly took from electrics, electrics come from archtops, this archtop takes from its own evolved electric sibbling.. doesnt make sense. I'll go read the specs.
That guitar is a precision crafted piece of art. Most art doesn't have a utility function, but that doesn't stop people from owning it. Every time I listen to a review on an expensive guitar there's some jackass comment on the price.
@8x26x08 $30,000 is not at all reasonable for a handmade archtop guitar. You could get a handmade instrument of comparable of or superior quality for 1/6 the price.
I'd like to remember that the tone you can get from an archtop (as from any other guitar) is HEAVILY influenced by the setting (strings gauge and style, strings action, pick thickness and tip shape) not to mention THE PLAYER, that is actually the ultimate tone producer. In this video it seems to me that the guitar is fitted with too light treblish sounding strings, and is played by someone clearly not at home with the acoustic archtop jazz guitar world.
I have never played an archtop guitar that I've liked. They've all been very stiff and had almost no sustain. I've never really found one that I've considered to be playable. I'd like to play one of these though.
you need to take some guitar lessons and some composition lessons too, coz your song isn't impressive at all. I'd wait more from a so called senior editor lol
I gotta disagree...archtop acoustics are designed to get a fatter sound and clearer high end. It's supposed to be smooth and warm, making it ideally suited to jazz. Has a heck of a lot to due with tone much more so than volume.
Very interesting innovative design I dont suppose anyone knows where I can get one in nw england im willing to travel reasonable distances

It's a shame he kept the Parker head, the rest of the design is fantastic

Gorgeous as heaven itself. Fantastic innovation and execution.
But it sounds horribly scrappy and tinny.
I bet a nice pick guard mounted neck pickup would save it.

Only $30,000, can you drive it?

@swingitjack It obviously isn't a market guitar. So that is fairly reasonable.

Yeah, acoustic archtop is a design made to get a lot of volume, it's nothing about a nice tone, lol.
