  • I'll never forget the first time I heard that line:

"Nice work...boyo..." and my heart sank as at last I knew - I could no longer deny - I had been had.

  • i love this speech. it plays on the ideas of man...an explosive reveal on the plot, and a beautiful speech. it's both terrifying and powerful. i wanted to this for my speech class lol.

  • what is the name of the music at 1:01 -ish time? the piano music playing... :s

  • @mudkip4ever How they see the world

  • the most amazing, creative, geniuses made this game.

i have played plenty of games and this plot was so unexpected. the evidence and clues damn near slap you in your face throughout the game but you can never fit it all together until the very end. amazing!

  • Would you kindly subscribe to this person?

  • The Little Sister's voice is so cute.

  • I'm never going to forget the first time i played this game for the first time

  • It almost feels as though Ryan was trying to save the protagonist, trying to give him freewill. If he was then he failed.

  • @Sergeanttoasty Ryan was never the giving sort.

  • "Will you do me a Kindness? Will Ya? Will you bash my skull in with a putter. You Big Dumb Sonof a BITCH!" - Andrew Rebney

  • This is the finest story line twist in gaming history, imo.

  • is there a way not to kill him :/

  • Best game of the decade, hands down.

  • And I thought Atlas was a good guy! This is my favorite part so far of the game!

  • I was shivering all throughout Ryan's speech. This part of the game was just about the most emotionally trying part of any game I've played...

  • I see 19 splicers not liking this

  • Ryan: Run! Stop!

    *Jack does nothing*

    Ryan: i said run!

Jack: Hey you didn't say " would you kindly"

  • @dragonegg2 im sry but that was really bad no offence im not much better at comments but that was a really bad joke im sry but i must say this

  • Nice work, boyo....HHuuhauauhaauahuaahuahuahuahuaa.....

    HUhauhuahuahauhuahahuauahauhahaaaaaa....

  • so psycho

  • I had the betrayal here spoiled for me by an asshole on a forum I was reading for advice. The exact details where not said but it was bad enough to ruin what would would have been a major kick in the balls that event is. At least he didn't spoil the other revelations like what happens when you meet Andrew Ryan in person. :)

  • What Andrew says about " a man choices a slave obeys" is it weird that jack was more of a slave then subject delta was, and subject delta was made to be a slave....

  • When "Atlas" started laughing I started laughing too, like "Haha, yeah! We totaly pwned Ryan! Haha-oh. You laughing...AT me. Not with me...well crap."

  • why does ryan make you him him, he could have told you to kill yourself.

  • @Berserk100 because, he would die either way, so by telling Jack (your character) to kill him, he makes his point of "a man chooses, a slave obeys" saying that he chose his death, and made Jack obey him.

  • @xNO4H well he could have said protect me. also he knew earlier that he that that power over you he could have told you to kil your self before setting off the emp bomb

  • @Berserk100 Keep in mind that one of the main reasons he chose rapture to self-destruct was so that Fontaine couldn't gain control of it, and since he was already going to die, he wanted to make the point that he chose his death rather than just accepting that he was going to die, and to really drive home the point that Jack has really all along been a slave to Atlas/Fontaine and that he doesn't deserve to die with him.

  • Best Father/Son reunion ever!

  • The way "Atlas" laughs is just so epic.

  • I kinda wish I chose to perform this speech for my monologue assignment in Drama class, but at least now if anyone does play this game (or goes to see the rumored movie) they can witness the scene as it was meant to be seen.

  • I was Bio-SHCOKED when it turned out Atlas was Fontaine.

  • Thumbs up if this was a major mindfuck for you first-time playing it

  • A Man choses, A Slave obays....Those words will haunt me forever.

  • Seriously? This is only halfway through the game? Sorry, I'm still new to Bioshock. I honestly thought this was close to the end. I agree, I'm heartbroken :( The guy I thought was going to be my best friend (though I did have some suspicions about him) turned out to be a liar, a deceiver & a killer. I even see why he wanted the poor Little Sisters dead, so he could get more ADAM out of me... Right? Again, still new :P Boy, am I looking forward to sucking every last bit of ADAM out of this guy.

  • This scene always gives me chills.

  • This scene alone is one of the main reasons I liked Bioshock more than the sequel.

  • When you killed andrew ryan...he wins

  • Andrew ryan is your father, diane mckintuck or wutever is ur mom, you the player are only about 3yrs old but with the body of a fit adult thnx to dr.suchongs growth accelerator.

  • hey i just finished the game and im still confused. would you kindly explain the whole background to the guy that we play as?

  • I paid a fair amount of attention to the message recordings on my first playthrough, and I got a crazy chill down my spine when I immediately recognized Fontaine's voice.

