  • If someone did this stuff to their house, they would want the person charged with a hate crime.

  • When activist do this stuff it hurts their cause.

  • that condom is too small i dont think it will fit me

  • So excellent.

  • whatever... you obviously know nothing about infectious disease transmission;

besides which poor public policy is a root cause for poor health outcomes in the US

  • What I am trying to get at that you don't go and do things to people you disagree with property. How about someone do that to your property? If they did you would be wanting to press hate crime charges on them.

AIDS has a lot to do with a persons lifestyle.

Quit thinking you are entitled to special privlages cause you are different.

  • But straight people think marriage is a special right only they are entitled to. Too bad you don't practice what you preach.

  • So much for "Thou shalt not kill" ... you just lost your moral stance. Oops.

  • You first turd brain. :)

  • What? No special privileges? But heterosexuals think they are entitled to marriage as a special privilige solely based on who they have sex with! Right! Oh the hypocrisy of the holier-than-thou!

  • Actually, if you want to avoid AIDS ... use a condom. i think the prrotest mades that abundantly clear. Helms' goal was to let people he hated die. Yours doesn't seem to far removed.

  • Senator Jesse Helms was truly pure evil. I truly hope God wasn't convinced by Helms "religious acts", and sent Helms to burn in hell.

  • LOL WOOW BRAVO!!!! Wish I could have participated on that! Great idea!!!

  • i can't believe senator dole wants to name AIDS legislation after Jesse Helms. PUKE! blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • I organized this action, and can be seen in the video saying "you mess with us, you're going to wake up one morning with a condom on your house."

For my full description of the action and our reasons for doing it, Google "Peter's POZ Blog" and look for the entry titled "In Memory of Jesse Helms, and The Condom On His House" posted July 8th, 2008.

  • What a fantastic piece of history! What a fantastic group of brave young people they were. God how I wish young people still had passion like this in the new millennium!

  • I can comment on how many tax dollars were spent removing the condom, since I was there.

Zero. The police and activists discussed this and the activisist politely explained that they knew how to take it down and would happily do so and would gladly be arrested afterwards. (They were not arrested.)

  • That's cool! I wonder who had the ultimate say why they would not be arrested? I'm sure if Helms was the powerful, hateful man many say he was, he would've seen it through. Consider that mercy, love and forgiveness!

  • Here's how it worked. The activists made sure no one was home or would be home, so as not to disturb or scare anyone. They had a budget to repay the senator for any accidental damage done to his property. Once sure of this, they did their thing.

The cops came after a long while. An activist acted as mediator and told the officers that they didn't want to cause them unnecessary trouble (like trying to climb up to arrest them or leaving it to them to disassemble the thing.)

    That's the story.

  • 1. Already answered. 2. Those two statements aren't contradictory: Jesse Helms (and others) wanted AIDS to spread AND kill everyone who got it, because only godless sodomites get AIDS. 3. That's just incoherent. 4. They have low approval ratings BECAUSE they refuse to stand up to that POS you call a president. 5. Yes, he stood for hatred of anyone who wasn't a straight, white, Christian, fascist male. We know where he STOOD, and now he LIES in Hell.

  • Helms was a good man and because he was controversial of course it is natural he would have many enemies - many of the likes on this site and other. And by God taking him on the day of Fourth of July is an honor that should not be overcast. He was voted in by people who think like him for nearly half a decade and those people are out there no matter how loud his enemies may be. The first amendment gets us that. There are many countries that wouldn't even allow you to speak up! You'd die!

  • "There are many countries that wouldn't even allow you to speak up! You'd die!"

Or get lynched, or murdered on the side of the road by Klansmen, or any number of things approved of by Helms and his ilk. And God taking him out on the 4th is indeed an honor... for the People of the United States who are finally free of that scumbag. (God's birthday present to the nation?) But we aren't free of the horrible effect he had on our country. He was not a "good man" in any way.

  • I'm sorry, I usually don't relpy, but are you on Crystal Meth? Jesse Helm was one of the most hated men in the United States. Google him. He was bought by the good old boys of the tabaccoo party. he is a putrid excuse for a human being and I am truly glad he is gone! F Helms! I wonder what his Klansman's hood will auction for?

  • a bigot winning re-election many times in a southern state in the 70s and 80s is not far-fetched. As for Afirca and AIDS later in life, that was under the guise of "those who didn't deserve it." The love of the liberal is to hate hatred and ignorance.

  • another bigot dinosaur is dead :)

  • Great work :)

  • Funniest headline I've seen: Noted Racist and Homophobe Jesse Helms Dies at 86

  • today more heterosexuals get infected than homos.

you'd better play your guitar instead of writing stupid comments on youtube!

  • first of all there are people not blamable of their illness (contaminated blood infusion, hiv given on birth).

second you are right. people who have unsafe sex can be blamed. but think of so many other diseases...e.g. heart attacks caused by adiposis. so let them die as well because they've eaten too much.

third my post was an answer to your silly comment. I don't think this action is a reason why people (i.y.o.) can't identify with gays. it's the point that they're limited in their perspective.

  • I doubt even Hell wants the likes of Jesse Helms...but wherever he is, he's waiting with some considerable trepdiation for Fred Phelps, and the two of them will be forced to rim each other for eternity.

  • How fun... now that is what I call a CONDOMinium conversion. Alex Nowik sent me over here. I remember Sen. Helms and his funny eyebrows. He was big deal once (even got a Bongwater mention!) but now he's GONE, Gone, gone ....

    Marck }=))>

  • Awesome awesome awesome

  • Glad he's dead...the fires of hell are burning brighter today.

  • hahahahha
