That was the last time I ever did the 4way cross. And to break it down for you, two people have to occupy the same space, which is the "impossible" part about it. We call that specific move (just crossing perpendicular) "menstruals" because you should try it with a horn and see if you don't bleed. And no most of us do not stop playing or put down our horns. FYI that is just one formation where we use this impossible maneuver :)
It's a 6 to 5 step actually, not 8. I'm pretty sure if the 4 way was that easy, there would be more than one band in the whole US that could do it. I love OSU...they are an excellent band with a deserved reputation for excellence. But marching into a standing formation on the field and then having a tuba dance into place to dot the "I"...not the most challenging thing I've seen a marching band do.
@Iololz This drill has been tested on computers and is impossible. A&M has the best marching band in the world. No one can beat their precision and accuracy.
@MrST3A1H Every single drill is created on computers nowadays. It is not impossible, and they are in no way the best in the world. They are not even the best among the college bands. On second inspection, this isn't 8 to 5, just 6 to 5 oblique stride step. Still easy as hell. Not to mention their playing.
I think I read somewhere (might have been Wikipedia) that some of their drill sets are so difficult that drill-writing programs say they're impossible.

You're right, a simple set of constant, straight, slow 8 to 5 kicks the shit out of Script.