  • I really liked Andrew Ryan's definite emphasis on the Man Choosing / Slave Obeys.

Brilliant Voice acting also, and brilliant dialogue.

  • one more question. I remember seen on the loading screen it said he was shot and so were some workers something. what really happened?

  • what was jack's life before he highjacked the plane if he didnt have a family and stuff

  • @Dude970715 the player is only a few years old. they did something with adam ot speed up the aging process to appear to be in your late twenties. the player was born in rapture and fontaine genetically reailinged him so that he shared andrew ryan's dna. the player could never suspect it though so fontaine planted false memories inside his head so that you would never realise who you actually are. the entire point of creation of the player was so that fontaine could have someone on the inside

  • @Dude970715 who had andrew ryan's genetic code so that he could use all of the blathsmyshpeheres and use ryan's control over rapture. that is why fontaine refers to him as family towards the end. would you kindly was the trigger phrase to get the player to do anything

  • @Dude970715 disregrad all of that i was completely wrong. i played through that bit again and now i reemember. andrew ryan had sex with a stripper and she got pregnant. fontaine found out that she was pregnant with andrew ryan's child. dr.tennenbaum took the embreyo and sold it to the highest bidder, fontaine. andrew ryan found out about this and killed the stripper and wanted to kill his child butfontaine anticipated this and sent him to the surface before ryan could get ahold of you.

  • @Dude970715 and then theres that whole bit with the implting memories and stuff bit

  • @Dude970715 He was a test tube baby. His mother sold him to Fontaine when he was born, and he's been experimented on since then before they sent him to the surface.

  • So...was atlas... or fontains family really in that sub near the beggining?

  • @Dude970715 nope, it was a lie.

  • @Seargent363 lol wow. what a douche...lol

  • I find it very interesting that Ryan didn't use any Adam or Plasmids. I guess that demonstrates his state of mind about his Objectivistism.

  • I saw this scene @ 2 am...I almost cried It was so freaky and mind blowing lol xD

  • Wow. That golf club whupping scene was just painful to watch.

  • The naaaaaame's Fraaaynk Fon-taaaaine, kid!

  • We can all learn a few tips from this guy!

  • "Was there really a family?" shows what appears to be the main character, Tenenbaum, and Suchong...

  • @120psi Suchong because he modified him, obviously.

  • Even the note says "To Jack, with love from Mom & Dad. Would you kindly not open until 63°2' N 29° 5.5' W"

    Very nice touch.

  • I was heart broken after I found out Atlas was Fontaine

  • Comment removed

  • @MangosTasteFunny I Hate comments like these they ruin the whole game for new commers

  • @Imallsnow Yeah cause someone who DOEST want spoilers is gonna click a video that says "WARNING extreme spoilers"

  • @InaboxPayne What if they are trying to leave the video and see`s a top comment saying Frank Fontaine is Atlas

  • @Imallsnow The game also came out in 2007 :P

  • @aFedosov There are still people buying this game.....

  • @Imallsnow I know, but i'm just sayin! lol

  • @Imallsnow ... you confuse me. why would newcomers be watching this video then? It's about Atlas being Fontaine silly. facepalm* for you. xD

  • @MangosTasteFunny I could complain about Bioshock not coming near System Shock's incredible quality, but I'd be lying if I said this didn't get to me as much as Shodan's reveal in System Shock 2.

Bioshock did quite deliver on it's own merits.

  • i know something about this listen to his laugh after killing ryan its sounds weird

  • What is it with powerful people and having a miniature golf hole in their office

  • Would You Kindly like this video?

  • My high school English teacher played this game and for our vocab synonyms, he put a background of Rapture on the powerpoint (since one of the word's synonyms WAS rapture) and yet, his hook that he makes for each slide's title (usually a pun, like Synful for a synonym day) did not say "Would you kindly copy these synonyms?"

Such a wasted opportunity, but I'm glad he knows this game.

  • when he says a man chooses a slave obeys i get chills

  • EPIC TWIST!

the best part about this scene is you figure out what's going on halfway through ryan's speech but the controls are turned off so you just have to stand there and watch in horror as you obey atlas' commands

  • Comment removed

  • Bioshock must be the "Citizen Kane" of videogames.

  • @RyunSharp My thoughts exactly.

  • I wonder if Issac Clarke realizes he's a slave.

  • Can anyone explain why Call of Duty Black Ops is getting such praise?

How is Call of Duty getting more recognition than Bioshock? Would some kindly please explain this undeserved praise that Call of Duty is receiving?

  • It seems that games are surpassing movies when it comes to stories like this.

  • like this video.....would you kindly

  • Couldn't he have given him a much easier weapon to kill. Why make it so hard?

