Anybody else wonder why all the young guns played in pre-season and the oilers did fine, they for some reason didnt play nearly as much in the regular season and the oilers were the worst team in the league?!?!?! just let the young guns play, Fuck the AHL you cant do worse than last place! Put them on the ice!
@troy324in the preseason, every team lets their best prospects together with some of the experienced guys from the standard NHl/AHL lineup (stars usually dont appear here) battle it out in order to prove who should play in the NHL the upcomming season, the edmonton oilers just happens to have one of the best (maybe the best) rookie lineup in the league and a rather thin core of experienced guys;)
this means that the edmonton oilers perform way better in the preseason than in the actual season
@daveathor no i know that but i mean, why didnt they let them all play more games and have more ice time in the regular season? i mean you cat do much worse than last place right?
we can get rid of hemsky now. we got a new one that doesnt get hurt every couple games. omark has better hands too. hemsky better step it up if he wants to keep his job. hemsky and omark on a line would be pretty cool tho.
@Qwertey16 buddy learn hockey the coach dosent put him in the ahl its the general manager and btw they probably are doing that just so he can improve defensivley
@WADENABOYZ Haha what? Learn hockey? Maybe if he wanted to learn how to be a manager. To learn hockey you accually have to play hockey. And for the record I seriously doubt the GM would put him in the ahl if the coach said he should play in the big league.
@Qwertey16 lol its called developing your player not to mention they already have hall eberle and paajarvi you can only have so many rookies in your line up
@Qwertey16 Personally I thought it was a good choice to send him to the OC Barons because he needed a little time to adjust to the North American game. Besides now theres no doubt that he'll be an NHL regular in the coming season.
@Qwertey16 And who were you going to kick out of the lineup at the beginning to accommodate him? Hemsky? Eberle? Hall? Penner? Paajarvi? Coach made the right decision. Omark was the odd man out. You don't want to throw a developing player 4th line minutes.
Oilers might not want to change a winning team, at least they won the last game.... Of course he should be starter in NHL and not to be killed in AHL.....
linus omark, magnus paajavi, taylor hall, gilbert brule, cogliano, and yound veteran horchoff and hemsky, damn oilers are going to be good in the future
@GuruEddyD I haven't payed attention to this sport for what 6 years, and I was thinking the exact thing as you. The Bure force is strong with this one.
edmonton is one of the few canadian teams i dont hate and i like to see them do well but i dont think they're going to have an easy season considering they have so many rookies... they're clearly skilled but i can just picture a team like toronto or boston just beating up on all the young guys
pretty sure Toronto is better than Boston... Lucic, Thornton, Chara, Boychuk (cant think of anyone else off the top of my head) as opposed to Phaneuf, Komisarek, Schenn, Rosehill, Beauchemin, Brown and Orr.
Phaneuf and Kessel are the best 2 guys....Komisarek, Schenn, Rosehill, Beauchemin, Brown and Orr are all pylons.
Boston has Chara, Savard, Bergeron, Lucic, Wheeler, Sturm, Horton and Seguin. And all of the Leafs you named, except for Phaneuf, not not elite NHLers, proving their 29th place finish last season
@Fifa09Wii I think that this season will not be as good as they are expected to be, however I believe that the 2 seasons after will Edmonton be the nightmare for any other NHL team.
i'd say 3 or 4 years at least until they're actually a contender, 2 years is barely enough to become a playoff team.... they should just tank this year and grab that swedish defenseman and then they'll be set
Then who will get 1st overall? Florida just traded their best forward away for a 1st round pick - they're in a full on rebuild... I guess NYI and Columbus are also possibilities but I doubt they're worse than Florida.
@Fifa09Wii i don't know, because Florida has Vokoun so i don't think they will be last, of course it's a possibility, but i think florida will be on the bottom 5, hurricanes just lost 5-3 to a RUSSIAN team
