@dutchytr I agree with some of what you say, but I've seen a presa do a 9 ft wall. Red Star Cona was his name. K9 unit is not the end all be all for a dog. There are a number of reasons presas are not used in police work. They are not as versatile, or compact. They are also a greater liability. I've titled a presa in PSA and beaten out some GSDs and Mals. But as a whole those are better sport dogs. Ever see a mal bring down a hog? Presas are real dogs and can be as good as any for protection.

I def like the Presa, they are strong, intimidating dogs. My personal choice of protector is still German shepherd, but to be honest, a hard driven dog like Presa, German shepherd, Rott, American bulldog, etc, will do the job!

a pit does not say auch! so he can take a body punch , and keep in mind that pits have been bred(at least game pits<pure) not to bite people , only in extreme ocasions so only big pits are actually put in defence training cause small 20kg pits would have a tough time to actually bite you (in the old times the handler was in the pit with the dog and he did not bite , even the opponents owner so :D) but y rather take a malinois for attack:D faster and smarter

JustToletUknow..I have seen many dog fights on video ok. And Pitbulls and presa's both have a very similar fighting style, endurance and tenacity. Most presa vs pitbull fights ive seen come out fairly even. But i have never seen a pitbull beat a presa..but i have seen presa's beat pitbulls. But again..its usually fairly even..but the presa seems to have the edge over the pitbull.

I have never seen a kangal ever loose to any dog. Every kangal vs pitbuul fight ive seen..the kangal wins every time!

....also i have seen rottweilers fight pitbulls. And many times the rottweiler wins. The rottie is stronger and manages to get the pitbbulls on their backs and munch on the pitbulls throat just as a kangal would.

007 Ive seen tosa's fight.They are very good.I saw loads of dog fights on a video from turkey where the kangal comes from..and kangals destroy tosa's.Man kangals destroy everything.For me the top 3 fighting dogs are:

1. Kangal.

2.Tibetan mastiff.

3.Sarplaninac.

I think these dogs are the best not only because of their size and power but because they are very intelligent and know what to do so they can win.I mean they really do use their brains.Watching them fight is like watching them play chess

@delitemyheart seriously it shows that you seen a lot of fights online i got to russia for vacation alot 9 years ago it was the tosa people, then it was the cao people, now its the kangal people.....the latter two aren't even fighting dogs so you are gonna get lots of inconsisenticy . When you do mixed breed matches you shouldn't use 40lbs pits but catchweight pitbulls and in real matches to the end these dogs are always on top, the livestock dogs cur out after 15 mins.

Yuan...yes i have seen all sorts of dogs fighting on video. I have seen quite a few fights between kangals and Presa's...and the kangals win hands down. Ive seen presa's fight pitbulls and presa's are just as good as pitbulls any day of the week. Ive also seen rottweilers beat pitbulls. Generally speaking..the Kangals is the best fighter..he is ferocious, smart, has the size and power thats hard to match.

It was the english bulldog that was crossed with the now extinct english terrier to create the "staffordshire bullterrier". Then the irish began to breed the largest specimans of the staffy until they consistanly had a dog that was on average 3-4 inches taller. This taller staffy became known as the "irish staffordshire bullterrier"...then when it arrived on U.S soil it was renamed as the Amstaff & APB!

Unfortunately I did not see this prior to commenting on your latest post. That being said I see we are in agreement on more than a few points. However, presas are VERY good protection dogs. I've competed side by side against Mals and gsds and beaten them in PSA, Dog Sport Open, K-9 Pro Sport to name a few. On the other side of that I have also been beaten by those same breeds. The point? A good presa is as good and in some cases better than a mal or gsd for pure home protection.

No dude, read my post earlier I went to Canary Islands too see the Presa years back, I was interested in them before. Enought to fly to Tenerife !! LOL I didn't like what I saw though. Hard to go wrong with a Mal for P/P sports. KNPV lines makes it almost a sure bet. The presa on the other hand is much harder to acquire for P/P sports. I believe there are more good ones around but so few owners follow through with the training and competing. A lot of times it ends up being somebody who wants a tough dog, then they get one, can't handle it and the dog gets sent back, put down or eventually ignored in the back yard. Or some people are just content with family pet which is OK.

Whoa, hold on there. A true working breed when it comes down to protection sports these day is NOT a pit bull. There are certainly some very good ones out there, as well as good presas. But if you are talking about protection/working protection trials Mals are dominating the ring sports. I happened to have titled a presa in PSA, and have caught them in a suit. They have plenty of stopping power. Not all of them are good, but there are good 1's out there.

The new FCI standard doesnt accept black as a color for a Presa Canario, but that is garbage. If you do some digging you will find that the original Presa (like ones from Manuel Curto) do come in black. There are rare b/c people don't think they're part of the standard. One color that scream fake Presa is BLUE. There is no such thing as a Blue Presa