  • @NightShroud092 cuz that'd be too easy

  • Would you kindly like this comment.

  • the best part of the game, the atmosphere is incredible

  • this game has the best voice actors in, they are so realistic and intresting to listen to.

  • ahhh believe it or not I want to sort of recreate this scene life but only play as andrew Ryan, it's for a school project does anyone have any acting advice? Pointers? Or any other advice? Please tell me!!!

  • @Naruta405 Don't use a real golf club.

  • @9000lolzpantz =_=; XD thanks....

  • Would you kindly thumbs up this video?

  • @TheJake0fTrades yea sure no prob..... oh god damn you!

  • @TheJake0fTrades

Don't need to use the mind control phrase, I was going to do it anyway.

  • Really was one of the saddest moments I've ever experienced in a game

  • "NICE Work, boyo! AHAHAHAHA!" Atlas/Fontaine is awesome!

  • how many times have i watched this over and over again? i lost count after 100,000...

  • i love atlas' "nice work, boyo!"

  • If only some movies were this well written...

  • @IanROX22 If only MORE GAMES were this well written...

  • "sit... would you kindly."

scariest moment in my gaming history and that started long time ago.

i obeyed to atlas as i obeyed to every other "leader" in games that said to me "go to..do that...find that...kill that". as i said... a scary monemt of self-awareness

  • @dramatify

Dude, this isn't at the end of the game. This is only halfway through.

  • Comment removed

  • 16 people are Fontaine's slaves.

  • Tits to toes!

  • 3:04 - 3:08 AHH MY JUICES!!!

  • he's supposed to look like Walt Disney.

  • @Missmanga12

    Myah!

  • @Missmanga12

Softie!?!!?!? He took two hits with a golf club without dieing!

  • so jack was technically andrew ryans son but was brainwashed into being a sleeper agent assigned to kill him with that phrase?

  • @kingofburnttoast Yes. (and all the people on the plane used to get him back 'home' died too)

  • *Everything collapsing*

    Gun:*lol*

  • Great.

    Just great.

I'm a slave, Atlas is evil, and I need a new pair of underpants.

  • "Don't forget to say hi to Ryan for me." Fontaine is truly, a badass.

  • You know who Ryan sorta reminds me of?

    Agent Smith.

  • 'atlas: Nice Work... Boyo! Ahahahahaha... HAHAHAHA!

Me: Aw shit, this isnt gonna end well...

  • on his wiki page its said that Ryan didn't have the Vita Cha,ber turned on else he could've come back to life

  • saddest part of the whole game i reckon with the exception of the sad ending

  • wonjder how rayan stayed safe.

  • the note says would you kindlyh take down the plane

  • @DR2fan22 The note says "Would you kindly not open until 63° 2' N 29° 55' W "

  • subscribe, would u kindly

  • This is going to make a great film i cant wait to see what the psycho characters are like especially Cohen and Steinman. Also this is kinda sad Jack bashing his own dads skull in.

  • why exactly did he WANT to die? =/

  • @Crazee108 Because he became the one thing he hated in the world... the praiste. so in his final minits he whon'ted to teach his only son the the diffrence about being a man and a slave and to not let "atlas" control him like his prsonel pupit. In the end he lost his life but saved his only son by making him realise that he is nothing but a slave.

  • @Dannodsc63 Ahhh thanks for that dude. =)

  • @Crazee108 np

  • @Crazee108 if you get the tape talking about the save stations that revive you when you die it says that the stations themselves are only usable by andrew ryan or his gene pool ergo andrew ryan cant be dead hes just been revived but he wasnt there in the sequel so it must be assumed that this was simply an in-game loophole

  • @mortaroman the only vita chamber that is close to where he dies is in his office, and it is turned off. as he is too far away from any other chamber, he stays dead.

  • how the fuck are there 16 dislikes

  • this was so unexpected, its a gr8 twist to the whole story, I cnt wait for the new one to come out i hope its much like this.

  • when he has the family flashback.... that's jack in the middle

  • I don't think there's a single person who when they saw this cut scene thought back to ALL the times they heard those magic words "Would you Kindly?". THAT is what makes this a great story and a great scene!

  • @Psychoguy25

    I did.....

  • I like machine gun liquid shat all over my room when i heard the twist in this game

  • i didnt notice would you kindly until this part in the game

  • when i was playing this, and i had my controller in my hand , and he started too hit andrew ryan i was like , Duude , wtf? ... OH SHIT!! .. and i also have a question , isnt andrew ryan your father in this game? , like he knock-up this stipper ?

