How to use leather ends on a bead necklace

What ends / clasps are best for 1mm waxed cord. I want to make a long string of wooden (12mm) beads but am a complete novice. Thanks

can you use the same technique for hemp thread ?

It is not recommended. The leather ends would not be able to hole the hemp thread in place properly, and they would eventually wear it away as it is too fibrous and irregular.
