TIME is a fantastic album with a strange dash of future shock / angst IMHO.

One should bear in mind that it was released in an era where most of us lived in a state of fear of whatever the future might bring: nuclear war, robots, computers that might outsmart us etc etc.

Today most kids have cell phones that are smarter than THEY are (heh heh!), so it's a totally different thing now.

The Beatles will always be my number one band and it's true that they did change the world, but so much of that was to do with timing. I believe that we were on the verge of a cultural change at the start of the 60's anyway and the Beatles just defined it with their music and style. I believe that Jeff Lynne is as musically talented as John or Paul..or George Martin. xx

ELO was such a big part of my life during the 78-80 period. We were going through so many changes it was senior year of HS through freshman year of college. Crazy in love and then the usual long distance breakup. I think I went through every emotion in the spectrum with The Discovery album. Evokes serious feelings even now. Beautiful! But, sorry, Beatles rule! It's not me saying that, its just the way it is. Peace!

The Beatles also had the talent of Sir George Martin, the so referred to as the 5th Beatle, to help them develop their sound. Mister Lynne has always been in the control room developing techniques and trying new things and sounds by himself... for this reasons alone I really do believe that Jeff is by far more talented than any of them.

Discovery was good but they had begun to sound too sugary and poppy by this point being forever branded as a ''disco'' singles band which of course wasn't true but they turned it around in 1981 with the much more prog-rock influenced Time album
