nope, that guy did play iago (you've probably seen that interview on youtube), but he did not play iago in the 1995 version of Othello. This Iago is Kennth Brannagh, the shakespeare genius, who also played Hamlet for example. This Iago is also up there with Ledger's Joker as an icon of hate.
I believe you are speaking of Ewan McGregor; there is a slight resemblance between him and Kenneth Branagh, but they are most certainly not one and the same.

Here's the double-dealing's apogee! I don't think Oliver Parker really directed Branagh, there was no need to...In my opinion he just sat and watched...
