BUT Eartha, U HAVE HAD A HARD LIFE GROWNING UP,AND MY HEART DOES GO OUT TO U...U TOOK OVER A HARD ROAL IN LIFE TO LIVE UP TO CATWOMAN...AND U DID PULL IT OFF AWSOME!!!!
I dont think Ms.Kitt ever got over her mother leaving her! although she had happy times you can tell she longed for something she never had ..and that was the feeling of being accepted! May Your Soul REST IN PARADISE Ms.Kitt you deserve it ! her voice alone was just as #LEGENDARY as her stage shows ! she is deeply missed ! I was just amazed by her
( Continued Once More ) However, if her mother was half Native and Half Black then how the hell would the mother look white or even that much different in skin tone to her daughter ? She herself was mixed with 2 races that are very obviously of color ? I don't get it. Natives don't look white at all and authentic black looking people don't either . I would think that it would be very obvious the mother was of color and not white looking so, How could Eartha look so drastically different ? SMH
( Still Continued ) And I really don't understand the mother , because Both the mother and her daughter had color to their skin so whats up with her not wanting to take care of her daughter for the way she looked ? So what, your daughter was lighter then you big whoop, unless the mother was so light she looked white and was trying to pass...
( Continued ) Especially, for both of them to wait till she is like 6 or 7 to give her up. How do u let her bond with you as her parents and then decide that you all the sudden don't want her because you can't handle that she came out so-called yellow ? Why didn't they give her up from a baby if they couldn't handle the way she looked WTF .
Damn, I wish I could slap both of her parents , If her father didn't want a so-called yellow child then he shouldn't of laid down with a women that was of color and if the mother didn't want a yellow child then she shouldn't of laid down with a white man to produce that yellow child ( unless it was a rape then that's another story ) but it sounds like they mutually got together .
@MulattaPride You don't listen very well do u? Eartha never knew her father, who was white. The man that did not want her was her mothers boyfriend. The boyfriend was black and not Eartha's father.
Eatha Kitt was a real hustla, man poverty is a crime but some of her sob stories just seem invented to me. Lots of people have odd childhoods, but that's just part of life, it isn't perfect.
@dbastard1977 she didn't even know how old she was until something like 2001 or so. some kids at south carolina state investigated until they found her birth record. she was born at home, and i guess they didn't register her birth. i don't think she made up what her childhood was like, now, was it exactly like what she said? probably not, but that may have been how she perceived it.
@dbastard1977 Invented? Speaking as someone who grew up and currently lives in the south, I know that her childhood story is quite possible. I've seen and heard similar stories.
chalie chaplin, eartha kitt, botched up childhoods, didn't play the blame game and went on to greatness on their own strength and initiatives. And being honest to themselves and to others is what led them there!
i dont understand when she said got teased because she was light skin & didnt look like the others..Umm eartha was never that light & she looked like ya average black girl to me..u wouldnt even think she was mixed
I think the real issue is something that might be a little complicated to explain to a white man, per say. We, in the black community, know that a fair skinned person, doesnt really have to be extremely fair skinned to be made fun of or abused. Thats really the depth of how fucked up the self esteem is of those black folk who are one shade darker than the person that they call "oreo"...I think Eartha had it rough for more than one reason, too. She wanted more than a hard knock life.
@Cinnabunnz You had to see her in person. She was much lighter in person than on film. Many black actresses come off this way. Whitney Houston and Halle Berry are much, much lighter in person than they come across on screen.

You can see the look on her face in the interview from the 60's that she KNEW something bad was going to happen.
