Hi! Just bought this marvelous game in the Humble Indie Bundle 2.
Here's the trick: Cause the bird to bounce on the wire. Make sure that you are up and then wait for the bird to start moving down with the wire. Wait a bit and then go down as quickly as you can. The bird should fall down immediately. This is exactly what happens in the video too.
you have to turn off fullscreen and use the arrows in the down right angle and shrink the game window so that you can see yourself and the bird only.thus the game won't lagg(if that is the problem - it was to me)next you do like in the video (around 1 min of wobbling did the trick)and after you turn on fullscreen and play :)

The trick is to stretch up, then slowly down. If you do it fast the wire won't wobble enough. So... slowly up and down. This will surely help you.
