I wanted to ask a question about the VPI turntable you have. Is the table completely rigid? I guess I would mean, is there any type of rubber isolation built into the table for vibration from the floor?
Thanks for any help as I am considering one but not sure if they are going to work with my old house.
@JWellingtonWimpy Hi: It's got basic rubber isolation on the cone shaped feet. I bought a Boos Maple Butcher block to further isolate it and it worked fine in a carpeted second story room.
@SCVandam The version I have is the medium output VPI edition. I like it very much. Much more musical than the Gilder it replaced. And that one was no slouch! Greetings!
Thank you. I find it very musical with tonality leaning towards the warm side. Specially vocals. HW recommends the VPI edition of the 20X with 1mV output. That is what I got.
The sibilance you hear is the result of the low-fi digital camera microphone picking up the sound. This was my first YouTube video so It has a lot of flaws. I should make another with the audio recorded separately at full resolution. A technique I now master.
The sound is crappy because this is one of my first videos and used the audio from the digital camera. I may upload a better sounding copy in the future, but I risk removal due to the copyright police.
I listen to an Art Audio Diavolo with Art Audio VP1 preamplifier so it's all single ended triode for me. Need a proper turntable though and was considering VPI. Are you happy with your Scout?
Yeah, had to make the clip short because of YouTube video size restrictions.
Thanks for your kind comments. The Audio Research stuff has recently been replaced by vintage Marantz tube electronics. As much as I loved it, I think the vintage gear is sweeter sounding.

Back then I was using a Benz Micro Glider. I have recently upgraded to a Dynavector DV-20X VPI Special Ediition, 1 mv output.

@crooner2007 How do you like the DV-20X? I have the DV-20XH version and I'm very pleased with the sound I'm getting from my Scout.

Absolutely!
An excellent entry VPI table and totally upgradeable as well. A huge plus in my opinion!

Very nice, I was just getting into that song and then the clip ended. Acoustic Research is very nice, as is the turntable of course. Thanks.