  • @LEAyungbee yea, u play as his illegitimate son

  • Why is it that whenever I play BioShock, Ryan's head is too high for my screen to show, so I only see him from the neck down when Jack delivers the final blow?

I think it's better that way, actualy, not being able to see right away, but being given the opportunity to look at your handiwork later while he's lying on the ground, but still, I'm wondering. I've also had problems with the game skipping radio messages, specifically the one where Peach tells you to give up your weapons.

    Anyone else?

  • Thought process from 4:15 onwards:

I saved rapture from destruction! Yay! Oh, look, Atlas wants to congratulate me.

Okay, that is not a normal voi- is that evil laughter? Shit, this can't be good.

    Shit. Shit. Shit.

    Oh shit.

    FONTAINE. SHIT.

  • Andrew Ryan is my HERO.

  • after this moment in the game i finally realized why jack has the chain tattoo on his arms

  • "hell, once i was even a chinaman for six months" best line ever? i vote yes

  • Ryan: would you kindly run

    Jack: "Runs"

    Ryan: stop!

    Jack: "still running"

    Ryan: I said stop!

    "Jack smashes to a wall"

    Ryan: .....

Jack: you didn't say (would you kindly)

  • I think Andrew Ryan commanded you to kill him because of his philosophy: "a man chooses (in this case his death), a slave obeys" (death when it isn't chosen to happen)

  • thumbs up would you kindly.

  • @MAGNETO1man NO! A man chooses, a slave obeys!

  • Hey, it's Quark for DS9.

  • why did ryan have to be your dad? that just sucks

  • this has to be one of the best moments in gaming

  • This part was fucking insane. You don't even notice the would you kindly until this part, and when you play it again it's like "STOP FUCKING SAYING THAT!!!"

  • Say what you might about Ryan, but the man knew how to die like a badass. He CHOSE his death. Anything else would have been undignified.

  • Ahhhh. Nice Work... Boyo... aheheheheh HAHAHAHAHAAHAAA!

  • Oh my days. I love Atlas' accent so much!

  • i think ryan wanted the player to kill him because it was the only way to make the player recognize who's the ass and the player is the only one who can stop this ass of atlas.

  • This game made me Think of a Better World,No Money-System,No goverment,no War

A World Where Everybody Lives in Big Houses,Everything is Free,And you Can Build Whatever you want,Withought any "Money-System".You just Find a Group of people Willing to Build you Something,And they Do it for you.

THAT,is an Ideal Society...But the Arrogance and Power Hungry-ness of Mankind would not allow that.

  • @wariofan279 Oh my god I cant believe there is someone else with the same thoughts as me Awsome

  • to be honest, i would kill fontaine 10 times before id kill andrew ryan. ryan was more of a deeper character who actually had a purpose for mankind. fontaine was merely a crook. does anybody else agree?

  • andrew ryan is so cool

  • is this part of the game or is it a add on

  • @kingovdtrols Part of the game.

  • There goes one of the greatest minds of rapture, nay, the world, and what a shame it had to be a putter.

  • Still one of my favorites games just so atmosheric and beautiful

  • Rate and subscribe.....

    Would you kindly.

  • In the end... what separates a man from a slave; money? Power? No: a man chooses; a slave obeys.

You think you have memories. A farm. A family. An airplane. A crash. And then this place. But was there really a family?

Did that aeroplane crash, or, was it hijacked? Forced down? Forced down by something less than a man; something bred to sleepwalk through life until they're activated by a simple phrase spoken by their kindly master?

Was a man sent to kill, or a slave? A man chooses; a slave obeys.

  • scary photo at 1:19

  • why did he kill andrew? sorry i dont have this game but i want to know what happened there

  • @Leonardus18 Throughout the entire game, Atlas is guiding you through objectives, beginning each instruction with "Would you kindly". This scene reveals to the player that this seemingly innocent phrase is actually a mind control code that when heard, triggers you into performing the given order without question. In this scene, we see that Andrew has figured out the situation and has chosen to die by giving you the order to kill him. For what exact reason, many debate. Phenomenal storytelling.

  • @Spade117 For sure something to do with "Jack is ryan's legimate son

  • @Spade117 He said it because he would've died by the hand of Frank Fontain tortured and starved, so he made his death quicker. My theory. :)

  • @Leonardus18

You're led to believe Andrew is the bad guy in the game. He tries to kill you on multiple occasions, halt your progress, and even destroy the whole entire city so you can't steal what he built. In all reality though, you're a slave to any man who asks you to do something, and then says, "...would you kindly?", so you're not really acting of your own free will. What makes the game so effin' awesome is that, the first time you play, you believe that it IS your will.

  • @HypotheticalMuffins I know...this scene was probably the best part about Bioshock

    <
